M&S sarnies and salads...

I have a lunch meeting on Wednesday and being the last of the big spenders the office usually get M&S sandwiches in for us.

Not had a lunch meeting since I began SW and I'm terrified I'll choose something horrendous by accident. Weight in for me is Thursday so by Wednesday lunchtime every mouthful counts.

Can anyone recommend any of their sandwiches/salads?

To be honest I wouldn't go there - I would take my own lunch. Ready made sandwiches are always high in syns because of the bread, spreads and mayo.

All prepackage sandwiches are high in syns. If you have a salad. Make sure any dressing is sperate. Maybe something with plain prawns or chicken. I'm not sure.

We get precious little perks in this job a free lunch sounded good. :sigh:

You could always just flexi and enjoy your lunch as well m&s samichs are rather nice(been a while since i had one). But yeah if you want free lunch and you dont mind flexy syning it(as long as you plan for it) or take those syns out of you weekly amount

If someone is going to M&S to buy the sandwiches, could you not ask them to get you a couple of wholemeal rolls or bread, some sliced chicken, and some tomatoes or lettuce? Then make your own sandwich which you know will have no butter or mayonnaise.

Or maybe get a pack of salad leaves and have that with some sliced cold meat.

Avoid ready made sandwiches as they don't qualify for any free food allowance, this is because although it might contain chicken for instance the main ingredient is bread which is not a free food. So SW have added ready made sandwiches to the list of items that dont qualify for any free food allowance.

Thanks guys...I'll bring my own salad stuff in I think. M&S sarnies may be nice **drools** but I'll be in a meeting so not really able to savour them. I might get funny looks if I start moaning as I chew.

I wish M&S would do some yummy sandwiches which could be low syn! The calorie values are horrific I seem to remember...I can make lovely low syn lunches at home...I just wish that prepackaged sandwiches could be as good! And as for full fat mayo...what is that about...I can't even bear to have anything other than extra light!

What about the sushi? I always get the m&s sushi packs as they are really low in syns and suprisingly tasty!

I can't stand any kind of mayonnaise - so most prepared sandwiches are out for me. If I do have to find something when I am out then I will have a Pret sushi.

they do a kind of non fish sushi which the meat and veg is wrapped in cucumber which is 1 syn for whole pack but for the life of me i cant remember what it is called

We were out shopping on Thursday and rather than go to a fast food joint we went to M&S to choose a "healthy" sandwich. Wrong!! The best sandwich option I could find was egg mayo but as it was on oatmeal bread I couldn't even HEXB the bread! It was 340 calories ... so not worth 17 syns!

Instead I plumped for a sushi pack which I hadn't tried before ... I was well impressed! This amounted to 3.5 syns. Hubby had a black rice and bean salad concoction which was 1.5 syns. Also bought a lovely trio of mango, pineapple & melon for dessert which was delicious

I really do not miss crappy fast food joints!

They also do a king prawn sweet chilli noodle salad. Think it was about 4 syns. Lovely too.

The snack packs of sushi are 1/2 a syn each on green. Yummy!

I love M&S for grabbing something when I'm out and about For small food halls (well, they are up here), I'm often spoilt for SW friendly choice, compared to regular supermarkets
