Sophie's Slimming World and Cinema critiques!

My collarbones are just emerging, it's something I always notice in "slim" photos of myself.

Kick-boxing sounds fun but so does Karate... I've told hubby we're starting an activity together when I've lost more weight... maybe dancing of some sort or zumba.

Good luck at the doctors I hope the results are ok :) x

Try not to worry too much about your gain mate. Like everyone has said, salty food, a bit of alcohol, your body needs a flush :) Try and drink as much as physically possible over the next few days and you'll be ok.

Glad you've called about your MRI results :) Hope it's good news on Thurs.

I miss karate so much. And I'd just gotten back in to it after a good long break before I got ill. Was just up to doing my first grading! I love karate! I sometimes still do a bit at home, but there is no way I could train in a class now.
I do like tai chi. I used to go to classes for that too and have a pretty decent dvd. Doesn't half tire you out when you do it properly! I still do the couple of karate katta's I know too, coz you can slow them right down and not do full power. Might be an idea to learn some more from YouTube and use them too :)
Will hopefully build up stamina and activity levels over the year. I wish I could do the kind of stuff I used to, but I really don't see it as being possible. Kills me to think I might not be able to run with the dogs or ever compete at CaniX :( Ah well.... Will just see what I can do :)

Try not to worry about everything. Try and get yourself back on track and see what this week brings.xx

I was looking at Gymnastics classes today for adults- quite hard to come by for beginners though but I'd LOVE to be able to do a flip LOL! :p can you imagine?
Aw Cheeky, I hope things get better with your joints! Things might change... Maybe swimming would help?

This morning was low and sucked but I perked in the afternoon and forced myself to do half an hour of wii fit cardio (fairly gentle stuff compared to the kettle workouts but my glutes have been in agony today from yesterday's half work out! I warmed up properly as well :S)
Got really excited looking at Cambodia and China travel plans with G today- CHINA IS SO COOL! How did I only just find this out? :p haha. I'm psyched!

Totally re-weighing like a bad girl tomorrow as I (sorry for TMI) pooped TWICE today :p hoping that cools the gain down!

Red day today:
____

B: Banana, blueberries, muller

L: home made extra lean beef burger (HexB bun, HexA cheese) with lean bacon, ketchup (1), fried onions and loads of raw spinach.

D: Bowl of cereal (hexA2 + B2) with golden syrup (3) and a sliced up banana

Snacks: Chocolate muller dessert pot (5), choc mouse (4), small handful of honey cashews (4), nibbled at some of the nice stew I made, have frozen half of it in bags (freezer has started working again :S)

Syns: 17 (doh! Those damn cashews!)
____

G is taking me to the Harry Potter tour at Warner Brothers studios tomorrow ZOMG :D

x

I re-weighed this morning in desperate hope and a pound of the gain was off but still the other 3 were on :( oh well, a good slap in the face for being complacent about food and drink!

Harry Potter tour was really cool :D I am such a Potter nerd! Sadly though I had the extreme low energy thing worse today than other days :/ I didn't feel depressed, just 0 energy. We got interupted by what I thought was our alarm but it was some bloody ipad alert two hours before we needed to get up this morning and I didn't sleep great after that :(
We saw the Hogwarts model in the snow! It's a big model that was actually used to film the exterior shots- so detailed! The whole place was incredibly detailed- it's amazing how much thought and precision goes into something in the background barely seen... like potions bottle labels and posters and stuff!

Food today was a Red day with a slight extra HexB:
_____

B: Banana, scrambled cheesey eggs (HexA1), beansprouts, ketchup (1)

Packed lunch: HexB wholemeal roll with marmite, chicken slices and iceberg lettuce; muller light, punnet of blueberries

Dinner: Bowl of cereal (HexA2, HexB2 +2syns) +2 for golden syrup, banana

Snacks: mulled wine (8), small mince pie (7? it wasn't deep but wider than the bitesize ones), alpen light (half B2), packet of ham bites

Syns: 18 (over again!)
_____

Today was quite snacky rather than mealy, I really needed the mulled wine and mince pie during the outdoors break though- the sugar gave me a boost for a bit!

More travel planning today, here's the map of main places we want to visit so far:
Screen Shot 2014-01-20 at 21.58.05.png

Exciting :D

Just got weighed at my asthma check up and the stats on the nurses' computer said my BMI was 24.4!!! 13.5st!!!! HAPPY BMI?!?

WOW Soph! Well done, you must be feeling awesome right now! :D Did the nurse comment on your weight loss?

