I've just had the latest Which? magazine through and it had some useful info on the difference in sizes in high street shops.

Apparently the waist of a size 12 in
    Next is 71cm
    Per Una 72cm
    Wallis 72½cm
    Dorothy Perkins 73cm
    M&S and Miss Selfridge 74cm
    Topshop 74.2cm
    New Look 75cm

Why are they allowed to do that?!

I wondered why i can only just squeeze in to my next size 16 trousers but other size 16s fit fine. It is madness they should all be the same.

I had wondered if you should make this a Sticky as I think it's something that many of us need to know. Who would think that Next would be more generous that M&S etc?

The biggest High St sizes as far as I have found are Peacocks. I'm 'usually' an 8-10 but even now at 2-3st heavier their 8s are too big!!

Does anyone know about Primark? Last time I lost weight, I bought a load of size 12 clothes from there. I was going to aim for a Next size 12, but wondered how different my Primark size 12's will be so I can use them to see how far from goal I am!!

Wow this is crazy!! No wonder all my clothes come from Newlook!! I guess i had an incline though as my size 18 Next stuff wont even do up, yet the 18 for NL is absolutely fine .... it wrecks confidence having to chop and change sizes... they should surely have to force retailers for standardise??!!

Crazy sizing. It's bad when you can't rely on the stores, makes online shopping hard too.
