NSVs - Non Scale Victories

I went the gym this morning, and i have now decided to go every sat morning as i don't do / go anywhere first thing sat morning anyway.

So, once a month i always do a 'long run' (started on Jan 2012) on the cross-trainer, i decided that i would do it today. The first time i managed 2.5 Km and every month i try and beat that by an extra 2.5Km.. 2.5Km then 5Km and so on. So septembers 'long run' should have been 22.5Km but i ran this distance by july, but have never been able to go further.. but today, i smashed it :D . it felt great and i decided to just keep running.

When i felt i was too tired to carry on i pushed myself a little bit further (just to round the distance up) .. So after nearly 3 hours running on a cross-trainer and burning under 1,900 calories. i ran 32.5Km

I am now knackered, my legs are burning and jellyfied :p but i have a huge grin on my face.Soon i will have ran a marathon on a cross-trainer, it might not count as a real marathon.. but to me it will :D

F**K a D**K... Wow.

Sorry to follow up a second time, but what is your training schedule in regards to the cross trainer. You do the monthly big runs, how often do you do shorter runs?

No need to be sorry :)

Me and my sister go the gym 2-3 times a week (now 3-4 doing the sat mornings) we both do roughly the same workout but hers is about half the number of levels that i do.

normally i do a 5k or 10k on the cross trainer (depending on my mood), 2 mins on level 10 .. 1 min on level 15 ( thats just under 25ish mins for 5k and just under 50ish mins for 10k) trying to keep an average of 11.6 - 12.3 km/h

if i do a 5k, i'll also do 30 mins on a treadmill, level 15 for 20 mins, then level 10 for last 10 mins (might do a 5 min cool down, but not always) .. if i do the 10k on the cross trainer, i don't use the treadmill.

Sometimes the treadmills are full up, then i go onto the rowing machines for 15 mins, set the 'resistance' to about 5 or 6, and go as fast as is comfy, 7 1/2 mins palms down, 7 1/2 mins palms up and then go on the excersise bike for 15 mins on level 6 and just try and keep a comfy pace.

After that i'll go into the resistance weight room (weights built into the machines rather then freeweights thaat you add yourself , if you know what i mean)
and i'll go on each machine once, for a rep of between 25 and 30, between level 10 and 12 depending on the machine.. then i'll just walk about stretching legs or go on the power-plate and just vibrate all the tough muscles loose.

On a long cross trainer run, all i'll do is stretch my legs and go for it, it helps that there are a few tv's in front of you or i just play my mp3 player with good songs with a 'thumpy' beat. afterwards i'll go and get changed etc then go home and recover for rest of the day.

i also do 'half' push ups everynight (i can't get all the way down yet, so it's more of a halfway down bounce lol) as many as i feel like, (no preasure for silly numbers) and i have resistance bands, a powerball and hand grips that i'll sit at the computer and fiddle with.

2 and a bit years ago you wouldn't catch me doing any of this, now i really enjoy it. shame i never took it up sooner.

:D

Lol that's what I thought but my big toe seems flatter with less cushioning now. Random lol.

Two NSV's today.
First one was last night, I went on a night out and had a bottle of wine and an amaretto and diet coke...and then stuck to diet coke the rest of the night. Previously i would have had a bottle of wine, alcopops, tequila, apple sours...you name it. i'd be drinking it! Then i'd go and get a large pizza or burger and chips...whereas last night i went to the fridge and fished out a bowl of pasta bolognese i'd made earlier!

Second NSV was today. I had to be up early for work. I was a tad hungover...before i'd have reached straight for the takeaway menu or McDonalds, but today I ate strawberries and a banana...and i had scrambled eggs on toast with chopped tomatoes. This is virtually unheard of - it's like a new Annie!!

ive gone from a 8 to a 7. strange how your feet shrink!!

I got lots and lots NSV today, nursery staff came back after 6 weeks and everybody commented of how "fantastic" I look and how did I do it. they all have known I am on slimming world, so have they but none of them stuck to it ;)

Was walking down a walkway on the way to the toilet in work today, and i saw the HR (human relations) woman walking by the door. she looked at me smiled then carried on walking, stopped looked back and waited for me. when i got to her she said 'wow, your looking really trim' i thanked her and she asked me how much i had lost, she said it was amazing.

kinda scared tho, as she's the woman that writes all the ''whats going on'' newsletters for the bi-monthly meeting that get read out to everyone.. altho i am very proud with what i have done, i don't want it broadcast to everyone in the factory.. if people want to come up to me in private and talk to me about it thats fine. so this is a bit of a double edged nsv... happy but nervous :) :(

If she is a decent hr person she would ask you before publishing it... And if I were you I would let her know that it wouldn't be what you want...

I'm pleased with myself today, as despite only having a banana from 6.30am to 5.30pm as I had no time for lunch (first day back in school and it was absolutely manic...meetings, new policies and child protection training and putting my room back together after it's been painted and all the cabinets and desks etc left all over the lab! Grrr!) I managed to resist all the cakes and chocolates bought for us by the acting head, and only indulged in one jaffa cake. I'm going to polish my halo now! :D:D
