Shelbell's Baby Diary

sorry for being a pain

just wanted to say i am very sorry Charlie is sick and in hospital[he will be well looked after but i can imagine it must be very stressful for you]. i hope he recovers soon.

Still here, and will be for a few more days yet. They don't think it's bronchiolitus any more and are looking to eliminate some more serious problems with a barrage of tests at a local childrens hospital next week. So we're here until they are done unless he gets better before then.

This must be a nightmare for all of you Shel. Lets hope they get to the bottom of it quickly.

Sending you every best wish

M

Keep telling myself it could be worse M, he's not too bad aside from the funky breathing and getting tired quick, compared to some of the kids on the ward we're lucky. Would have been nice to have some support from my family, the in laws have driven up from Brum to visit but my mum hasn't been in and she's only 5 miles down the road!

Oh thats is a shame Shel but perhaps she'll be by soon, you could do with a hug from your Mum at a time like this

Very sorry Shel to hear that baby Charlie is not well and I am sending prayers and hugs he will be on the mend soon and make a speedy recovery.

Love Mini xxx

Sorry to hear that babe is poorly, hope he is better soon x

Just a quick update. Still in hospital, Charlie has had blood gases, an ECG, an echo and another chest xray. All ok so they've decided it's not heart related, but want him to see the specialist cardiologist on Monday anyway to double check. Now they are looking at severe reflux or a H fistula between his gullet and windpipe. He's on gaviscon and renatadine, and so far it seems to be helping his feeding (he had dropped from 5-6oz per feed to 1-3oz!) but he is still having breathing symptoms and tachycardia. They are deciding whether to do a flouroscopy to check but it won't be this week as the special radiology clinic only runs once per month. No idea when we'll be discharged, they are taking it one day at a time. He had 4 paediatricians trying to figure him out at the moment, the nurses were saying they've never known so many take an interest in one child!
I'm knackered after spending the last 5 nights here, have only left the hospital once for an hour to nip to sainsburys for supplies, while my mum sat with Charlie. So hubbs has arranged to take Wednesday off work if he's still in and he will stay over so I can have a good nights sleep and a bath.
