Everything is ready to go, but I found bovril beef paste and only bovril chicken (not paste) so I bought both. Can I use the ordinary chicken one? It also says a tub but not what size, the chicken one is 125g and the beef one 250g. Any idea anyone?
TIA
Wendy

Thanks Julie I think I'll go with the chicken one it doesn't say concentrated but I'm not sure beef would be very KFC like lol. Was just a bit concerned because it seems quite a bit thinner than the beef but I'll try it and if it doesn't work will know for next time.

it is a messy business coating the chicken but it was worth it, I will certainly make them again, they are a proper Saturday night in front of the box treat!

WOW!!! A hit with the whole family or as Jamie my eldest said 'this chicken's blooming lovely'! Definitely making this again.

Jo like Julie said it is messy making it and after trying to drizzle the sauce over the first bit of chicken, I just thought sod it and dunked it in lol I have such finesse. It's easy to make you should def try it :D
I used a mix of drumsticks, thighs with bone and thighs without bone (which were also pre-skinned which was a bonus but TBH the others weren't hard to skin at all) I prefered the thighs, but then I always do! Hubby wants to try it with breasts next time so will give that a go.

I did the same as Wendy - cut up raw chicken breast (couldn't be bothered to boil first), threw in a bowl with the bovril/egg mix and then dipped into the breadcrumbs.

It was yummy! I omited the mixed spice as I didn't think it would go - did you use it Wendy?

I did a batch yesterday, as per the recipe, and took them along to group tonight - they went down a storm. I now have a large group email to send out with the recipe. :D

Yes Stacey I did, haven't made it before so don't know how much difference it makes. I didn't use the chillie cause I didn't have any and funnily enough the only negative I got (if u can call it that hubby loved them) was him saying it could have done with a little spicyness to make it exactly like KFC. So will def get that for next time.

absolutely superb.

Was thinking that perhaps if used nimble white bread it would make it a little lighter in colour .....