Your trip looks bleedin' amazing! You're pretty much going across the whole of East Asia, how long are you planning on going for? Only thing extra I'd add is Laos and Vietnam, but it's impossible to see everywhere in one trip. Must be tough deciding where to go and where to leave out, not that you've left much out by the looks of it.

Do you reckon you'd be able to make any money from your travel photos? Not sure how it all works but might help fund a longer trip.

Boo to 'normal jobs' when you get back, lol. I've been reading a blog written by a digital nomad, a lady who lives all across the world in different places and works on-line. Sounds like an amazing lifestyle. Got sooo jealous reading about all the fab places she lived in last year.

Thanks guys! I don't quite believe it ;) not until my wii says so anyway LOL! Shocked that it turns out I'm actually 6ft 1.5"! I thought I was 6ft 0.5"! So that has a bit to do with my BMI being 'Healthy' on there! I was so excited to see that- WOW :D
I hadn't seen that nurse before sadly so didn't get a happy dance :p I see a different bloody doctor every time I go to that practise for some reason! She weighed me as part of the asthma check up though and she commented at changing the stats that "wow- you've lost a lot of weight!"

Got a phone call about MRI and they can see nothing wrong with it :( googled it and a lot of people seem to have unexplained knee pain despite clean MRI (apparently until you slice it up and go in there you can't really tell :/ er... yay) but they have referred me for Physio and the nurse said if I don't get on with that the physio people will refer me to a specialist like they did with her shoulder.

I walked all the way to the shops that I normally bus to- turned out to be just under half an hour :O had no idea it was so short!! I swear I walked to those shops from the house I grew up in which is pretty much dead between my house and there and it took like 25 minutes :S weird- it only took 10 from about that point! Anyway, that was really cool, I'll do that walk again! I brought my laptop to do some writing in a cafe and the original plan was to find some travel books in charity shops, but no luck there. I went into a Thomas Cook place and got some brochures for more pictures and ideas though!
I text my friend Geeg (bestie who lives 15 mins walk away but I don't see much) that I was writing in a cafe and she joined me (she writes poetry) and we caught up then did some writing which I felt so good about- really gave me a boost to get stuck back into that story... I've always found writing as amazing escapism- kinda like a more personal adventure than reading a book and fiction really starts writing itsself at parts which is really exciting! I don't have much planned with this story, it's the same one from NaNoWriMo, I'm just letting the characters write their own story really and that's totally fun!
She left before me as she had stuff to do but we are possibly meeting tomorrow eve as she's volunteering a 5 min walk from my house, so will do some more writing together (but separately!) to motivate one another, and then I promised we'd make wholemeal pizzas, so I'm going to make the dough up and let it rise before she gets there for a double Hex pizza.
We're also doing a double date with our BF's on Saturday to the Korean/Japanese restaurant G and I checked out recently that was SO GOOD. The one with the set menu with the best prawn tempura, gyoza (dumplings) and glass noodles I've ever had! So excited about that- and as I said to Cheeky earlier, will be good motivation to try a slot a fast day in the day before as it'll be a great reward! After that dinner we'll go bowling in that area... And that morning she's going to check out this free karate class (free for first class anyway) :D

Feel SO positive from writing today and from walking a bit too. Half an hour there then about 15 minutes around the shopping area as it's a long high street,s o 45 mins in total :) cool. I wanted to walk home too but I had a heavy laptop on my back already and the brochures were thick and it all added up to a bit too much really. My knee is pretty crap already but I had the support on which helped, but my back was a bit achey just from shoppoing with the extra brochures. Next time though :) next time I'm having a bit of a dud day I'll head out there for the fresh air, focusing on writing and just to be out of the house.

I was starving after walking there (around 3pm) so had a kebab :D 5.5 syns for a small chicken doner without the bread and was really yummy! Loads of salad too! I went over syns again though as I had intense sugar cravings after and bought loads of treats in poundland then lost my will power when with Geeg :p but still- no carbs so feel good about the Red day despite over synning AGAIN. Tomorrow I'm going to reinforce strict SW- a 100% week before I go to Dubai next week and scoff myself with more hummus 'n sh*t.

Red:
_____

B: Banana, muller light
L: chicken doner kebab (5.5 syns), salad, ketchup (2)
D: One piece of salmon grilled with a tiny teaspoon of a teriyaki marinade (1), spinach

Snacks: small spinach, pepper and cucumber salad (1 for dressing), teacake (3), small milky buttons (6), marsmallow (1), bowl of Hex cereal, small sugarpuffs cereal bar (3)

Syns: 22 :/ *sigh*
_____

Even though I got weighed by the nurse today, did a cheeky re-weigh yest to check the gain AND did my proper WI on Mon... I'm having my mid week WI as usual tomorrow to keep my graph up to date :p and to see how far out the doctor's scales are to mine- sounds like half a stone!?

