Maybe it's just not the plan for you. You are not a failure, only if you give up trying do you become a failure. Come on, if you don't feel able to do the VLCD there are plenty of other options.

I'm going the healthy route at the moment; no nibbling between meals, low cal healthy stuff at meal times and no alch at all Mon to Thurs! So far, in less than a week, I have dropped 5lbs. I'm still eating, but I'm AWARE of what i'm eating instead of mindlessly just stuffing it in.

Now cheer up, you can do this, you just need the right plan.

    Good luck,

    Love

Yes you can sweetheart, break it down into days, hours if you feel better, there is an hour by hour thread on here which should give you a bit of a lift. I know how hard it is, but honestly if you can get passed the first day it breaks it down and before you know it you've done a week.

The first week is always the hardest and really I'm no person to talk, I've done this and lighter life 3 times now and never made goal but you just really need people to support you. Feel free to pm me if you want a buddy or keep drawing from everyone of this forum, they have a wealth of experience and really care.

Hope you feel better later in the day. Have some water and a nice black coffee and try to list all the reasons you want it to work then write down all the reasons to stop and see if there are any that are a good match. Bet you can't find one.

Lots of hugs on the way to you. Good luck!:)

Don't beat yourself up, you're only doing what we've all done. You haven't failed, you're just struggling, and if it's only a struggle then there's always hope. There is a plan out there that will suit you, read through the site and read other's stories and you'll find something that 'twigs'. You have to find the right diet for you, and there are different programmes within each diet, so you are bound to find one that you can cope with.

Remember your motivation for doing this? Write down why you want to lose weight, put up pics; anything that will help keep you focused on where you want to go rather than thinking about how hard the first week is. There are other threads on here that deal with keeping motivated and they can help.

Keep taking to us, we've got enough support to give on here to get you through the hardest times. Of course it's hard, you're trying to change so much, but it will be worth it in the end, and you are going to kick yourself later on if you buckle now.

    You can do it!

Im a bride to be as well

    Hey Honey
Its the same for me. I am on day 3 of the diet now and am struggling. This is the second time that I have tried to do it. I am just trying to keep myself busy and drinking lots of water so I wont feel as hungry. I am so hungry but it must get better because if it was this hard the whole way through no one would ever do it!

I felt on day one that I couldnt do it but it has got a bit easier.

When are you getting married and how much do you hope to lose?

I have lost 1 stone in about 6 months by trying to eat healthy but I dont want to be a fat bride any more. I think to myself that food will always be there - your wedding day is once in a lifetime and you will always have the photos to remind yourself...so go for it!

    We can help each other!!!:)

i hated the diet at first didnt like the shakes, the soups were ok but i then got fed up of those, but it does get easier if you can find something that you really like, have you tried the choc and bannana tetras frozen, they are lovely and take a long time to eat so you think you are having something more than just a drink, also the bars are really nice i think you can have those after week 2,try and stick with it if you can it does get easier

The first few days the hardest, you will be able to do this, have a chat with your CDC tonight and maybe start on a higher plan and move down next week.

YOU HAVE NOT LET ANYONE DOWN!!!!

    Best of luck....

You might have to earn that reward by posting a bit more because you can't do it initially. After a few days I noticed that it was added as an option on the top right of the screen under my username so now I can pm but I couldn't before

Just to say (and I know some people don't agree with this) it is possible to do this diet with cheating - just a little bit. I find that a little bit of cottage cheese here, a bit of chicken there and some real life mushrooms in my chicken and mushroom soup make the difference. Some people can't stick to the "little bit" principle, in which case it won't work. I can't deal with the extreme hunger of SSing, so I couldn't do this diet at all if not for the little cheats. I might lose weight more slowly, but its good enough for me. Perhaps you can discuss doing something other than SS when you see your CDC?

I have been trying since last September to start this diet!
I cant tell u how hard i found it.
I tried about 10 times and couldnt get by day 1
A few times i got to day 2 but then just spoiled it.
This time its as if something has clicked and i dont know wot to tell u wot it is!
I can certainly tell u everything that helps me tho

First of all, the photos i took of myself on day 1 disgust me enough to keep going
secondly, i wrote a list of all the reasons why i wanted to do this, i will pm u them
thirdly, making the choc packs into a muffin and hot choc sauce with tetras helped me soo much as its sooo filling and tastes great.
fourthly i have a friend who i've appointed to give me some tough love when i need it. when i want to eat i call or text her and instantly i get abuse back saying i'll only waste it for myself, i'll only kick myself afterwards, i can do it etcetc

i hope some of this helps, i kno Kelly won;t be disappointed in u coz as i say I've been tryin to start for months and thats me JUST in the swing of things. I hope u feel better soon xxxx

VLCD are a shock to the system - not just physically but mentally and SOMETIMES the 1st time is golden, sometimes its almost like testing your toes in the water.

Most importantly for me which might help you get through your 1st few days:

You must plan your packs & enjoy them

Thu/Fri - best days of week to start as you have weekend to de-tox

    Drink your water

Have early nights and long soaks in the bath

SS if done properly - need only be for such a short time & before you know it you will be several stone lighter - THAT statement in itself needs to be your MANTRA... Everytime you feel like caving - remind yourself that IF you stay on track - YOU WILL LOSE WEIGHT....

Come on hun - you CAN DO IT xxx

You are not a failiure. You have tried and tried to restart that says to me that you want to do this!

    This is good advice!

For my ladies who struggle I try to come up with ways to help them stick to the diet. Usually something visual. I do goal lists that these ladies can put in their eye line (fridge or PC at work or wherever) and I have a 1lb and 5lb fat blobs which are a very powerful visual tool. I also do manic things ;) like fill a rucksack with the weight already lost and that sort of thing! Its a case of finding the method that best works for you!
