How Do I Make Psyllium Husk "Porridge"...?

    Hi all,

    I'll get straight to the point - I've been mega constipated (hardly anything for 9 days).

    So I bought some 100% pure Psyllium/Ispaghula Husks from the health food shop at the weekend. I followed the instructions on the packet and bingo! They have started to produce the desired results, shall we say.

    The stuff was pretty rank, something like wallpaper paste only not as tasty. I've seen posts now and then where CDers make it into some form of "porridge", possibly using vanilla shake? I haven't found anything to suggest how much shake powder and water to use with it - can anyone help?

    Also, I assume as its made into "porridge", you have it warm?

    I usually make it as follows
    Boil kettle pour about300mls of boiling water into a large jug, leave it to cool a few mins,
    add 2 table spoons of husk
    add i pkt of cd shake mix (i have used vanilla, banana, strawberry and choc)
    whisk it with the elc mix

    I will say it is a bit like wall paper paste im affraid but it is ok when you get used to it.

    Ive just had some for tea coz it something nice warm and filling.

    Hi Susan & MissMF,

    I made the porridge (poo-ridge?) like you said - half a pack of shake (banana) and had it cold.

    Loved it! Enhanced the shake in a good way (thicker, more filling). Had gallons of water before and after too, to avoid getting concrete guts.

    Having another one today (porridge thing I mean, not a poo - not sign of that yet, just a Fererro Rocher stylee thing last night - soz, too much detail).

    thankyou judders, needed to know how much husk you can have and it answered that. Oh what I would give even for a ferrero! Not a peep since saturday. Right husk pooridge for me!!