I took a pic of the screen at the doctor's which showed:
Height: 187cm (!!)
Weight: 86kg :D
BMI: 24.5!!

So cool! With clothes on too...!
I remember watching The Biggest Loser Australia and one girl looked SO pretty and slim at 85kg, she was fairly tall too which is partly why I chose that as my first target. Can't believe I'm there :D

Goddamnit! Binge ate two cups of cereal at 3.30am :/ wtf?! Quite unlike me but I just needed something and didnt give a f*ck for some reason :( badbadbad!

Mid week WI has me at 13st10, 5lbs out compared to doctors! :p
Have lost 2lbs so far of Monday's 4lb gain *sigh* has been a weird coupla weeks for my body!

Late night so slept late. Going to do some writing then try do a kettleworx workout. When I stand on the wiif bord with my feet at the very edges (how I always have weighed in) I now notice that my thighs dont touch there is a tiny gap at the top! I need to do more squats/kettleworx and make that gap bigger so that they dont rub when I walk during travels (always would chaffe if i had shorts or a skirt on unless I had leggings on!)

Did a Kettleworx exercise today and had a 100% on plan day :D feeling really good about getting the exercise in, really made me sweat! My bad knee has been aching more since though :/
I just googled kettleworx and it is apparently 6.3 METs, which if you times METs by weight in pounds you get an average for calories per hour. With this formula it works out 190cal burned in 20mins which is pretty cool :) bit scary to think that I'd have to do that 18.5 times to burn a pound of fat off though :| but it does raise my metabolism for 24hrs, and I can already see a difference in my arms from the past few weeks working with my new weights :O

Red day today:
_____

B: Yoghurt, banana, tsp golden syrup (1)
L: Salmon from yesterday (was in a rush and didn't have any superfree with it, woops!)
D: Pizza made with all 4 Hex's (Tesco Wholemeal bread mix) topped with onions, peppers, some pineapple chunks (0.5) and olives (1), tomato pure, mozzerella (HexA x2) and one low fat sausage rolled into meatballs (1.5), I also dipped it into some sweet chilli sauce (2)
Snacks: Muller light for pud

Syns: 6 + 2 as I had to add extra bread mix (dough was too wet) so it might have been a bit over hex's
_____

Pizza didn't turn out as well as last time sadly! Was nice to pick up and bite into something bready for once though :p overcooked it as directions were incorrect - only needed 15 mins at 180c not 20-30!

Felt really productive today but the day just flew by because I got up so late! My friend came over quite soon after I'd showered after my work out, but I'd intended to get some tidying up done. Hopefully I'll feel motivated tomorrow too- bags of stuff lying around needing sorting in our room from when we moved the desk downstairs. Need to throw away some old clothes too as so many don't fit anymore and haven't got room for all the recent stuff I've bought!
Tomorrow is going to be: project sort bedroom out!
x

Hey mate!
Super congrats on the healthy BMI again :D I know their scales are always out, but there's are the ones that matter to them, so ace result :D Weird about the extra " of height too lol! My Mum is convinced that she is 5ft5.5 and was even measured as that at the Dr's last week. But, I'm taller than her now and I know I'm spot on 5ft5  The amount of times I've been weighed and measured this last year I should know :p

I'm really glad you had a nice 100% on plan day today. Really made up for you! Can you send some of your enthusiasm my way?!

Knees are difficult things to look at and diagnose without actually going in and looking. They could technically go in with an endoscope, but I dunno if they do that much in human medicine any more. I'd be feeling the same as you though, they can bugger off! We still don't know what's wrong with my hips and knees. Nothing 'mechanical' coz I've had x-rays, but could be down to damaged cartilage or tendons or anything. Or could potentially ME/CFS I guess. Joint pain's horrible though, it really is. You definitely have my sympathy! Hope it's not too ouchy today.xx

Hey love!
Haha I'm not believimg the BMI until my wii does a happy dance in 4lbs time lol!
Not letting anyone slice up my knee!! I dont care too much about it generally but it did hurt a lot when walking loads in Paris and it inevitably will and hinder me a but when we travel :( also because it plays up after long journeys where it is at a 90 degree angle for a long time- so long flights and lots of long trains/busses out there wont help either! Grr. It hurt a bit through some of the squats today but I pushed through and it got better towards the end funnily!

