Planned break...

I've now lost just over 4 st between diet/ excersize and s&s. I'm away on hols in a couple of weeks for 11 days all inclusive to the Maldives. Desperate not to put too much on, but am realistic that All inclusive puddings are going to be a problem lol...

The last thing I want is to put 4st on in 11 days lol... You might think it impossible, my body would have a good go at it!

Any advice?... Do I need to refeed? And if so how? / timeframe etc...

Any advice from people successfully taken a break without too much damage would be welcome. Hope your jubilee weekends are going OK, i feel hungry and deprived today x

I did a 14 day break at Xmas and New Year without refeeding and I put on 10lbs in 2 weeks and did have quite a lot of excess Xmas type food. I didn't refeed as I knew I was going to get straight back onto it afterwards. I took 10 days to get the 10lbs back off again and then I started losing 'new weight'. I don't think you'd manage 4 stone in 2 weeks but you could easily put on more than a stone I think. Whether you refeed or not is up to you. I don't tend to if I know I'm going straight back on the diet after a break but I have currently started a very very slow refeed to lose my last stone, reach goal and stabilise. Personally I think it's the refeeding at the end point that is the important bit, not midway through the diet if you intend to carry straight on after a break. You will immediately put on your out of ketosis water weight though so look at what you lost in your first week and assume that you will put that back on in week 1 as soon as you introduce carbs again.

Refeed is what you need to do when you reach your goal and want to come off the diet. It involves very gradually upping the calories levels, cutting out the packs gradually, and reintroducing carbs back onto your diet so that you don't suddenly gain from coming out of ketosis. My personal opinion is that the S&S refeed is too fast so I'm opting to take things much more slowly. Personally I think a proper refeed should take at least 4 weeks. I've upped my calories a little so far but am still keeping carbs low. When I get to goal (I've a stone to go) I will start to introduce certain carbs slowly. If you just come straight off the diet without refeeding then that can result in a big and immediate gain. People who go through the whole refeeding process properly have more chance of keeping the weight off than those who come straight off the diet and go back to their old eating habits.

Weasey is about to start her refeed and has posted details of her refeed plan in the refeed section of the forum so you could have a look over there to see what she intends to do. The main thing to remember is that we've done the easy part when we get to goal, it's the keeping the weight off where the hard part starts as with all diets.

Hi

I am going away for 2 weeks in July on an AI as well. I did LL last year before I went away on an AI holiday and put on approx 9lb. The worst thing is I don't really drink! I am a real foodie too. I for one am not planning to re-feed there or on return but I am going to try my damndest to make sensible choices or at least have ONLY ONE out of two weeks of debauchery!!!!

My plan this time is to get to 8st7lb so I have a whole 1 stone of 'play'! There is a method to my madness!

Good Luck
