Total Solution First time on a VLCD!

I spend a lot of my free time on here, helps me stay motivated and focused. Doesn't help with the housework mind! But hey, it'll still be there once I'm at target! :D

Hope your headache's gone when you wake. Take care :hug99: xx

Hi Jenna thanks for popping into my diary, you're very welcome. I have left you a message on there.

Like you I have concerns about my breath working so close to patients, I have a breath spray and Extra chewing gum which don't affect my k. Sugar-free mints are a no-no :(
If you are fed-up of shakes have a low salt bouillon drink, it makes a nice savoury change.

In a few days you will prob notice a difference in the taste of the shakes, they do start to taste better!! Lol If you still think they're not sweet enough melt a tablet sweetener and try that. Not the powder ones tho they have more carbs.

Any probs, questions just pop along and ask I'll be happy to help if I can.

This forum is fab and friendly. There will always be someone here with an answer xxx

Gigglepants, headache is still going strong as is a sore tummy but will try drinking more water and see how I get on!

Thanks for the reply tubbynomore! I work in a locked ward for people with learning disabilities and challenging behaviour so while there will be no comment on it, I'd feel bad for them having me breathing near them haha!!

I've not had any shakes today as I've slept through the whole of it and don't feel hungry yet!! Possibly a bad move!x

Hi honey, it does get a lot easier in a day or too and you will see results even in your first WI. So hang in there for now xx

Hi Jenna well done for starting the diet, I think for me leading up to it was worse than actually getting down to it and starting it. I've just got through my first week, through socialising and cooking for my kids/OH and a birthday, so I think one week down alrready and I didin't give in, not once. I've lost 9lbs which is a real boost, this forum is fantastic, and really keeps you going knowing we're all in it together. Remember most hunger pangs are thirst so keep downing that water, it really helps, best of luck xx

Hi there, thanks reading my rubbish haha!!

Guys I've ended up having 2 custard creams over the night!! I've had half a banana and half a chocolate shake but I honestly couldn't stomach the rest, maybe going to have to split them into two but the thought of having more to drink puts me off that idea. Didn't get my sweeteners or anything so will get some this morning.

I know it's silly to start thinking of failing but are there any suggestions on small things that aren't too bad just if I was reaching for something? Basically something that's a bit better than a biscuit, I've had 2 litres of water and a coke zero as well so my water intake is on the up at least :)

Already snacking on my 2nd day!!!! Tut tut!x

I always have a little bit of lean meat or fish, some people on here have an egg cooked without fat-basically anything protein and low/zero carbs.... I would say at the moment I'm doing it every other day (in a very small quantity) & it doesn't seem to be affecting my losses at all.... Much better than reaching for carbs, which is what your body is trying to get you to do!!

Re the rank breath too, I bought some listerine breath fresh strips from Amazon - you literally lay them on your tongue & they are sooooo strong! Perfectly fine to have on a vlcd apparently too :0)

Hey :) Good luck! You're doing really well so far :) Keep at it and you'll see fab results on weigh in day :) x

misspiggy - just about to have a look on amazon for those strips, i remember them from a few years ago but guess they didn't take off! thanks for the advice. i've seen recipes on the exante website for certain things allowed on working solution so figured i'd try just some egg mayo which is made with low fat mayo or asparagus seems to crop up quite often and would also give the crunch that I'm already missing! Onwards and upwards from today :D

steelee, thanks for the luck, definitely feel as though i need it! finding the shakes really hard to get down so only been having half of them which isn't ideal as obviously then I have lowered my calorie content etc all over again! Will try it with sweetener etc tonight and mix with more water. well done on your loss so far - that's amazing!!x

morning hunni, glad to hear you are doing well keep it up x

Hi Jenna keep it up hun, you can do it xx

Good afternoon Jenna, hope you're finding today easier :hug99: xx

Today has been very easy since I've been in bed until now! Got another night shift so that's the hard part! I'm armed with 3x1 litre bottles of water though so going to really concentrate on drinking that rather than reaching for the custard creams again.

I had a sneaky peak tonight - not something I usually do but to see whether all this hunger was worth it and I'm 5 pounds down from the weekend...can that be right??

Really going to try and stick with these shakes, I find it hard to have it all in one sitting as end up feeling sick so might try splitting them in two. If you split them in two do people still add the same amount of water?

Thanks for always popping in - definitely think this is what keeps people going. Hope you're all doing well today :D

So...

Tonight I had the vanilla shake with coffee and hot water, don't usually like coffee or hot dinks but I actually got through it!!

Also tried to make a pudding with the chocolate one which failed as I added too much water but it tasted like a chocolate cake mix! So managed to get through that.

Leaving the banana one until I get home so that I can blend it with ice!

Update wise... I've had 2.5 litres of water and can't stop nipping to the loo, been about 7 times in the last few hours! Just as well I haven't hidden the diet from anyone, they've all been really supportive so far.

I've been freezing and a little light headed. I used a multistix (don't tell the nhs!!) and the ketones level was the highest I can get. Don't feel an energy surge but do feel more 'wired' during nights, possibly due to the coffee though. Also haven't had the 'death breath' yet so wondering if I'm actually in ketosis or not! How confusing.

Anyway feeling fine and hoping I'm losing the pounds!!! Hope all of you are the same x

Really struggling guys, almost just fainted in the hairdressers. Going between having my heart pounding and feeling dizzy to sick! They gave me lucozade thinking my blood sugars are low which appeared to help but don't want to be experiencing this, and don't have the option to be light headed in work due to working with clients with challenging and aggressive behaviour.

Help :(

Good afternoon Jenna, although I've not experienced it, I agree with Shoobs. Either have an extra pack or have some extra protein.

Hope you feel much better soon :hug99: xx

Hi! Feeling much better now, had a couple of boiled eggs and also 2 pints of the apple water from Iceland (THANK YOU to whoever find that because it tastes amazing!!!) I think it was made worse by having a mini panic about if I was about to collapse with a bunch of dye in my hair or be sick in front of a busy hairdressers? Luckily I know the girl from school so just warned her haha.

Thanks for the suggestions, I've just never felt like that before!

Hope all is well with you?x

Ahh glad you're feeling better. I must get some of that apple water to try :) xx

Definitely do, I got the two, two litre bottles of it and glad I did, just a bit different I suppose and very refreshing with lots of ice! That was a good find!x
