'Fried' eggs

#1
Might be a bit silly, but I need some help! Whenever I cook 'fried' eggs in a pan with a bit of frylight, they never seem to cook properly on top - they stay with a horrible top layer of uncooked clear bits for ages. I end up having to flip them over - I can't stand uncooked egg white - and then the yolk gets cooked, of course.

I always used to cook them with oil/butter and then kind of flick the hot oil on top to cook them, but obviously I can't do that anymore!

Any tips I'm missing? :)

I pre-heat the grill and pop them under there for 1-2 mins. Gives me a runny yolk but cooks the whites!

Yes I do that too... cook the underneath then whack it under the grill to cook the top. Lovely cooked whites with lovely runny yokes!

I just use water (no fry light at all) and splash the hot water on top of the egg - that always worked for me.

I use water too, so more poached than fried I guess but thats cos i dont like uncooked yolk either :) and dont think I could be bothered with the grill. Ive got an annoying grill/oven combo that is a bit tempremental. When I first brought it, I grilled a shepherds pie to death by accident LOL

Heres a tip off READY STEADY COOK
Fry your egg in frylight untill the white is just setting, add 1tbsp of water and immediately cover with a lid (i use a plate-it warms it ready for you to eat off then) The top of the egg will be cooked in about 30 seconds but the yolk stays lovely and runny.

That's what I do... the ready steady cook trick! Works a treat, and you don't have to do the grill as well.

I start off cooking my eggs in a frying pan with fry light then when the white part is cooked, I lower the heat, spray again with fry light and cover the pan. Perfect!!

You can carry on cooking egg for as long or as little as you like depending how runny you like your yolk.

Even dh and the kids have their eggs this way now!!
