O/T Thinking of having my hair done... but

I am really fed up with my hair, it is dyed blonde as it has quite a lot of grey in it and I end up having to dye it too often if I have it darker, but I do actually prefer the blonde and am told it suits me better than darker hair. The question is I have only ever been to cheaper hairdressers and always dyed my hair myself including highlighting etc, and am thinking of having the works at a more expensive hairdressers, but it looks like it will cost in excess of £100.... and I feel a bit guilty about that, I would have colour, cut etc and the cut I want starts long at the front and is cut up drastically at the sides so it is really short at the back. I have had this style before and really liked it, but it has taken me a year to grow it out (not sure why I grew it out because I did like it) but it is now tatty, the colour is awful and I really feel I need something drastic, but wondering if at 45 I am too old to have such a drastic cut and spend so much money on my hair.... any comments greatly appreciated, you can see my hairstyle at the moment in the photo below...

Edited to add, the hairstyle I want is at this URL I think.... just ignore the colour....

If you want it you go for it.. I think you would look good with shorter hair.. a nice caramel colour would look good..

Why not get it cut same style jst not as drastic.. then if you love it go back for a cut n blow dry and get it done?

Forty five schmive

45 isn't old.

Go for it!

I got my hair cut and dyed at local hairdressing college for £8. I told the girl to be ruthless as its only hair and will grow back.

Green eyes!!
You are never too old for a funky "do". Go for it girl!! Spend the money, have it done properly and enjoy- ignore all the guilty feelings You ARE worth it!! Treat the whole thing as a fab experience, and if you don't treat yourself- who will!!!
Good lick.
PS I like the colour on the photo of the hairstyle too!!
xx

I love the colour too, its just that my grey would show through too soon, thinking of having blonde but where the red is in the picture having black.....
Thanks for all your comments, I am definately swaying towards having it done. Daughter has an appointment at the orthodontist tomorrow and right next door is a place called Escape, The Hair Sanctuary, looks very trendy and they have different kinds of stylists with different kinds of prices, so think there should be someone there that can cut hair as well as this photo.... may just pop in with my pictures and ask them....

As you know I radically changed my cut and colour and am 40!!

I used to go to a little 'blue rinse' salon and to be hionest though they were cheap my hair always felt cheap.. I now go to a lovely salon where the girls have on going training.
I am always in their for 2.5 hrs+ love it when they massage my head whilst washing my hair... and i feel I get a much better cut...

I used to pay £20 but this only costs me £68 for full cut and full colour (i always have three / four shades put in) I would say shop around the specialist salons as they are not all hugely expensive...

Go for it...

Ooooh looking forward to having it done properly... unfortunately I live in a little village in the back of beyond, we dont have much choice in specialist salons, so thinking maybe give this one a go this time and see if I can find somewhere cheaper next time, although touch up and refresh colour is much cheaper than the initial colour.... will ask for an estimate tomorrow on what it is likely to cost... will have to send daughter out the shop for this bit so she doesn't tell anyone though... lol

I'm 40 and naturally mid brown (with the greys coming in) and i've got the red from the photo and blonde highlights just now. I love it and rather than feeling i'm too old, it gave me loads of confidence to have something different. I did have it short in an inverted bob but its down past my shoulders and straight just now (dry and frizzy in real time without the magic that is GHD!)

Oooh booked in at 1.45 for the works, redesign, full heda colour and highlights... lets see now if I bottle out at the last minute... lol Will be back later...

Oh enjoy yourself hun, there is nothing like a good pamper. I think the cut will look amazing. I'm currently growing mine out from a blonde inverted bob- what you're getting :) I've gone back to my natural dark brown because I had to have it coloured every 3 weeks at a cost of £60. Couldn't afford that plus CD. Not bothered though, it grows quicker now cause it isn't cut every 3 weeks, so I'll have lovely long hair on my wedding day to go with my new skinny figure :D :D :D

Go for it you never too old! Your not that much older than me and i feel about 10 years older than you just now. I'll come to you for some advice when it's my turn :p Don't forget to post the piccies.

Okay, had it done, not as drastic as the photographs, but it does feel 100 times better and the colour is much nicer and yes I do only have the brown on one side and underneath at the back....