I suppose my day wasnt really 100% as I didnt have much superfree at all! But I didnt overeat either :) I think being busy really took my mind off food...
Tomorrow I am actually looking forward to getting stuck inylto project tidy up (so weird for me!!) might feel differently in the morning though :p
Had some mince beef to use so cooked up a spicy dish ready for lunch, yum.

Did about 15 mins of arm weight lifting between turns of a game with risk, motivated to see my arms are looking better! Also arm weight liftng is a fraction of the effort of the kettleworx thing lol!

Sorry they didn't get to the bottom of things with your knee. So annoying! :( Can understand you not wanting to go under the knife with it, just hope the pain gets a bit better so it doesn't put a dampener on your trip. Have you found it's improved at all since losing weight?

How's project tidy up going? I need to start mine, been neglecting it since doing all this studying!

I'm glad you mentioned the height thing, 'cos although I'm pretty confident I'm 5ft 9 I can't remember the last time I checked it, must be over 5 years ago. Gonna see if Chris's Mum has a tape measure I can lend. Been meaning to get my hands on one for a bit, I need to get some new bra's and want to figure out the right size. Hopefully I'll have an amazing revelation that I'm really 6ft7 or something, so my BMI drops about 5 points! :p A girl can dream....

Writing in the cafe sounds nice, it's cool you have a friend you can do something like that with without getting completely distracted.

Hey CT!
Sadly my knee has been at ut's worst since I lost weight :S this summer it got bad- just as I got out of 'obese' BMI- weird huh?! I hope that physio will help but kinda doubt it to be honest.

Project tidy up was a bit silly! It ended up being project 'clear out old clothes and make more mess in the process' LOL.
I tried on LOADS of old clothes, admiring how they suddenly looked like a sack on me, remembering how I would squeze into them... And feelig appauled at how awful some of them were generally! So hard to dress nicely when poor/young and large :/ one dress I remember being my 'weekend'/going out dress was so awful- so cheap and tacky :/ I think I've only just started developing a sense of style recently also, cleaely before though whatever fit got bought wether the pattern/color was ugly or not!
I found myself throwing away (to charity shops) a few things I bought in the summer that I never wore, things I bought with that "oh look- something fits! Quick, buy it!" mentality, which I didnt really like at all!
I made such a huge mess going through all my clothes that I actially did more damage than good! Didnt even get through them all! I have three bin liners worth for charity/bin/my mum to check (she might want some of it), will be good to put new stuff in cupboards as it has kinda been left hanging over chairs/bannisters etc

Red day today:
______

B- cereal with banana (A1+B1, 2 syns for golden syrup)
L- spicy mince with loads of veg chopped in
D- two low fat sausages (3 syns) and another bowl of cereal (A2+B2 +5 syns for extra cereal and syrup)
Syns: 10
______

Ran out of superfree in the house! Had planned on having spinach with sausages but it was off :/ otherwise a 100% day though, phew. Cereal is helping with mynsugar cravings but my scales are out.of battery (and take a dodgy small type) so probably had wayyy more than 35g- allowed extra syns for it though!

I was looking through some old photobooth pics on my mac (selfie central!) and was SHOCKED by how fat my face looked :O really shocked as I never thought it looked fa before, but think.I was just kidding myself with pics from good angles on fb. Am writing thisnon phone but will do some before and after face pics soon as it was really interesting to see!

Great day planned tomorrow: trying out a karate class (free trial for beginners) with G, Geeg and her bf, then later meeting them for an early double date dinner at our fave (new) korean/japanese restsurant for a 100% off plan meal ;) followed by bowling. Woop!

My joints have gotten much worse since losing weight too! Around the same time as yours - moving from obese to overweight! I reckon Dr's just lie to us about this stuff :p
Actually, vets are just as bad ;)

I did the clothes ditching thing a few times. And I found quite a lot of things I'd bought to slim in to that I'd missed out on because they were massively too big by the time I re-discovered them  Having a clear out makes SO much mess!! My room still isn't sorted from when I had a huge clear out in March last year. It looks much better than it did tho.

Our digital scales died ages ago and have a stupid round size battery that seem very expensive to replace! Why do they do this?! So I use a probably not very accurate not digital scales.
Glad the cereal is helping mate :)

Good luck with the karate class. Be careful of that knee! I know you will :) And Mmmmm Korean and Japanese food. Amazing!!!
Have a fantastic weekend.xxx

My analogue scales are really crap too! And as the first actually numbered measurement is 200g- so hard to weigh anything less than 50 accurately as the needle is huge and scale ticks are tiny  stupid flat round batt, ugh! Am going to look in poundland as they are quite good for that sorta thing.

