Pregnancy and Slimming World

I'm getting sharp pains down below and quite strong Braxton hicks, just very uncomfortable at times. Probably just wishful thinking though, really want her to come in June xx

ok -seems sensible, and when am i supposed to have this bag ready for? hehe!

Maternity pads? are they different to Always super duper ultra? xxx
 
Yer an old nightie for the birth, preferably one that buttons open ( there are some really good ones in primark right now, just look like a big mans shirt). And yer pack some pjs, incase you need to stay in the night.
Maternity pads are like night time sanitary towels you only need a couple of packs of those for the really heavy bleeds for the first couple of days, after that you can probably get away with using normal sanitary towels, depends how long and severely you bleed x
 
O yer and bag is supposed to be ready to go by 35 weeks x
 
I put on 3.5lb in a week lol, I don't want to put on more than 3.5 for rest of pregnancy now (that would be the 35lb gain am limiting myself too). So what I just had after lunch? half a large bar of galaxy.

I started packing my bag but most of below not in it yet. as replying on phone I can't see what's written but I think in addition to the usual clothes for u and baby I have -
Water (gas and air makes u thirsty and they only have small cups at water machine.)
Breakfast bars (mainly for hubby as we get fed, they dont).
Tens machine
Nursing bras
Awful knickers (dont bother with disposable just buy primark and bin them or wash then).
Breast pads
Nipple cream
Camera
Phone charger
Slippers and light summer dressing gown.

I used always ultra night time pads last time. Bought them again, lot thinner.
Lactulose - this is def going in my bag, I suffer constipation and altho not been bad this pregnancy it was with Amy. I asked for some and was prescribed but took ages before they give it to me and then give me 10mls. 10mls works well now but at time I needed at least 20 twice a day to go at all. So this time am putting in my bag. Might but paracetamol in too thinking abt it incase have head ache.

Oh and my eye mask. Not sure I can get away with ear plugs tho as don't want to miss my own baby crying!

We have told our parents and siblings as it would have been nigh-on impossible to keep it from them as we are really close to our families but that is hopefully it…..for now!

I have my first Doctors appointment booked for 3[SUP]rd[/SUP] July and I went and picked my pregnancy pack up last night to complete! I had a read of the screening booklet and scared myself half to death with all the statistics so calmed myself down with a cup of my newly purchased caffeine free coffee.

Anyway, I haven’t been on mini’s for a while so I am going to have a nosy and a catch up with all of your lovely baby and baby to be stories.

Quick question.... When did everyone begin to show a bump?? A noticeable one? I'm 15 weeks and everyone keeps asking where my bump is. I can feel my tummy is slightly rounded and firmer, but to me I just look bloated!! I cannot wait to have a proper bump!!! :)
 
Hello everyone! Just having a browse here! I have just come off the pill & plan on doing some baby making in the next few months. I joined SW this week as it dawned on me that I don't want to be as big as I was when I fell with my first. I'm
Actually 2 stone lighter now but I need to keep this under control and hopefully through pregnancy too!!

How have you ladies found this? Are you following the plan or just eating what your body tells you it wants? How much have you gained if at all?

In my 1st pregnancy I went right off veg and could only eat melon & grapes!

Mine was noticeable from 14weeks I'm pretty huge been told I'm carrying ALOT of water as they think baby is going to be tiny. I think it depends on your height and build I'm tiny so there is nowhere for bump to go but out!! will show you a pic! xx

Hi!! Good luck with the trying!!

I'm trying to follow plan - I'm mainly eating sw meals, and trying to have my snacks within syns - until someone offers me cake and I can't say no!! I'm only 15 weeks and I've gained 6 pounds - most of it in the last 2 weeks, I was at target so I'm hoping I don't go too crazy!!! Xx

Im new to the site, iam really looking for help advice and people to talk to, i am 17 weeks pregnant , i have gone from 15st 2 at my 7 weeks appointment to 15stone 9,,, even though at 15stone 2 the midwife told me to lose weight :(. I am going to join slimming world online as of morning to try and help me get my weight under control,, i have appointment with consultant on tuesday because of my bmi, i really have tried to curb my eating and eat healthier, this week alone i put on 3lb! This is my 3rd pregnancy i was big with my first child and was 16stone 2 but i never put any on with him and was 3 stone lighter after birth using no diet just healthier eating,, this time round i cant seem to control my weight :(

hi hot mama, congratulations on your pregnancy. i wouldnt worry too much as we all have cravings at different stages. Maybe your having a different gender this time. With this one (a boy) i am definitely putting less weight on than with my girl.

