Newbie with 4 stone to lose

I was the same- always had a bleed in my first week of VLCD. It is due to the estrogen which gets stored in the fat cells apparently!! Thanks for the app recommendation, there's an app for everything!! Love it xx

Agree that atkins can make you regular but low carb and other "fast" diets can cause extra cycles. Apparently as drop fat then all the hormones come out in body that were stored with the fat. If i go into ketosis i often get unexpected period - usually dont get anything at all due to ius. I know it's a problem for some if getting it more often as a pain - my view means the fats coming off:D

Now I think about it this happened to me last time I was on Atkins. I used to get the odd unexpected one here and there - which was odd as I was on tablets to make me regular because of my endometriosis. Not happened this time as yet but I'm fully expecting it at some point.

Waving back!!!!! :)

Well I has a kit kat today!!! :-( but there was a valid reason!!! Had a busy busy day, seeing clients, appraisal and then straight to hydrotherapy. Only had a boiled egg for breakfast and no time for lunch, had a funny turn in the pool and was promptly given a kitkat!! I used to go all day without eating and was never a problem but I'm guessing my TOTM was key to this!!

So a valid lesson learnt today!! We're out for dinner tonight as a thank you for looking after the in laws dogs, I should be excited but I just want a hot water bottle and bed!! Anyway I've got to go and am going to have a massive sirloin steak!!

Not looking forward to weigh in, had a good week but feel bloated and heavy :-( xx

I have indeed learnt my lesson!!! I really struggle with breakfast on atkins, I don't like to get up and eat, I would much rather have an extra 15 mins in bed!!! I like to get up and go!! I've managed to get round this by boiling 5 eggs on a Sunday evening and eating one a day.... On my way out the door!! I really do need other options, especially on a hydro day!!

Anyway just back from a meal out with the bf's parents. Went to a Greek restaurant in the end, I had fried halloumi for starter and a leg steak with green beans and cabbage. It had an apricot kinda goulashy thing which I scraped off but the lamb still had a spicy kick to it so was lovely. Feeling very full and bloated now!!!

Xx

Hi Kim - really interesting conversation. I've learned something new :) it might even explain my recent extra cycle too, god isn't the body a clever thing. You know it might not even be long before us Atkins ladies get in sync with each others cycles, it happens in households and at work I've no idea how, but why not here too.

You poor thing I hope you recovered quickly. You never mentioned how your appraisal went? I know what you mean about breakfasts. I need some ideas too. I quickly go off foods if I overdo them at one point the thought of eggs made me feel sick now I try to vary how I cook them as much as possible as I know that an egg a day helps my losses. Your dinner sounded lush by the way Lisa-Ann xxx

Appraisal went amazingly well thanks Lisa Ann! I love my job and am performing much higher than I should be. I'm a specialist physiotherapist but am doing jobs that the higher specialist Physio should be doing!! She's much better paid and is nearing retirement so has let things slip a bit which has meant me picking up the pieces. It's brill for my cpd and experience but sometimes it its very annoying that she's on £15000 more than me a year to do less- doesn't seem quite fair!! My boss is aware of it but just letting things ride until she retires.

Unfortunately when she leaves they are not going to recruit into her post so no sign of promotion or any extra hours (I'm on a 30 hr contract) and desperately need full time :-(. So that really sucks!!

-1 lb for me this week!! Those scales are really teasing me as desperately want to be in those 15s!!!! Maybe next week!!

Bf is working nights tonight so a lovely lie in together and bacon, sausage, eggs and mushrooms for breakfast!! Going to take the dog for a lovely walk and enjoy some time together. I just love the weekends when he's home :)

Happy happy happy :) xxx

Gosh that's a bummer about your boss - but it's fabulous that people are noticing how extremely well you're doing, hun!

And well done on the pound, a loss is a loss :)

Well done on appraisal - and raspberries to boss!

Haha force fed a kitkat!!!! I didn't put up much of a fight!!!

Breakfast was yummy, went and walked the dog near the River where there is a house up for sale!! It's our dream house and area, is over looks the river Severn and the bridge over to Wales. It's detached and just, well just lovely!! Has really inspired us to knuckle down and save save save over the next year!!

Went to Tesco and did the weekly shop- lamb on the butchers counter was half price so only £6 kg!! We got a huge leg of lamb which she cut into 2 for £12. I'm going to cook half of it in the slow cooker tomorrow for about 8 hours in red wine, garlic and rosemary mmmmmmm!!! Roasties for the boyfriend and green veg for me- love Sundays!!!

As for now, were snuggled on the sofa, cup of teas, ginger cake for him and pork scratchings for me!! I am truly lucky, we may not have the money, nice car or house yet but I have the bestest man in my life - priceless!!! :) xx

You are so right, what you have is priceless x the house sounds stunning, and a welsh view what could beat that?? X I am also having lamb tomorrow, going to try roast celeriac and having spring greens, now going hunting for a gravy recipe x

Meg, were even tempted to move over the bridge!!! We can get a lot more for our money but the bridge toll everyday would ruin us!!! :) x

Yep house prices this side of the seven are good! X but that toll is a killer!!! I thought they where thinking of lowering soon, when the bridge is finally paid for?? X

Loving the sound of the lamb - not had lamb for ages. love it but it's generally too ££££ for me!! Hubby always says I'm tight -(he's probably right but don't tell him I said that or his head will swell lol)

The house sounds lovely - fingers crossed it will still be available when you are ready to move or maybe you find something even better.

I never used to believe in fate but when we were looking to move I saw my dream house by chance one day. Unfortunately it was completely out of our reach and I was so down about it. We looked at other properties and ended up choosing another which was ok but just didn't measure up to my dream house.

Anyway with a month several things happened all at the right time (we were gazumped on the other house, seller of dream house suddenly had to dramatically reduce the price as they needed to move urgently for work, we suddenly found a cash buyer for hubby's house who wanted to complete asap and was willing to pay extra etc) and everything just fell into place meaning we could buy it - we couldnt believe our luck and I always think that it was obviously meant to be! Hopefully you will be just as lucky - you certainly deserve to be xx

I think that was the plan Meg but the bf works for the highways agency an apparently the toll will continue because it constantly need repairs!! Xx