Think knee got worse after Florida, but not straight after so wasnt necessarily from the walking. Can feel it hurting with any exercise I do really :( kettleworx thing has loads of squats, wii fit 'cycle' is lots of fast steps like a light jog... Am torn about if I feel guilty for straining my knee during it, or guilty for not exercising! I do feel it when I walk for more than 5 mins too :(

Karate didnt happen today :( friend bailed but we went along anyway, but the free trial class was full of 8 year olds- no adults! It was a mixed group but we were the only ones above 4ft :( I was embarassed but also could just picture it being a slowww class of the sensei going around and straightening all their arms etc... If we liked the class there was an adult only one at 9am each week, but realistically we were never EVER going to get up at 8 on a saturday :p 8am is not an hour I ever want to be awake for, definitely not by choice! :p
While in the building though I noticed a trampolining and gymnastics class happening- I asked if they had an adult one and they do on thursday evenings :D perfect! Trampolining is meant to be awesome exercise and it's something G has always loved, and I'd love to get flexible and get practising hand stands now that I can (probably) lift my own weight again!
I was messing around in my bed the other day and managed to do that thing where you lift your legs straight in the air, held up only by shoulders/top of back- I could hold it foe ages and even bring my legs right over near my face- such a small thing but really made my happy! Used to do that as a kid and all sorts of cartwheels and handstands until it became too strenuous in my wrists.
So yeah- that'll be fun! Had been years since I've even done rollie pollies though so while all these dancers who go there to learn flips will be all skinny and lean, I'll be flab falling out as I roll around on the floor LOL. Will be in Dubai next Thurs but will set a reminder foe the following week :D

Got home and decided to push myself through a kettleworx workout instead as I wasnt feeling achey... So glad I did! Wasnt in the mood but felt really good after :D managed it all fine but did find my breathing struggled, lungs/asthma getd tight every time- probably just a sign of being unfit though!

Feeling the endorphins from it now though... I havent felt it work my arms that much so I doubled up for a lot of the arm exercises- they structure it for only having one kettlebell as that's what they send you if you buy it, so often one arm is doing nothing and then they switch. This time I did both arms through both sets of reps of each arm exercise- so both arms got a double work out :D
There are dozens of different work outs so even though the main moves get repeated a lot, each one has new ones. I am only really doing the cardio ones as I did one resistance and didnt really like it (sit ups, ugh!) but there were a few crunches and plank this time too- I managed the full 30 secs they did it which before (oct~) took a long time to build up to... Pretty chuffed about that! Yoga mat helped a lot though as was slipping about on the carpet before :p feel like I've earned the treat meal out later now; had a quick sausage as post exercise protein for lunch but otherwise am going to hold off until the Jap/Korean set menu now as we could only get a super early reservation - 5:30pm!

Dinner was fab! Had the set menu for 2 split with G again, my portion was:
2x meat dumplings (asked not to be deep fried so they grilled and pan fried)
2x big prawn tempura
4x maki roll sushi
2x nigiri
Half a portion of japchae glass noodles (yum!) with beef
Half rice with beef thing

Breakfat was banana and nat yog, lunch 2 sausages (3 syns), post dinner I had a naughty CUPCAKE that G bought me (he's trying to fatten me up!! ;)) and a hexy bowl of cereal avec banana in the eve as we had dinner super early (5.30!) and an activia.

Spent today reading the 5:2 book and I've decided tomorrow I'm going to do a fast day! I've planned it out a bit better this time. Book was really interesting and states that it is best for cell repair and general hunger levels to hold off on breakfast if you can, so am going to see how it goes in the morning but stick to green tea until I'm ready for a brunch. My planned meals so far are:
Oats so Simple pouch (100cal) with kara almond milk (180ml = 26cal)
Sainsburys basics baked beans (100cal for half tin - 64cal less than heinz but am guessing I'll need to add stuff to get the flavour good!) and I'm having them on thick white toast for once :D 110 cal.
I'll have a spinach salad at some point too amd have sf jelly setting (10cal) as well as home made ice pops (3cal each as used sf robinsons!) might have an alpen light at some point too.

I worked out my allowance using the formula in the book and my BMR is currently 2500 with light exercise, so allowed 1/4 of BMR on a fast day = 600 :)

Kinda looking forward to it :D definitely in a better place than last time I tried one energy wise, so hoping it is easier this time (and compensates for some of the baaad stuff today!)
X

Cant wait to hear how you get on. My friend has been doing 5:2 for almost t month but only lost 3lb so far :-/ I may give it a go if I cant get out of this rut I seem to be in!

Well done with the kettleworx, isnt it amazing how well you feel after exercise? I always think the hardest part is motivation.
