After what has been a stressful couple of weeks followed by a trip to the Dr where I came out in tears due to my weight I have reached desperation point and ordered the 28 day TMR pack yesterday. Was undecided if I should start today, tomorrow or after the easter weekend. I had told myself that if my packs arrived before lunchtime today then i would start today, if not i would grab some lunch and start tomorrow.

Anyway, the packs arrived just after 11am so I followed that with a trip to tesco to buy some scales and some spray to keep my breath fresh as I have heard that these diets can give you bad breath.

So my packs are lined up on the table and I decided to start with a chocolate milkshake which I actually enjoyed! I am quite hungry but feeling positive and I know it will take a while to get into Ketosis and the hunger will disappear.

I have just been weighed and I was 18s 6.4lbs. Fingers crossed I will be in the 17stones bracket next week when I get weighed in. My 28 days finish the day before my 30th birthday so I plan on being 100% until then, having a week off and then ordering another months worth after that.

I hope im not setting my expectations too high but I would like to lose 1 and half stones as my first milestone (28 days). I know that the average is 1 stone per month but hoping for a big loss in week one.

Think I will have one of my bars at about 3pm until then I will keep myself busy! I havent had anything to drink yet today so I am going to get a pint of water now. Can I drink green tea with lemon in does anyone know?
 
Hi 30thisyear and welcome to S&S! Just wanted to stop by and wish you luck. I started S&S about a week and a half go and all good so far.

In regards to losing just over a stone in your first month, I would say it is doable as I have seen others do it before with having a big loss in week one. I wont be one of those people though because I had quite a small loss in week one in comparison to most people :eek:

Can I drink green tea with lemon in does anyone know?

You can drink green tea but I'm not sure about the lemon, probably not because of citric acid. I'm sure someone who knows for sure will be a long to answer this for you though.
 
Hi and welcome 30thisyear! Special birthdays are always a good incentive to look the best you can so well done on making
the start! You could definitely lose that much if you really set your mind to it. The water is the key though so if you're not a big
water fan....BECOME ONE!!! I fill three 500ml bottles each evening for the work fridge and four at home so I know
exactly what I've had and take an extra one to bed so I can sip throughout the night if I wake up with the night munchies (evil thing!!)
and also neck the remainder as soon as I wake up so I'm slightly full by the time I get downstairs anywhere near naughty stuff!

Hi and thank you for the warm welcome, how was your first week? How long did it take you to get into Ketosis? I am really hungry today lol but I am sure that will pass i guess it doesnt work that I am off work so I am sitting around and thinking about diets / food etc where as my mind would be more occupied at work!

4lbs is still a good loss - I know I have set high expectations but I would be chuffed if I lost 3 - 4 lbs every week as it would still be a bigger loss than following something else.

I am going to do my ironing and cleaning now as that will keep me occupied for an hour and it needs doing. If I get through day one though tomorrow is another day and just need to concentrate on getting through that :) i know it will be worth it in the end!

Re the green tea - its what i normally drink and is in the cupboard but I might give it a miss and buy some normal green tea teabags to be on the safe side.
 
Thanks Shivie - think i need to start drinking lots of water and i like your idea of keeping it in bottles in the fridge!

I can't emphasise enough how important the water part is hun! And yes you'd be wiser to stay clear of any teas with fruit extracts
to improve your chances. I dropped a stone in 8 days (am still in shock - very nice shock!) so the first week, while being
the hardest, is the week that will be the making or breaking of you. Sounds harsh I know but I'm being honest.
If you can stick it out past day 3 you're onto a winner! I wish you all the very best....YOU CAN DO IT!
 
Day Two

I am still hungry!! I am just going to have my first shake of the day I am determined to get through the day 100% but im not going to lie I am finding it difficult.

Think I am going to go out after my shake for a look around the shops to keep me occupied. I want to push myself until i get into ketosis as I know it will be much easier then!
 
Day two was the worst for me. Its worth hopping on the scales, I lost 3-4lbs overnight and found it hugely motivating. Day three was a bit better and now I'm on day 5 and whilst it's still early days, I'm not hungry anymore and don't feel weak. Am still obsessed with food though - but that's probably because I ate ALL the time prior to this, so it's a habit.

Hello hun welcome to s&s! Just another day or 2 of the hunger then boom you will be in ketosis and you will be fine! It took me 5 days to get into ketosis, i was hungry all time but just kept drinking water or coke zero to fill me up then i woke up one morning and the hunger had totally gone, it was great!
The first week is always the hardest, keep it up, you can do it!!!! :D:D:D xxx
 
Just want to thank you all for the support! Is it possible to go into ketosis already? I think I might be getting there... my mouth feels really manky and I am not feeling as hungry... maybe I am just used to that empty feeling lol I dont know but I dont mind if it means I can manange another hour before my meal. I think I might have chilli tonight :)
 
Welcome 30TY.

