you know if it says low gi on the packet does that mean it actually is...
coz the warburtons all in one bread says low gi...
but i wud have thought if it was it wud have been medium gi..
coz its a decent size per piece and tastes good too...
has anyone had this before as a gi diet and what do u think about the gi rating?

Hi babybaby

If it says it on the packet I guess it must be. Breads that have lots of seeds on generally are and the very high fibre ones. I'll try have a look around for you.

If it says low GI then that is good as low GI foods take longer t be absorbed.

Mixed-grain bread is good:)

Hiya Babybaby

the warburtons bread is low gi. As general rule in Rick Gallops book low gi bread should be wholemeal or whloeground (i think!) and should have at least 2.5 to 3% fibre per a slice.

So my general rule is think brown and 3% fibre.

Walburtons do a white low GI bread though. Tastes pretty much like white bread.

ok thankyou so much for your advice.
i haven't started the gi diet yet but am hoping to after cd.
erm...is there a rule where it says one or two slices per day. and how much pasta are we allowed to have per day?

Hi Babybaby

I'm not sure yet how much bread and pasta you can eat when maintaining, I'm still following the 'diet' part of the GI Diet. I would recommend you get a copy of Rick Gallop's GI Diet - you can get second hand copies off ebay very cheaply... I got one recently for my boyfriends's dad for 50p and it is in excellent condition. In the book you will find out all the weights and portions you need.

Take care
