Help! Scary menu!

    Hello :)

    I'm hoping someone can help. I'm going out to a restaurant this weekend for the Mother-in-law-to-be's birthday but I want to be as low syn as possible.

    I'm currently thinking that the Peri Peri Chicken with salad instead of chips is the best option (I don't like seafood) but I'm aware that the sauce might be a danger-zone!

    You could ask for the sauce on the side, and then it is entirely up to you how much you have. Not sure of the exact Syns, but at least that way you'd stay in control.
     
  4. There are also steaks, which can have the sauce served separately if you ask for it.

    And the same goes for the salads - ask for the dressing on the side. Any restaurant is used to this type of request and it is unlikely to cause any difficulty.

    The menu specifically says that they cater for dietary requirements, so just ask for what you need.

    Do you like salmon? The roast Cajun Salmon sounds nice.

    But most of all - enjoy it. It is just one meal, and if you make sensible choices then even if you do go a little high on syns, it won't matter too much and you can cut down the rest of the week.

    If I eat out I go for either grilled chicken or pasta in a tomato sauce. I think the peri peri looks good and like someone said earlier ask for sauce on the side.
    Enjoy it though remember it is only one meal out of 21.

    I would agree that the chicken or steak is your best better with the sauce on the side. Remember Gammon is free too, so you could always go for that and ask for the eggs to be fried with little or no oil. Remember though you do have syns to use so you can treat yourself if you want to :)

    Thanks guys, deffo food for thought - The gammon and egg didn't even occur to me, it seems like a real treat meal! I think I get stuck in the mindset that my syns have to be used for sweet stuff (I have a sweet tooth!) but, like you all quite rightly point out, it might be an idea for me to save a few to cover the meal and just enjoy it! xxx
