It's BACK!

The SPD pain that is!!!

I have been feeling little discomfort for a good 7 weeks but the last few days I'm in real pain again!

It starts right from my kidneys and then works it's way down through my bottom and the front of my pelvis and down the insides of my legs......it's waking me up at night, no position I sit in is comfortable and it's making me feel so drained and tired.

Might have to boo another app with physiotherapy, this is the worst part about being pregnant!

Its such a b****y nuisance isn't it  I had it in my last 2 pregnancies and after my last baby now 4 yrs old it never left me. It got better but never left, I am told this is rare though so don't worry it will happen to you, its just that I know how you are feeling. Mine is back with a vengence too, I have been told to go back to physio but really begrudge it as I have had all the advice on it that I can take and as they can't actually do anything when you are pregnant I just feel its a waste of my time, it is worth going if you have not had the advice before thogh, so don't let me put you off, sorry I am not being much help am I
Sending big hugs your way and hope it eases a bit for you soon;)

I know I had one app already and she didn't tell me anything I didn't already know!

The only thing they offered were crutches!!! I can see me wanting them in a few weeks ARGH!

I have taken to paracetamol (sp?) this afternoon, which I do try to keep to a min whilst preggers but I have college tonight so don't want to be too exhausted not to attend.

I think I kicked chunks out of my poor dh last night in bed trying to get comfy.....I think he might resort to the sofa soon! Opps:(

Hi

I had this pain and thought that it was spd or sciatica anyhow I went to the chiropractor and found out that my pelvis was unaligned.

I've had 5 treatments at the chiro now and feel fantastic absolutely no pain.

Maybe try a chiro as mine specialises with pregnant ladies & knows all about spd.

Well that sounds good big bear because when I went to see my psysio I wasn't in too much pain at the time and she said my pelvis sounds if it's in alignment at the moment, so maybe now it's out!

Did you pay for this yourself and if so how much did it cost if you don't mind me asking? x

Sorry to hear that, it seems to be a really common problem on this board. Maybe it will go away again for a bit - can you think of anything that might have made it come back - other than the growing baby that is! :)

I have no idea, I just woke up one morning and it was back! tossed and turned all that night because my hips almost felt like they were going dead!

I rang a chiropractor and I think I will see one next month....really can't afford a couple of appointments this month!

I don't know where you live but are there any training schools for chiropractors or osteopaths near you? I find osteopathy amazing and I used to go to the training school when I couldn't afford treatment elsewhere as it was much cheaper and still very good. I'd imagine chiropractors have something similar - for the British School of Osteopathy, you got assessed by a final year student, who then had to present their opinion to a lecturer who checked it and only then was allowed to go ahead with treatment and the treatment itself was often supervised by the lecturer, I'd imagine it's always supervised on a pregnant woman. I loved it. Maybe osteopathy is worth considering if it's nearer or more affordable?

Sorry I haven't replied sooner..

It was £45 for the first appointment & £35 thereafter. To be honest we really can't afford either but as I'd had it for so long I thought sod it.

Someone told me certain health authorities pay for this but I'm not sure where to start & look into this.

I'm in London though so not sure if prices here are more expensive.

If you need anything else give me a shout usually on SW boards.

ahh bless you !!! i had a small amount of very painfull hip pain which (fingers crossed) seems to have resolved itself again with the help of my new pillow me thinks :0)!!
i cant imaging how it must be to have it all the time .
i hope you manage to get it sorted , try to make yourself a priority right now , i know its hard when it comes to money but you really must look after yourself . hope youre doing ok xxx

I have rang a place that sounds good, and it's only 20 mins away. The first consultation is £40, but if it they cannot help with it, it will cost noting. The appointments thereafter are £27.
I don't think this is too bad actually and am going to book my first appointment for the end of the month or beginning of July.

It just works out as a few quid one month really, only because you will have an app every week so looking at £150 in first month. But I want to invest in this for myself because if my pelvis is out of alignment that may stop dd2 from descending during birth and since I'm aiming for a vbac it's well worth just having it checked out!

On the upside I slept well last night, don't feel like a bull dozer ran me over in the night!:D

It's another lovely day but with a breeze:D so am thinking of somewhere to take dd and dh.........?

Have a lovely weekend everyone! x
