Hi alI. I'm just about to start back on Cambridge tomorrow after 4 years and a second beautiful son, and what I thought would be a clear 3 weeks at it without socialising has already got a friend wanting to do lunch......how do others cope with this problem? I don't want to ruin it, but in also don't want to tell everyone what I'm doing either. Advice gratefully received ;-)

Hi Geemav,
This is tough especially since you're just getting back on. I understand, I have just completed week 1. It would have been hard for me to control my self at a restaurant that first week.

Socializing is my biggest challenge with this diet. Going out to eat is really all I do for socializing. In fact I'm in a club with work friends called O.T.E.C. ( out to eat club)Lol

This is what I have decided.
If it is an invitation for just me,not hubby, I try to get out of it if I can. If I can't get out of it for what ever reason I go and order a grilled chicken breast salad plain. If the invitation is for me and my husband I will usually accept. I don't think he should suffer.

I am with you, I am not willing to tell people about this diet. I feel I can stay in control and order responsibly now.I am also willing to accept that my losses might be lower.

Good Luck!

Same problem here, friend has invited me to hers tomoz and has said you can stay for tea, arghhhhh

Life goes on even if you are on a diet. Since Jan when I started I have been out for the odd meal then got straight onto the Plan and have still lost weight.

I think as long as you chose wisely, enjoy what you have and dont do it every day of every week you will be fine.

The more weight you lose and people start to notice it becomes easier to 'come clean' about what diet you are on but at the end of the day its your choice wether to tell people or not.

Like karrinae I'm lucky enough to be off for the summer too but then all my friends who work other jobs invite me out, I've survived birthday drinks out and managed water/ diet pepsi, leaving meals and lunches out by having chicken salad, tuna salad, egg salad or some other SS+ allowed food! I'm fortunate to be a heifer that I can Atkins style with a beef burger in desperate times when unvited out to
BBQs and have shifted 3 stone 4lbs in 10 weeks! Try suggesting going out for coffee then that way you can have iced tea, iced coffee or even have tea with a splash of milk (SS+ it for that day of course though!)

Like ROSB says it's about making wise choices and it can be done... You just have to think about how to work the diet around your life rather than trying to fit your life around the diet! Good luck with your journey lady :D ! Xx

Thanks everyone.....some good advice there. Will see how I go and keep you all updated. Bought some readymade shakes so perhaps they will help :)

I'm over half way through my journey now, will be at goal by November :D
I personallly find it extremely difficult to socialise/be in a new relationship with the elements of going out & about etc,
being cooped up indoors is alot easier for me, i have my shakes, my water, my bars, no distractions. But as soon as i step out into the big wide world, i'm facing everything i always gave into. I guess its about determination, the right mind set, being focussed and staying on track. If you want something bad enough you'll do whatever it takes. Make the right decisions if you're going out for meals, or being around alcohol etc. Don't let this weight loss journey keep you from any type of social life, just make the right decisions so you can have the best of both worlds :) x x
