Secret to shaping up

Body aches - check
Shoulders sore -check
Tired - check
Hard to get up from sitting down - check

Yup did Art of strength - Newport again. I hurt so much now its untrue. 50+ mins of hell. Still ill sleep well tonight.... weird thing though - i have a minor ear infection so my ear is blocked and when i work my neck on anything i can hear it crunch! my warm up sounded like rice krispies in my head

I did find on art of strength site some useful 1 minute clips like this one - Art of Strength - M.O.S. 241-250 which were quite good for info and ideas.

As an expert in ear infections I think I may be able to help you for a change!

The popping and crunching you hear is due to Eustachian tube dysfunction, normally temporary lasting about 7 days. As you are exercising your breathing changes and the airflow changes.

However to help you can try taking decongestants (orally), and when having your shower/bath and the room is steamy blow your nose whilst holding your head upside down. When clear hold your nose and blow gently until you hear the popping and clicking. Continue with the holding and blowing (GENTLY) several times a day, to improve air flow through the Eustachian tube. This should prevent sort of 'swimmers ear' hearing loss.

THanks for this

I have been sitting so my misses is on my right so i cant hear her tell me off ''dont know what diet your on but that wine wont help, can you tidy those weights away, dont leave your sweaty exercise shirt in the bathroom......'' is now just silence.

Doc has given me a spray and steroid. Ill try the shower trick - i shave in the shower now as its steamy and sometimes do a sinus douche taught to me by ent specialist. I get weird hearbeats in my ear too

The heartbeats are a form of Tinnitus, usually temporary when the sinuses are swollen pushing the artery closer to the eardrum.

My Tinnitus at the moment is a constant sound of a cistern filling on my right and a Factory like hum clack hum clack! Fortunately they are usually easily ignored but at the moment I am completely deaf so they are driving me clackers!

Anyhoo, Today I did C25K week one as a warm up, a freestyle swing (going easy on the standard swing, to save my quads) lots of upper body work, and a bit of core work Planks etc, then some interval training on the bike.

Then I went to the Pharmacy picked up and delivered my Mum's food (she's peg fed),and she lives up a steep bank well I carried them in twos (24x500ml bottles per box) and ran up the steps and back!!!
Just 6 months ago I needed a sit down after only carrying ONE box very slowly up those stairs!
It feels so good to be so much fitter!

It seems the thought of restarting is worse than the actual workout. Having restarted myself after about 4 weeks off, I hope to keep going this time!

Nice one Sweet Pink. I do my core first in the week to tell myself I'm easing in to the week's workout gently -We all do what we can to keep going, lol!

I couldn't either and happily did them (ok make it 'tried to do them') without the kettlebell!
