Not sure. The kick-start programme is meant to be similar, but works on 18 points a day if you are under 14 stone, and 22 if you are over that (i think!). It says that you can lose up to 5lb in two weeks this way, but it depends on lots of factors, and a lot of people probably lose more. I'm not sure whether it would be recommended to drop your points that low for two weeks. I suppose it would depend on how many points you are meant to be having anyway.
Id only do the 18 for the very short term kick start if youre going to classes. If you cut your points back too much it can have the opposite effect & youll end up staying the same or gaining. If you do go to 18 you should only do it for a week or so, however long the kick start programme is.
I definitely wouldnt go down to 16, Id think reducing by 8 a day will really affect your losses
