Pregnancy and Slimming World

Hey all - following missys lead and popping in to say hi :) 20 weeks today with my first baby and haven't felt brave enough to talk about it much on here yet but I'm half way and there's lots I don't have a clue about so will be really nice to meet 1st time pregnant mums and experienced ones :)

As I don't have a baby to show yet here's my 20 week bump pic, I'm very proud of it :-D

Look forward to talking with you all x

Hi nelly! You have a great bump!

Can't seem to quote again? I won't be batch cooking as there isn't room in our freezer between my wheat food, everyone else's normal food and the usual veg etc. It won't require much effort to chuck meat, frozen veg and baby potatoes into the slow cooker though. I'm optimistic that baby will come soon. Read up on accupressure last night so gonna try that. Hi missy, good to see you back Mama-bear x

Good to be back! Can't believe how close it is for you now, hope your little one doesn't keep you waiting ;)

We can't really batch cook either (we only have an under cupboard fridge with a tiny freezer compartment at the moment) so we'll be slow cooking too. Fortunately I taught husband to cook lots of SW things ages back and it's already come in handy with my first trimester kitchen aversion ;) I swear we'd have starved otherwise! x

Aw Nelly, you look gorgeous! There's something about seeing us ex ttc ladies with bumps that makes me all emotional <3 Glad to have you here hun xxx

Proper update from me then!

28+6 today so tomorrow is 29 weeks and also my birthday! Baby is being a little wriggle bum today which I'm very happy about. I was late feeling proper movements due to having an annoying anterior placenta but he's making up for lost time now. ;)

I've had so many lovely presents already for my birthday and have eaten far too much chocolate already ;) Best present so far? A packet of lemon curd tarts (obsessed with lemon curd currently!).

I'm getting all the fun food in now just in case - had my GTT yesterday and I'm a bit concerned about the results tbh. So enjoying my chocolate now just in case I can't later on! Started my iron tablets yesterday, hoping that I'll start to feel better soon as I'm horribly tired and lethargic and can only put then down to the anaemia really. Not getting much sleep due to PGP and needing a wee pretty much constantly doesn't help either ;) It's all good though and they've been happy with us so far so just hoping it continues :)

Mental health wise it's been tough but I think 20 weeks was the turning point and I've been much better since then. I have a CPN that visits once a fortnight and she's been wonderful as has my midwife. I'm seeing the specialist mental health midwife on Monday and I start compassionate focused therapy this week too (it's all about dealing with negative thoughts apparently!). So with a lot of help I am getting there slowly and the focus now is on making sure that I can not only get through pregnancy sane but cope well with a new baby too.

Weight wise? Well... that's a thing! I have gained 2st 2lbs from my lowest SW weight and good grief I can feel every pound of it. I feel massive but I'm not that bothered really, got a baby to grow! I know how to lose weight so once I'm settled with mister baby I can get back on it and maybe even get to target ;)

So here's the evidence - baby at 20 weeks and me at 28 weeks ;) After all that worrying I finally grew a bump lol! X

I know lovely, and you waited a long time for this! It's wonderful to feel happy isn't it <3 xxx

The kicks are the best, excited for you guys! Had my first kick at nearly 22 weeks which is a bit late but placenta was getting in the way ;) I was sat on the sofa at my mum's house and it totally took me by surprise! Now he kicks so hard you can see movement from the outside and I can feel him turning over which is the most bizarre sensation. Love it <3

Aww thanks. Still quite small but getting there :)

The kick was the most amazing kick I've ever felt :) lol

As for finally being able to join in without feeling that horrible jealous feeling.... I hear ya... 3 years of seeing AF definitely took its toll. But it's true... What's meant for u won't pass u by... N definitely "all great things come to those who wait"

Sex just doesn't happen though I've tried. Spd means it's all swollen down there. This baby is on the clock though so I'm trying a Lil nudge in the right direction.
Relax? What's that?! I have a 4 yr old and a 3 yr old. Been up since 6am and have literally only just sat down. Gotta go check my bag though as it was packed weeks ago when I thought I needed to go to hospital for an overnight. Getting a funny feeling and think I'd feel much better if I knew I was ready to go if needs be :)

Mama-bear x

You know you don't have long when everything down there is swollen. But I agree the thought of sex at term is too much for me too.
I do sympathise, I have 4 of my own rascals and relaxing time is rare. Even just ten mins is a miracle.

Good luck with the bag packing, it may well help mentally get you ready to allow labour. Exciting times though you really don't have very long left.

Missy after 4 babies I have no stomach muscles in pg they just flip aside to allow for a bump. Yours is just perfect for where you are.

Looking good my cakey friend! I can almost feel my stomach muscles complaining sometimes as they slowly give up lol ;)

Finally getting into it - it's been a bit of a slog and I don't think I'll ever totally relax but I think this is the closest I'll get. Starting to actually enjoy being pregnant, just as I come into the last few months - typical! ;)

What a fab bump u have. Luv the second pic. Amaze balls

Morning preggies, hope we are all well today x

On my brain this morning - baby names! Have we all got names planned or waiting to see whether baby suits a particular name? If you have names planned are you telling people or keeping it secret?

I know people who have announced the name along with the sex after their 20 week scan but that seems very final to me! Part of the reason we found out the sex was because we were struggling with boys names and wanted to know if we needed to bother giving it more thought (turns out we did lol!). We have decided on a name now and I'm desperate to tell people but don't dare in case we suddenly decided we're wrong and change it once he's born! Am getting loads of stick from family and friends who are desperate to know what it is but husband wants to keep it secret and I'm rubbish at secrets. Thoughts? x

We're not telling anyone (we always have done though). We want it all to be a surprise this time. Don't tell anyone missy, people will try to put you off or say thoughtless things but once baby is here they can't offend a new mum.

But tell me lol!!!!

My family don't know I had the gender scan (it's not announced at regular hospital here). I've picked my first name from the start but can't settle on a middle name. I think I have picked the back up name if it turns out to be the opposite sex but don't think I'll know till it's here.
I'd always said I'd never pick a final name before birth as it gets you too close to baby and what if something happened. Sounds bad but if you've named them, thought a lot about how they would look etc etc. Watching people lose their babies just made me worried about it all. However once the sex was confirmed I couldn't help but think yep that name really would suit the baby.
Think I'm gonna be screwed if it comes out and I suddenly need another option as nothing else has sounded right with my other kids names.

Mama-bear x

It's harder to pick when you need a name to fit in with other names. We've had the same problem and combining that with names that family have already used or avoiding the top names has been tough. In the end you just have to pick what you love I think. Our names are pretty fixed now I think but I have other ideas in case baby doesn't suit the names.
