♥3 Years Maintaining♥
I have been of tfr for about 6 weeks now but over these 6 weeks my hair has gotten so unbelievably thin i am starting to look bold on top

Anyone got any good reccomendations as to what i can do?

I dont want to go bold

this happened to me when i came off LT last time hun. i was quite lucky because i had such thick hair, losing it was almost a blessing. it does stop on its own, but in the mean time, use a gentle shampoo like baby shampoo and stay away from straighteners if you use them, not for the heat but for the pulling. you could try curling it to make it look fuller.

feel for you hun xx

Im sorry to hear this Tanya chick!!

Hope your ok, mines still falling out but mine is really thick so Im ok it isnt noticeable yet xxxx

mine came out really bad for about 7 weeks then slowed down but now im back on lt so maybe thats had something to do with it not falling out anymore! its not a long term thing and it will grow back apparently! so you'll just have to grin and bear it for now!

Your hair isnt technically falling out, what happens is when you go on a VLCD your body stops wasting energy and calories doing things liek keeping you warm and growing hair.

Then when you start eating again, your body kicks in starting 'normal' functions, so the dead hair (which is still on your head) gets knocked out of the pores kind of by the new hair growing through - so you will be growing new hair although i know this isnt much of a solution for you :(

Maybe a new hairstyle? I dunno, mine fell when i finished LL a few years ago, but i have quite thick hair so it didnt really notice i just waited for it to grow back. Maybe take tablets like hair supplements to help grow your new hair lol

Sorry to hear about your hair-raising experience (or lack of it !)

I think it does grow back afterwards... but if not please take heart from the fact that Natalie Portman looks beautiful in this pic :D

Hi

I think, unfortunately, that by this point there's not much you can do. I know my Mum was taking supplements pre-emptively, but she was only on LT for a couple of weeks so it probably wouldn't have started falling out anyway. She went to see a hair specialist, so, you could do that, although they're quite expensive & it does sort of seem to be inevitable that it falls out after a VLCD, I know mine did after LighterLife. But rest assured it will stop & it will grow back!!

Oh sorry to hear that Tanya....is there maybe some thickening conditioner you can use, or use it at night and leave it in?

I have such thin hair too, so dreading this part if it happens to me! But I know it is part of LT!

Have you tried googling to see if there is anything that can help with it? I will have a go and if I find anything will let you know.

Try not to get stressed, as this could maybe make it worse sweetie.

Firstly I would just like to say very well done with your weight loss, your photos are great, you look so different. When I came of LT i had big problems with hair loss and went to speak to the dr about it as I could see my scalp especially at the sides, the advice was start taking extra vitamins, try not to worry as stress can make it worse and to not blow dry or straighten it. I started wearing my hair up for a while until it grew back and to be honest it is now in alot better condition than it was before so please try not to worry it does grow back quite quickly.

Had the same problem. My hairdresser advised a protein spray to thicken my hair up and it has helped xx

Girly, what is the protein spray? Do you know..thinking of getting it to go on holiday, just incase it starts when I am away esp with the water being so hard in Turkey!

I nearly spat my choc shake out at my lappy screen reading that.... but then I have a very dirty & infantile mind  :D

Try Nioxin Shampoo and Conditioner, bout £15 a bottle but encourages re growth and thickenshair follicles on what you have left.

I was dubious when the hairdresser recommended it but it does work

Heya :D

I did say once I think, I have fine hair and was worried bout hair loss, it's well worth the money. It's American so very few hairdressers stock it but Ebay does have it.

I do swear by it :D

hope it comes by a week tomorrow! but I will investigate cause I am petrified of it, as my hair is falling out at the minute with the thyroid and dread to think what will happen over the next few weeks..but thanks!
Hope Tanya sees this, will mention it to her though just incase she doesnt.

Thanks for that Wobbly, I think I'll sweet talk my OH to see whether one of the people he knows in the states would ship it over!

Being the awkward old bag that I am my hair started to fall out within weeks of starting LT. I started with thick and (if I'm honest) greasy hair that needed washing every other day and ended with thin, dry hair that I only wash once a week and use very different products on. I don't think it helped that I was still dying my hair (trying to hide the grey!!!!)
