....hello all!

We MAY be getting a puppy! Would really appreciate your experiences of welcoming a bundle of fur into your homes! Here's some background info:

1. Cockapoo puppy, 8 weeks old
2. I work from home - obviously go out to meetings though
3. We have outside space and live on the doorstep of Central Park, Plymouth and have Dartmoor not 20 mins away
4. We have a camper and regularly get away at weekends to dog friendly places
5. My parents have said they would have him when we're away
6. Have a designated space for him in our flat (it's a big, ground floor Victorian property)
7. Have grown up always having a dog in the family

Congratulations!! Our not so puppy anymore arrived 18 months ago and it was the best decision ever! It's bloody hard work though, much harder than people told us it would be! Routine from the beginning is crucial. My husband and I both work but in a pattern which meant pup is never left for more than 4 hours and this is only a couple of times a week. I used annual leave and built him up to been left for that time in half an hour slots. We enrolled him at the local dog training class at 14 weeks to get him socialised and use to other people and even before all his injections, we would carry him around the village so he got use to greeting people and all the noises and sights around him. As a result nothing much phases him, although he's not keen on black dogs lol! We are in Cornwall not far from you, so he has the beach and woods for his walks and he loves it! Lie ins are a thing of the past as he's ready and raring to go to the beach at 7am! We have meet so many people just through waking him and now have a regular group of fellow dog walkers that we meet most mornings on the beach. Your life will never be the same again - but in the best way!! Xx

Awesomecupcake, thank you ever so much for taking the time to reply! Early mornings are no problem for us, we're both early risers, 6am start etc. and I work from home so am home daily, and would make sure that meetings are never scheduled so I'm out of the house for longer than 4 hours at a time! We're going to see him tomorrow, so will make a decision then! xx

Sounds great! Once you go and look you won't be able to say no! My husband wasn't 100% about getting a dog but once we went to see the litter he was sold! He's completely smitten and I love overhearing him talking to jack - melts my heart every time! Pup sounds like he's going to have a fantastic life with you! Looking forward to hearing all about your visit! ??? x

Hello D.D. !!!! Good to see you .

As you know we have 6 dogs and I would never want to be without a dog around the place.

They are very adaptable and as you have yours from 8 weeks old, he is going to grow up your way. His routine will be yours. They do make work, they do cost money to keep in a responsible way, but what they give back has no price.

I envy you ( in the nicest way) I love having a new puppy but Paul has said if another pup comes here ( there are so many being dumped at the moment ) he goes, so no contest I suppose.

Cockapoo's are delightful creatures, you will be so happy with him.

My sister in Cornwall breeds Cavapoo's and Labradoodles and they are just so lovely and of course because of the poodle blood, they rarely moult and are fine for folks with allergies.

Enjoy your pup, you will have hours of fun and devotion, the devotion being a 2 way thing lol .

Hiya, very well, thank you! He was in our room in his crate (door open) and puppy pads by the back door! He didn't get out once in the night and only woke up when I go up at 5.30ish and then went out and did his business! xx

ahhhhhhh what a lovely Alfie, but the you know me most of the time I prefer doggies to a lot of people.

D.D. How is your Alfie, we would love an update xxx

My sis breeds cavapoos and labradoodles and she has just one little girl left from the most recent litter and if I was in Cornwall I would have her.

This is her at 2 weeks old.............
