I dragged myself to the gym tonight and i actually enjoyed it  for the first time since starting CD.

Burnt off some cals and did a bit of toning.

Big pat on the back for me (nobody does it here for me )

WELL DONE!!!!!!! YOU DESERVE A BIG PAT ON THE BACK.
I did the Gym for around 3 months but then my weightloss slowed down to around 1lb a week so i gave up the gym and just did a bit more walking!!!!

I am desperate to go back to the gym as i found it was great for stress!!! but i just don't have the determination and also worried that my weightloss will go back down again!!!

SO WELL DONE TO YOU!!!!!!

For me it's better to be at the gym than at home where there is too much food to tempt me !!!

Well done on the gym! I've got my first session in three weeks next Tuesday... (holiday and knee injury have stopped me from going) Looking forward to it already!

On the putting on weight or the slowing of weight loss, I think it's because just after exercising, especially with weights, your muscles will retain some water, and also muscle weighs heavier than fat when you compare it per volume. So it may seem your weightloss will slow, but if you check, you'll probably lose lots more inches! And the weight will come off, I promise!

I have to say, I'm a tight size 12 to a small 14, and I weigh 12st 10lb. I'm 5'10", so realistically I think I should be a tight 14 or a small 16, but because of all the exercise that I've been doing over the past 9 months, I think that my body may weigh heavier, but my fat % is much lower than it was when I wasn't working out and thus my body is smaller...

That said, I still want to lose some more weight, LOL!

Yes, as mimosa says, it'll just be water weight. For long term benefit, do the toning. It won't burn up many calories, but muscle alone burns more calories than fat, so not only will you lose inches but you'll stand more of a fighting chance when you get to target.

Glad you enjoyed your time at the gym. If it's something you enjoy, you're more likely to stick to it. I can't imagine not doing it now. It's become a habit.

Well done :)

I have recently joined a gym (curves) and explained I was on a VLCD and they were fine about it and said that had others on the program on the same diets. As the time on each piece of machine is on 30sec I don't think it is too intense and have been assured that it should not affect weight loss. Though I have just gone into management (5st loss) and want to maintain this weight and tone up the flabby bits. This is my 3rd week of going and they will remeasure me when the month is up so I will report back on my progress.

Exercise and Fitness!

I got another membership of the gym three months ago and I got so carried away how much fitter I was with five stone off, I feel now looking back I over did it...I was trying to compensate in some way for not being able to do much the same time last year...

I just was so excited with what my body could now do...

I love swimming and have not gone in years because I feel so ashamed of my body, my husband loves me anyway:)

But the thought of other people looking at me in a swimsuit I could not bare thinking about.

If I get down another two stone I will go back swiming...I hope.

But the thought still makes me feel sick to my stomach as I feel so embarrassed :(

Mini,

Just keep in mind that almost every single woman feels uncomfortable in a swim suit... Even at goal I still felt awful! I guess it's a matter of attitude and changing your thoughts process... Also, most people in the pool are so busy worrying about themselves and their own lives, it's pretty guaranteed they won't even look at you... If you love swimming, just go for it!

Hi Mimosa,

The other big thing is that the one nearest me has the tiniest of changing rooms and it has no privacy whatsoever, I know this is silly of me, but I feel so uncomfortable.

I was thinking of making a big tent towel I could change under:rolleyes:

Perhaps if I went first thing in the morning it might be really quite and work around it that way...

Honestly mini - what mimosa says is true!

I went swimming last night and watched every single woman who left the changing room looking uncomfortable - and if you watched them closely enough - you could even see which bit of themselves they were uncomfortable about and which bits the were stratigically trying to hide as they manouvered thier way into the pool!!

There probably so busy worrying about themselves thwy won't even notice you get in!

oh and also - if you get a really big towel you can get changed under there with no one noticing - I've done it!!

Thanks Tasha,

I am sure once I do it once it won't be so difficult the next time, it is probably worse in my head just thinking about it and I really would love to get back swimming as it is really one of the best ways to tone the body...The back stroke and the breast stroke are mighty for the upper arms and chest wall...

These are bits I need to give some attention too! Bingo arms run in the family:mad:
