Is my goal realistic?

Hii,

I am planning on starting exante soon (in 1-2 day) and been reading about weight losses on the forum and at the moment I have set a goal of 5 stones in 4 months and then start to refeed and lose the last stone(total 5 stones to lose). Is it an attainable target or should I set a more realistic goal? My BMI is 35 (obese :sigh: ) at the moment and hoping to get to a target BMI of 22. Any advice, suggestions would be much appreciated. I am trying to psych myself up for the up-coming weight loss :)

On average people lose 1 stone a month on this so theoretically if you stuck to it 100% for 4 months then that's 4 stone. Some people's losses are slower though so nothing's certain. Also you may lose more initially due to water etc, so yes I think it is achievable but only if u can commit 100% to it. The other thing is, if you're setting yourself a target like that, how will you feel if you don't achieve it in that timescale? Would it make you more determined or would you feel like you'd failed? If so then you could extend it by say a month? Either way just getting started is a massive hurdle to get over so well done for making the decision to follow exante!! :)

Id aim for a stone a month then anything more than that is a bonus :)

Thanks for your replies.
Hmm... Starlight i really like the idea of bonus ;) MissPiggy: I am not sure how I would take it....after all the years of struggling with my weight, I might end up feeling frustrated :sigh:

Maybe I should reset my goals! I initially set it based on the fact that I am going to visit my family on the 17 th of December , so wanted to be at my goal weight and surprise my family. My mom would be soo pleased, she is really worried about my health :) Plus show off to some of my relatives who has not been very pleasant about my weight  .
So had thougt to lose the 5 stone in 4 months and then start re- feed before I go on holiday and try and lose the last stone during the re-feed ( that would be approximately 6 weeks ),reaching my goal of 6 stones in total ( 6 stones total ,typo in the earlier post ).
So shall I aim for a more realistic 5 stones in the 5 and half months? And then the rest when I get back?
