Hiya Pete&Jo and welcome to Minimins. I have nothing to add as you have some fantastic avice off some great people already.

Just enjoy the changes you feel and see happening, your life really will turn around in a matter of week. Seeing the pounds and inches fall off really is what makes the diet worth it. I know its hard those first few days getting into ketosis but once your there life is a lot smoother!

Hi Pete and Jo. Have to agree with everything the others are saying. I am at the start of week 6 and 29lbs down. To begin with it is hard but after a few days I started to feel great - and still do.

I like the Waltnut and Toffee with hot water with a spoonful of coffee (same goes for the Vanilla) - and the Oriental Chili is lovely with a few drops of tabasco.

Good luck

As one of the few (er?) blokes here, welcome to the club.

I was about the same weight as you when I started - and just about to go to my third weigh in.

Best advice I can give is forget about everything to do with food - just look upon the diet as fuel and block the whole 'what I miss etc etc' out your head.

Easy to say I know, and watching the missus tuck into bacon, egg, sausage and chips last night was'nt easy......but even though I am a relative newcomer, and with another ten stone to lose, I already feel different. I can walk easier, breathe easier and certainly am not pespiring as much as I used to.

My health was the reason i joined - nothing else - and, with respect, at our weight (and my age!) it is paramount - to be told that you are morbidly obese is certainly a wake up call - and one which over rides any 'I am missing my chips' thoughts I have.

Stick with it mate - it will be worth it - but no doubt you have heard all that before.

Hi Guys and Gals,

Thanks for the words of support. It's good to know that there is an online community of people ready and willing to offer the support and I hope I can do the same as the pounds drop.

I'd rather not do it but it's difficult to resist weighing myself every morning on this diet as I'm definitely losing every day. Today is day 6 and this morning my scales put me at 9 lbs lighter. They're electronic and I don't know if I trust them much as they're about 5 lb different to what my CDC's scales put me at but it definitely shows that it's dropping off.

I'm a bit worried about going back to work next week though as I've been drinking so much water that I've been peeing about 20 times a day. I work on the phones and my managers not gonna be very happy about how much time I'm off the phones visiting the little boys room.

Docmel - send me a friend request mate so we can easily keep up on each other progress. Maybe we could start a Cambridge gentleman's forum where we talk about women, drinking vintage whiskeys and cognacs and smoke cigars whilst boasting about our massive... weight loss!

I'll leave it there as my stomach is screaming at me for food pack number 1!

Pete & Jo - good luck to you.

Pete I was 22 stone 8 when I did CD back in 2006, and like you I did it becuase there were things I wanted to do with my life that I couldn't because of my weight. I lost just over 100 pounds, which is the same as your target. Trust me when I tell you this, if I can do it ANYONE can!!

Hey Pete and Jo! Congrats for starting on CD, the first couple of days are tough, but your palate will slowly adjust to the tastes- I felt like heaving after every meal on Day 1!

I'm a newbie too, and had my first weigh in today; was well impressedas have lost 11.5 pounds!! And thats not just water loss, it's actual inches of FAT gone!

This really is THE diet to be on. Removes choice from the equation, and if you put yourself in the right frame of mind, you can't go wrong!
I've got over 100 pounds to lose too, so we're in it together...and Good luck!

absolute quality first post Pete&Jo... i laughed out loud at the food porn because me and my other half were like that when we started cd...

the thing that i took a while to get used to was when out i would think "oh i could get that for tea" and you sort of mentally go "oops no i can't" lol

pete i know exactly what you mean about visiting the loos all day... when you work on the phones, as i do too, it's quite amusing... my "walkaway" has jumped up quite significantly - my previous TL wasn't too bothered because she said atleast she knew why it had gone up... but i'm on a new team now and don't know how my new TL will see it as i am just restarting cd lol

Why not get a real guitar mate? Small amp, headphones so it wont annoy the neighbours. Will give you something to thick about other than food.

I am learning Bass guitar and although I am yet to start CD I have a feeling I will be spending more time with it than before.

I've never got on with guitars to be honest. I'm definately a drummer and that's what I'd love to be doing again. If I was going to learn any other instrument though it would probably be the saxaphone. I played the clarinet as a kid and always fancied the sax and over the last couple of years I've been more and more keen on the idea. Can't really do either in the flat but I do like the idea of an electric kit which I could play with headphones but again it's where to put it as we do live in a flat and don't really have the space.

Electric drum kits are not all that quiet - especially if you live in a flat. My daughter borrowed one put it in her bedroom. Okay, so didnt hear the actual drums, cus they were in her headphones, but what we did get was the thump, thump thump, from the bass drum and hi-hat pedals!! - pity the people below you (unless you don't like them or live on the ground floor!!)

#37
To be honest the thumping thing I don't think is much of an issue as we've never heard a peep out of any of our neighbours. You do get the occasional thump (I can particularly tell when the bloke upstairs drops the toilet seat by accident, which makes me giggle, that always makes me jump when I do that) but either everyone else is really quiet or we genuinely don't hear a peep and these places are really well built.

Hello my name is Paulina and its my first day on the CB diet. I have always struggled with my weight and after having my two kids I decided to do this diet.i struggle with PCOS so I know that it may take longer to lose weight. I just need encouragement. I found it hardto prepare hubby's, and 2 DD lunch today, but I managed to stay determined. Guys wish me luck. I currently weigh 93kg and my goal would be to lose 35 kg.
