    Iv been doing sw for 32/33 weeks now and iv lost 2st 8lbs so far! I lost 3.5 lbs this week but last week I put on a pound, iv broken past the 12 stone barrier Iv been stuck at for 5 weeks and iv been feeling like I need to start exercising more, I'm on the go at work all the time walking round the hospital and I always take the stairs and I think I need to start running. I have always done it in the gym but I can't really afford it at the mo and I'm scared of running outside where other people can see me! I'm also always finding excuses of not to go out and I have hardly any excuse coz we've just bought a house 2 minutes from a park.
    Can anyone give me words of advise of what I should do? I keep saying I'm gonna go but doing it is a different matter lol! X

    Maybe try walking to start with, then build to jogging and running?

    Start walking & then when you feel comfortable add in intervals of jogging. Maybe try a minute at first & then build it up as you feel ready

    If you want to start running, you really must look into Couch to 5K - I cant recommend it enough! Its basically a training programme that starts off with a walking/jogging pattern and builds you up to being able to run 30 mins continuously (about 3 miles/5km for most people, but it depends on your pace) It really is amazing how you progress in a short space of time, no matter how little running you did before. I went from having not run at all in 20 years, to running at least 3 miles 3 times a week after completing the programme, all in just 8 weeks!

    Take a look on the "slimming world teams" sub forum, and you will find a bunch of people working their way through the programme, so tons of support and encouragement too.

    If you have an ipod/mp3 player/ipod/smartphone etc its simple - just type "couch to 5K" into google, and you can download a podcast, or add an app to your mp3/smartphone.
