Cambridge is planning to enter a 40-person team into the world’s biggest half-marathon, The BUPA Great North Run 2007. The team will consist of staff, counsellors and clients all of whom will be taking the challenge to run 13 miles through the streets of Newcastle on Saturday 29th September, in aid of Diabetes UK.
The entrance fee is £50 (of which Cambridge will contribute a percentage – yet to be confirmed) and each runner is encouraged to raise a minimum sponsorship of £400.
The marathon first began in June 1981 since which time over 650,000 people have crossed the finish line at South Fields. By the end of the 2005 half-marathon, a total of 8,027,758 miles had been run since the race began, that’s about 308 times around the world!
There are limited spaces available!