Slimming World is pretty easy to follow when pregnant for main meals but its the snacks that are hard (well for me anyway). I just crave rubbish & i struggle not to give in to temptation. It eats away at me until i cave. That said some people follow it really well and hardly put anything on overall. I am currently at a 31.5lb gain and I want to keep it under 35lb so trying hard this week to hopefully lose even it only half a pound.

If you can I would suggest going to class, its a lot better than online as you get to chat to other people and support each other. People share ideas, do taster sessions etc. Also its something to do when the baby arrives lol

I have had two boys, first i naturally lost weight while pregnant and second i was only 12.5 stone n just put two stone on which came right off,,, my weight has been going up for nearly two years, (portions got bigger and i gave up on cooking).
This time i find if i really watch what i eat i can just about maintain, lat week i had a biscuit here n there and no major blow outs n a curry on the saturay and the scales went up 3lb!... midwife says i should try n lose or dont go any higher than 15,2,,,,, i got no chance, i got a right belly bump too, hoping alot is water,,, im going shopping in the morning and i will join online, i cant get to a class husband doesnt finish work till it finishes on a thursday, might see if i can find another! Im more worried of all the stories of forcep deliverys etc if you go to big in pregnancy,,,,i would be happy if i can just stay under 16 stone, is it possible to only gain 5 - 7lb in the last 23 weeks ??i hope so !

should add i have bad viens in pregnancy too which is why midwife is worried about my weight, they do seem ok at the moment though and no other health issues.
 
Some people do gain that little in pregnancy so yes its possible. Have a look at the main threads for inspiration as well as joining on line.

I do really like slimming world, and if u can keep your snacks down you will do really well (my problem is the snacks - i want chocolate, chocolate and more chocolate lol)

I think slimming world is good for people who like large portions (thats me) - i dont think it works as well for the people who are into salad all the time. The main principle of slimming world is cooking without fat and having a balanced diet made up of:
lean meats and fish, pulses, lentils, beans, pasta, rice, potatoes, noodles
third of your plate with fruit or veg.

Examples of meals are:
extra lean mince made into bolognaise and served with pasta (onions, garlic, mushrooms, peppers, carrots, corgette and tinned tomatoes)
or chilli con carne and rice (as above but add chilli powder and kidney beans)
or cottage pie - remove the peppers, garlic and tinned tomatoes, add beef oxo and once reduced top with mash potato.
chicken/ beef curry with rice (make with onion, garlic, ginger, mushrooms, peppers and tinned tomatoes) - add curry powder and we add sweetner and lemon juice making it a bit sweet /sour ish
beef, prawn or chicken stir fry - with rice or noodles (lots of stir fry veg) - i add a blue dragon sauce to ours, each portion is about 3.5 syns (black bean sauce for example)
steamed fish or chicken (put fish or chicken on some lemon slices) and wrap in tin foil. bake in oven and serve with skinny chips and veg. you need to syn ketchup.
cooked breakfast - ww sausages (0.5 syns each), bacon, tinned tomatoes, beans, mushrooms, and dry fried egg.

you get 2 healthy extra B (cereal and breads) and 2 healthy extra A (milks and cheese) as well.
I have weetabix and skimmed milk in the morning (all the other cereals give you a pathetic amount) and have my 2nd B as a slice of bread (you can have a coop wholemeal pitta though which works with a curry). I dont tend to use my HEA but am going to start since I discoved you can have 6 ryvitta crackerbreads as a HEB and half a tub of low low cheese spread as an A. Lol

Anyway - wrote a book, good luck joining. if your determined you will do well. Look forward to hearing how you do.

Hey welcome, you'll enjoy it here everyone is great. I was 15st 4 at my booking appointment and they didn't say anythin about my weight other than that I have consultant care as well, but I had c section so even if my weight was ok I'd still be under consultant. I had my pre birth weigh in at midwife at 36 weeks and I was 18st 2 :( but they never said anythin and consultant just said I need an anesthetic referal for a quick assessment but it doesn't effect my choice to have a natural birth.
