Hi Everyone, sorry I haven't been around, a couple of reasons, although I have been lurking occasionally when I have had the time.
Anyway, Bank Holiday Monday was our 10th Wedding Anniversary, and when me and hubby exchanged cards after we woke up, he presented me with a night in a 5* hotel in Mayfair and a trip to the theatre and anything else I wanted to do during Monday and Tuesday. My very pregnant daughter had said she would look after the children over night so we could go away..... woohoo!!! Unfortunately I have my shopping delivered on a Monday and had asked hubby if I should change it to Tuesday last week but he said no, obviously knowing we wouldn't be there on Tuesday. So after the shopping had arrived and around 10.30am, we set off to London. Wow the hotel was The Metropolitan, next door to The Hilton and hosts the bar that all the celebrities fall drunk out of.... lol We arrived an hour early, but they said there would be no problem checking in early and they even upgraded our room to a £650 a night room as it was our anniversary.... lol The room was amazing, the bed was absolutey enormous and you got all the toiletries you needed thrown in, plus slippers and a bathrobe. We had Bose Speakers for the Ipod, a TV with albums, films and normal channels on it, an umbrella incase it was raining when we went out.... it was heaven. We popped along the road to Harrods and got ourselves a lunch that we could eat in Hyde Park (I had smoked salmon bagel and cream cheese) we shared a big plate of sushi and had these amazing little cakes from Harrods Patisserie, mine was a Berry Pavlova, with the most gorgeous sweet berries on top of the cream.... yes you have guessed it, watching my calorie intake flew out the window. Later that evening we ate out at a Theatre Restaurant, I had a big bowl of mussels in garlic and shallot butter, a Long Island Iced Tea Cocktail and chicken coated in parma ham and cheese sat upon creamed potato.... we were too full for dessert. We went to see Lady In Black at the theatre and then afterwards I fancied a hot chocolate, so we walked back to Leicester Square where we found a Hagen Daas Cafe.... they have a small book menu with things you can have in it. I settled for 4 small glasses, one had cherry and cream icecream with black cherries in the base, the next had mango sorbet with mango and chocolate brownie in the base, another had raspberry sorbet with rasberries and chocolate brownie and the last had fresh strawberries with strawberries and cream ice cream...... we did walk about a mile back to our hotel afterwards.... lol
The next day we went around the beadshops in London as I am getting back into jewellery making and visited Fortnum and Mason where we bought some yummy biscuits for us and a tin for my daughter for babysitting. We also had our photo taken at one of those places where you dress up, I wanted to dress up as a gangster or Wild west and we settled for Wild West and have some great Sepia photos of us as a reminder of our 10th Wedding Anniversary.
Oh yes forgot to tell you about the breakfast at the hotel, we had room service for breakfast as we had never had room service before and had our breakfast delivered on this cool table on wheels. I had a bowl of fresh fruit, mixed toast with Jam and Acacia honey, then little pastries (pain au chocolat, mini croissants and these little pastries filled with custard) and then we had a cooked breakfast, sausage, bacon, eggs, mushrooms, tomatoes and black pudding)... I was so stuffed I couldn't eat anything all day and didn't really want our chinese buffet that we had for dinner. Needless to say I put on 5lb over these 2 days.... lol and it was coming off nicely without too much effort, but we went out for the day visiting another church for a fun day and they supplied lunch which was a third of a baguette filled with salami, cheese, mayonnaise and salad and this made me put all the weight I had lost back on again.... needless to say I am back to trying to lose the weight again this week.... so that is why I have not been around lately, plus getting the children ready to go back to school and trying to sort out transport for daughter who starts college tomorrow. Finally sorted that today but it cost £196...eeeek for a term....
Anyway, I will try and catch up with the diaries and leave some comments tomorrow....
