New to Cambridge Weight Plan

Hello all... mind if I join in???

Found this forum whilst googling The Cambridge Diet drop out rates..LOL!

I'm on day 27 of SS (3 shakes a day only) and am really craving reall food - so I need some whip cracking behind me.

I've read alot on here, that over there in the UK (I'm in south africa) the consultants dont normally start you on SS - normally you start on SS+... my consultant is adamant that I stay on SS shakes for minimum 12 weeks - and I'm 4 weeks in already and have only lost 17lbs... seems a bit slow for me (and I have 35kgs / 77lbs) to lose!!

Good to read that if you DO snack, to snack on protein as I had a hard boiled egg on Friday night as my stomach was rumbling!!!! I then had one rib at a bbq on the weekend (off the kids plate!).. and felt so guilty afterward!!!

Are there many on here on SS and if so, how are you finding it? I found day 5-10 the hardest.... then I got into the 'zone'.... and now day 27 and I'm feeling the need to "treat" myself for my good behaviour!:D My consultant would murder me if she heard me saying that!!!!

Hey, welcome

I done SS for one week and got by it but I found it to expensive so I went onto SS+ and I'm doing great on that having my protein meal really helps me, maybe you should try that if your really missing having food?

Thanks Scotty... On another thread it was also suggested SS+ but my consultant is pretty darned determined to have me on 3 shakes a day (and yes, it IS expensive) but I also assumed this was the QUICKEST way to lose weight??? Do you still lose the same average of 3-4lbs on SS+?

I was on 4 shakes a day when I was doing it, yeah and more this week I lost 5lbs, I've lost 2st2lbs in 5 weeks of being on SS+

i have such a headache today. day 3 on the ss option. wonder is that having an effect!
just wondering when do you all mainly get your water in. do you drink all day long or have a big burst. i keep forgetting to drink and then iv to cram 3 litres in

Hi guys, I've just got the veg flavouring n I love it!!!!! Gonna see myself living off it!!. I drink my water bit by bit, 1 litre first thing then I try n get in another 2 before school pick up. Then 1 after that!!! It's constant!. The headache will go rebecca esp if your drinking your water. X

Hiya, i drink mine throughout the day, luckily for me im a receptionist so i have time to drink all day! The headache will go with time and lots of water :D

Heaches, dizziness and being tired all go after the first week or so....

I drink my water throughout the day - I have 750ml bottles, and I have one before leaving for work in the morning - 3 during the day and 1 or 2 at night.... they say not to cram your water into a sitting. I'm also taking water retention tablets as I'm retaining water badly and feel so bloated!!

u all do so well with the water i think i manage 2.5-3 litres a day max i dont know how you all do it but i am havin about 800ml of flavoured water now so i shud be okay with that plus always have double the water in my shakes.
will be interesting to see does being on ss have any differnece in my weight loss compared to
having the small meal with ss+ if i loose anything over 4lb i think il stick at it as im really finding it fine and the no cooking helps! :)

I'm on ss and I love it as I literally have to do nothing. I drink 4 litres a day with ease! I use the water flavouring to help but find I am really enjoying it :)

Being on SS+ is basically doubling the carlorie intake, so I'd be interested to see too if you continue to lose the same amount of weight on the additional calories?

I'm fine on SS during the week - and I still cook for my kids - but weekends are hard!!! And being around people and socialising is very difficult.... I'd ideally like to SS during the week, and do SS+ on weekends ?

on ss+ i was loosing 4lbs every week and then it dropped to 2lbs for a couple of weeks and was then either 2-3lbs each week where as you all on ss seem to be loosing 5-6lb a week so well soon see
woke up had a cheeky weigh in and im finally seeing the 10st figure of the scales! its been years :)
iv already started looking up dresses for summer
exciting

I'm on SS and definately not losing that much a week.... I'm only losing between 3-4lbs a week and its frustrating me.

3-4 pounds a week is as much as anyone can expect to lose per week on Cambridge. The only folk who get 5-6lbs a week on a regular basis are those with lots and lots to lose - and even they find it slows down to the more average 3-4 pounds a week.

Believe it or not, you'd only lose another half pound to three quarters of a pound a week even if you were eating nothing.

And weight loss is a fickle thing - it never comes off in nice even chunks. One pound losses may be followed by two pound losses - and then a lovely big six pound loss. Average weight loss really means averaged out over the course of a month or more.

Keep at it. There's no faster way of losing weight without resorting to weight loss surgery (and even weight loss surgery doesn't work out for some).

Nooo, not doubling. :) SS-ing works out about 420-500 calories a day and SS+ing simply adds another 200 calories a day. Or another 1400 calories a week. And although it isn't especially accurate, it's said that you need to reduce calories by 3,500 over the course of a week to lose a pound. 1400 isn't even half a pound - so the difference in weight loss between SS-ing and SS+ing is less than half a pound a week. :)

so basically i should stick with my ss+ plan?

il do ss for a week to get my brain back on track and then i think il have my evenin meals next week because i do enjoy that. got to have some luxurys. even if it it just a chicken breast haha

Yep, I'd stick with SS+ (although by all means give SS-ing a go). But if you see a big difference in the amount you lose it'll just be a coincidence. I wrote somewhere else the other day that people try to blame all sorts of things for disappointing weekly losses (TOTM, not enough water, being tired, being stressed, having bars, being constipated etc. etc) but the truth is you'll never be able to pin it down to any one of those things. You'll simply never know.

Ah, the joys of Cambridge. :D

the thing i find hard about the ss+ is making sure i stick to the amount of food u shud have because 80g of veg really aint alot when u weigh it up so i think i end up with 200g cause im like o what can two extra mishrooms do to me. the reason i did like the ss+ though was because my body was still getting food so it wont be so shocked when i reintroduce breakfast etc. oh well at the end of the day iv never had a loss less then 2lbs and i think the most i lost on other diets was 2lbs in a year haha. so love cambridge for constant loss. just wish it would hurry up and fall off because its £100 a week for me and my partner and more if we do ss+ cause need buy food too. expensive times! x
