Secret to shaping up

Hmmmmmmm, let me see. My targets are:-

To have a bottom rather than a wide, flabby and flat pair of buttocks :D

To have a waist :D

To try and firm up tummy and see if there are actually some abdominals lurking in there somewhere :D

To tone up arms, shoulders and back

So not much then...........I just want to feel better about the way I look rather than being driven by what I weigh. Does all that make sense?
x

So lets look here and make some suggestions.. Ive been thinking on using stuff ive seen on focusing goals and if you dont mind ive made put some ideas based on your goals using dates, measures and evidence;

1. to have by end Jan 2012 a bottom that is firm as measured by pinching it and feeling muscle, fits into jeans nicely evidenced by a photo and measures under xx inches.
2. a waist that measures xx % of bust and xx % of hips by end March 2012
3. to be able to do xx sit ups, xx russian twists by Jan 2012
4. to bicep curl xx kg from a kettlebell by Feb 2012 and pinch less than 2 inches under arms

I found that the more specific - by date, measurable and focused the goal the more achievable it is. Also you can ask yourself will doing this/eating this help me get to that goal? Ive avoided many temptations this way....

However, I have to confess this week has been (stress induced!) a rotten one that I have failed miserably but I know by using the goals that are measurable and specific I know what I want to get to, but just giving myself a week of respite.

This is great MartinD...

Hi all :)

Martin how's Mrs M getting along?

!
Thanks for asking!

All in all an odd week - her son is off to New Zealand travelling for a year and her work (she is a mental health specialist) has got her a wee bit down. Exercise is not top of the agenda, relaxing and support are priorities.

However, she tells everyone how good it felt and well get back to it. Ive got 3 weeks away too on a course too and Ive even found a gym nearby to carry on exercising!!!

Cardio week 4 advanced tonight :) wanted to relax, work is extremely busy, and really didn't fancy not getting settled down until 9pm, so now in pjs and hubby cooking dinner. - well beans on toast lol

Martin good to hear Mrs M is willing to continue when life has settled down a bit, and very organised getting a gym sorted for when you have to do your course :)

Haven't been to WI for a few weeks, so may go tomorrow, I normally work late and go straight there, so if work is not driving me nuts I will go. My scales show I am at bottom end of target so shouldn't be a shock!

Evening all!!
Well, I've decided to do my measurements today. So, after 8 sessions of kettleworx (+2 with ex-trainer), I have achieved the following (in inches):-

Arms -2.5"
Under bust -1.5"
Hips -2"
Boobs -4"
Waist -1.5"
Thigh -1.5"

Woop woo!!!

The funniest thing is that this was all achieved with only a 2lb weight loss... Makes me realise how important the measurements are.

WOW mama that's great! I am amazed at what you have achieved in such a short space of time, I am very pleased for you :) how are you getting on with your 8 x

Thanks Kron and Donzy, I am so pleased. I am pretty much solely using the 8kg now and can just about manage it. I tend to use the 6 on things that require more technique like the ones that you thread through the legs (so technical!!)

Lol

Wow Mama mia, that's amazing, well done. You must be very chuffed with that. I wish I had taken measurements -well, I wish I had found someone to take them for me as I did try but failed miserably!
I finished Week 3 (Round 3) tonight. Time is flying by. I am continuing to see a change in my arms and shoulders, above all. I love it! It has changed the way I perceive my body. I think okay, I might never weigh less than 10 stone, be skinny or a Size zero (not that I'd want to be) but I can, with some effort,, make progress, get strong and have more defined muscles and use exercise to reduce body fat. Kron, you started me on a bigger journey that you realise. Oh, and Ryan and his team of machines too! ;) xx

The cheaper one is the one to go for. As its on easy payments, which is what I did, you can also add a larger bell to it or buy one at Tesco.

I got the cheaper one too. If there's a chance to change the weight of the bell from 5lbs to 10lbs, I think you should perhaps think about doing that, as 5lbs is quite light. But as Susie says, you can buy another bell once you get into the SWING of things ;)

Mama that is an amazing result with only a 2lb loss, Go you girl xxx

:girlpower:
I agree, a dress size down for only a 2lb loss. It is reckoned that you have to lose a stone to drop a size by dieting, so I find it amazing that you can lose so many inches by this form of exercise. Owing to being so busy I have not been able to start my kettleworx programme. I am hoping to get going tonight. I have printed off the e-book and will fill out the measurements etc. Can't wait :D

Biggy, Susie and Chelsea Lou- thanks for ur kind words. I am pretty surprised myself too. I eat like a gannet and didn't think that the tape measure would say what it has. I'm more in love with Ryan than ever now...

I, personally, thank Kron for giving me hope where I was in doubt. I just didn't believe that 30mins could make a difference!

Have a wonderful day ladies....Mmwah x

Ryan could be Chief Whip :)