I've been doing a vlcd since December - and it's amazing how the weeks past fast once you've got going and start getting the results.

It takes a while to get used to your new regime and some of us have tougher first weeks than others. You may well already be in ketosis. The ketostix are unreliable - especially as we are so well hydrated our pee is so dilute......so make sure you have that water = as it will help prevent gallstones.

I think you could be going into ketosis, it happens differently for everyone, when i did LT i went into ketosis after only 2 days, but s&s took me about 5!!
I think you will do brilliant on s&s hun, keep it up :) xx
 
Welcome 30thisyear :) you've done brilliantly so far honey give yourself credit where its due :)

I started at 18st 9lbs with Lipotrim which was hard to stick with ...I swopped to this diet just over 2 weeks ago and from starting weight of 248.6lbs ...using lbs on scales as easier to log on here ;) I'm now 1 week and 6days in and i'm down 10lbs! already :D With worrying about aiming high ...what's the worst that can happen?? You might just achieve what you aim for ;) ... always go 1lb at a time and count them if its not a gain. The 1lbs soon add up to stone! I hope that your doing well today and just remember the more ya pee the skinnier you'll be ;) (aka drink drink drink water) lol Also if you get stuck diet coke is a good idea for cutting the sweet tooth cravings ..which has always been my problem personally.

Tea's you can't have flowery ones...but leaf teas are fine :) and peppermint is yummy in the mornings very refreshing. I wish you well and am sure with the support people have here you'll get to your goal honey :) x x x
 
Wow 10lbs is a great loss it's you lot that are keeping me motivated I really don't think I could have even survived the last two days without the kind words and reading other people's diaries!

Well day 3 must not be in ketosis yet, I do have dog breath but I have a lingering headache this morning! I'm trying to keep my water levels up and hoping that will get me through the day.

Just had a choc cereal shake this morning which I really enjoyed! Tbh there is nothing I haven't liked yet. Had spag bol last night :)

Got a choc truffa bar at lunch and might try the macaroni for tea.

I'm at my mums and she is trying to feed me up so that's hard. She wants me to have a ham salad but it doesn't say you can have ham on the sheet which I got with the packs so I think it's probably best if I decline and stick to the sachets.

I'm here on Easter Sunday and thought I would have some meat and green veg so don't want to deviate too much!

Good morning 30TY,

Bless your mum. She just wants to do what she thinks is best. So thank her and give her a cuddle and stick to your guns! I remember my first stays with my mum and with my DMIL. Also if she's large or has been fat in the past, it may be challenging that you are taking action and have chosen a different path from the one she has been taught. So if necessray ask her for her love and support and then change the subject! The grat thing about S&S and Alizonne is you are eating some packs so it seems more normal to civilians!

If you still have a headache and are drinking enough water, have a headache tablet to get you through. WE laid down lots of hormones etc in our fat and our bodies, especially our livers and kidneys, have to work hard to process the waste.

Have lots of different things to drink - if you still are hungry or need diverting, try weak black coffee with sweetner or some vanilla shake, mint tea or regular tea. . It's nice to have something warm in your tum. You are teaching yourself some new habits - and calorie free drinks like these are a habit you need to support you at maintenance too.

End of day three, the day got easier as it went along. I was really hungry earlier, I wanted to wait until 2pm to have my bar but I couldnt do it so I had it at 1:30 but then I went into town, bought some peppermint tea, coke zero and bullion. I came home had one cup of each and then had some chicken and brocolli instead of my food pack and I feel really satisfied and less hungry.
I have also been drinking water inbetween this and I took a tablet for my headache and it cleared up. Had my last shake at 9:30pm to be honest I could have managed without it but I thought I should have it so that i get my daily nutirents.

Its weird I actually felt like I was having something naughty because I had some chicken and brocolli because I have not had proper food and I really enjoyed having it.

I am going to stick to my 4 packets tomorrow but have some meat and green veg on Sunday when my mum cooks a dinner. Think it might be beef though - will that be ok? I really dont want to go off track?

I am feeling really positive right now and I actually feel like I could manage the next 25 days (before my week off). Lets hope I feel the same when I wake up in the morning.
 
Personally I'd stick with chicken rather than beef. Well done for doing so well on your diet so far :) xxx
 
Could you take some of your S&S products with you to your mums??? You've done so well so far...you might end up kicking yourself if you stray and end up gaining after doing so well for the first few days :)

I took LT products on a weeks holiday as I didn't want to gain and we were in spain at the time ~lol~ I didn't care as when I got back I'd lost 7lbs ~lol~ everyone else had gained at least 5lbs ;) x x x
