This year’s National Poetry Day falls on Thursday 8th October 2009 and the theme is Heroes and Heroines! :superwoman: And I believe us all to be Heroes and Heroines for what we are going through at the moment!

That gives us around 11 weeks to go if anyone is up for a mini challenge until then! Or if any of you have any goal dates nearing the 8/10/09 join in for some extra incentive!

Also, if any of you are blessed with the ability to write poetry. Please, feel free to post any weight loss/weight related poetry! Maybe nearing the 8th of october we could vote on which poem was the best! And the winning person can be given the poetry crown! :queen::winner:

Il start it off with a poem i found on the internet, while i put my brain into action to write a poem of my own!

This Time..........

Another diet we're about to endure,
but this time we'll do it, of that we are sure.
We've tried all the others without much success,
but this is the one to get into THAT dress!

For years we've tried hard to lose excess weight,
and we now have the answer to looking just great.
For us no more 'chips' or 'Big Mac' on a whim,
we want to look good and we'd love to be slim.

We joined all the clubs where we'd regularly meet,
but when we read all the can't haves we'd go home and 'greet'.
They said don't have this and they said don't have that,so we'd paid all that money just for a chat!

We all have a wardrobe from size 12 up to 20,
and big, baggy jumpers of which there are plenty.
A drawer of small undies is a dream we all know,
so those big ugly knickers really must go!

With time passing quickly and teenage years gone,
we have no more excuses to rely upon,
The one about 'puppy fat' ran out long ago,
so this time it's business, let's give it a go!

I'm not a great poet (and don't I know it ;)) but here is my poem inspired by the fabulous KD's attitude to weight loss and maintaining (well kind of - she's not as corny :D)

The number on the scales causes misery or mirth,

But it’s not what defines you or measures your worth.

You can feel happy even though overweight,

And you can be slimmer but not feel so great.

The key to success is finding what drives us

And then we can see that success is inside us.

So what if you plateau? Keep plugging away,

If you've stuck to your plan then be proud of your day.

You have to like yourself whatever your size,

Accept who you are - that’s the true prize.

If you can do this then food loosens its grip,

Only then can you make this your last diet trip.

If it’s all about the scales the victory will be hollow;

Be kind to yourself and the weight loss will follow. :)

That poem is great :D! and you look amazing in your pics!
