Hi all,

I'm new to the whole SW concept and to this forum (nice to meet you all!). I've tried all sorts of diets in the past, none of them seemed to work particularly well unfortunately. I'm now trying SW going it alone with SW 'cos I am far, far too shy to go to a meeting. So I wonder if you would all be able to help me get my food diary right please?

I should first point out that I'm vegetarian so I'll be following green or EE for this.

Today (green):
Breakfast - Scrambled egg with dash of skimmed milk (one squirt frylight) and 2 slices Warburton's wholemeal toast (HEB) with 1 tsp reduced fat marg (1 syn) and 1 tbsp ketchup (1 syn)
Lunch - Jacket Potato with cheddar cheese (56g - HEA x2?) and 1 tsp reduced fat marg (1 syn)
Dinner - Wholemeal pasta, quorn sausages, peppers (dry fried) and 2 tbsp green pesto (8 syns)
Drinks - green tea, water, orange squash and one orange berocca drink (soluble vitamin tablet)

So, how does that sound so far? What can I change? Have I got syns right (I make it 11 total)? Is HEA/HEB ok? Does the berocca drink carry a syn value?

I have planned the rest of my week's food already, would like to run that by you all too if I may please?

Hi and welcome to SW! Your menu plan looks fine although you've not had nearly enough fruit and veg today. A couple of things just to check - make sure your bread is from a small 400g loaf and not full size slices, and if you have reduced fat cheese you can have 42g for a HEA. You'll also need to syn your milk if not taking as part of a HEA. I can't help on the Berocca front but if you ate more fruit and veg you wouldn't need it (grin).

Thanks Circes,

I do usually have a LOT more fruit and veg than I have had today. I'm a weird person really, during the week when you'd think I'd have more stuff to keep me distracted whilst at work, I eat constantly and when I do that, it's all apples/bananas/grapes/carrot sticks/houmous etc

But, at the weekends I have no urge to snack in the slightest (like I said, odd person) so I have had far less f&v today than I do usually.

One of the reasons for the berocca drink is 'cos I was told that OJ (Tropicana) was v high in calories and I shouldn't have it. I would much prefer to have that really, the berocca was chosen 'cos it is orange flavoured... (yes, I know it's odd!) I can't find OJ on any list though. Is it a syn value? Or free due to being a portion of f&v for the day?

The bread was from a small 400g loaf :) reduced fat cheese is yick, so I had full fat davidstow cheddar and the dash of milk with the eggs.. would that be 1 syn then? I wasn't sure?

Sunday 7th Feb (green):

Breakfast - same as yesterday (2 syns, 1 HEB)
Lunch - at Mother-in-Law's, some lentil/courgette/aubergine and cheese sauce concoction. I have no idea how it was cooked or how much cheese/sauce went into it... no idea how to calculate this?
With green beans, carrots, peas, potatoes, parsnip.
Tea - SW recipe chips with 1tbsp ketchup (1 syn)

Breakfast: Toast x2 (wholemeal bread) with low sugar jam (2 tsps) (2 syns), blackberries, raspberries, blueberries with 2 tbsp 0% fat yoghurt (HEA/syn?)
Lunch: Homemade carrot, lentil and coriander soup (250ml) (should be with Ryvita, but I left them at home... d'oh!)
