S&S without a microwave?!

Hi

Starting S&S but often stay in hotels for upto a week at a time with work and they dont have microwaves available to guests - Ive checked and even asked due to being on a specialised diet but they wont provide one - the hotels are overseas, if they were in the UK I would take a microwave with me!!

I know this wont be an ideal solution but if I poured boiling water on say the porridge or the chilli or shepherds pie and stirred - would it be bearable?

I will try save the packs that need microwaving for home and the shakes etc for when I am away but I just wondered if Im willing to eat the savoury meals without them been in the microwave would they be edible?

Thanks

John

S&S without a microwave?!

Hey.

Our microwave broke down on my first week of SnS. I've tried doing what you think of doing.
Sadly it didn't work. Porridge tastes very powdery and the meals are simply inedible. They really do need to be cooked I'm afraid.
It might be a good idea to save the shakes and bars for your trips.
Also have you tried asking if they will let you use the hotel kitchen to cook the meals?
When I did LL a few years ago I used to take my soups with me whenever I went out for a meal to a restaurant and asked the chef to cook it for me. I've never had my request declined.

Good luck :)

I think some might work more than others, the cottage pie should be ok, I think one of the chillis the one without beans might work too but others wont.
Soups would be fine!
I used to have LL porridge without microwaving and it was ok, different not as nice but edible

Thanks for the replies. I guess I stick as much as possible to the soups/shakes/bars but I might try a couple of others just with hot water more as an experiment than anything else!
