Holiday advice needed

Hi guys

Going on holiday on Monday and will be staying in a b and b so won't be able to have much control over what I eat.

I'm also a real sucker for breakfasts while I'm on hols. The last time I went away I put on half a stone and I really don't want that to happen this time.

Can anyone give me any advice? I'm already thinking I can make sure I do lots of walking, have fish and mushy peas instead of fish and chips, that sort of thing, but if anyone can help, I'd be grateful to hear things that have worked for you.

When we were in the lake district I had in my head that I did not want to gain (and if I did I only wanted it to be a teeny bit!).

I had the car full of low point snacks - WW cakes/crisps etc for my cravings and tried to drink lots of water. We walked loads to get bonus points and I stuck to vodka and diet coke for drinks out in the evening, leaving more points for food.

We were self-catering so we ate in the 1st couple of nights and so those days I was able to stay more or less within points. It was a bit of a guesstimate the other days - but because I knew Id been ok for a few days I didnt mind relaxing a bit the remainder of the week!

Lots of B&Bs offer healthy alternatives of the full English breakfast - Depends how much you wanna stick to it - but you could think about emailing/phoning ahead and telling them that you are on a low-fat diet and ask can they get ww bacon/reduced fat/quorn sausages/skimmed milk in for you? or ask if they can grill rather than fry stuff for you.

However you are on holiday and we all work hard for our precious time away - so enjoy it and dont be a slave to the scales - you can always do a kick start week when you get back.

I find that if I bring ww bacon or ww bread they will serve me that as long as you ask in advance! It usually isn't a problem for a landlady to accomodate dietary needs-there are so many these days! And you could bring ww beans too! Sure an egg is only 1.5 and that would make for a relatively light brekkie, you can bring healthy snacks or choose healthier snacks and then at dinner you can find a healthy alternative in most places! :) X You'll be grand hun!

Thanks both. We're off to Filey with the dog so expecting to do lots of walking along the coast - going to visit Whitby and Scarborough as well.

I'm veggie and the b and b know that so I'm thinking eggs and beans for brekkie. Wondering whether to do Core rather than points but then I'm on hols so might want ice creams...

I have been honest with my oh about not wanting to blow the diet so if he wants pizza or something like that we'll have to find a place that does salads as well lol.

OH has just reminded me that mushroom chow mein is only 4.5 points so we might have a takeaway in our room one night.

Do you know about the Online Eating Out Guide - Noreen Blacketts website? There is a sticky link on the 1st WW page here - great if you are going to be eating at a chain and gives you points for pub food etc.

Thanks, I'll try and print some off for reference and take it with me. I'm going to miss my online fix every day though so might try to find a cyber cafe!

Avoid anything with sauce, they are lurking with points galore - I tend to avoid bread etc too. Just to be safe, but agree with the eating out guide! xxxx

I always carry a healthy cereal bar in my bag just incase i get stuck or over hungry , also it has stopped me eating on impusle in the past.
Not always
And i am still fat;););)

LOL Kaz.

Well I'm stocked up with sugar free jellies and alpen light bars and ready for the off. Trying to get through as many posts as poss before OH gets back and tells me off for not finishing packing lol.
