Sore Neck Doing Crunches

    Well, I have finally got off my backside and started exercising again. But when I do stomach crunches, I always get a sore neck. How do I do crunches properly without hurting my neck?

    don't tuck your chin in when you do them . when you are lying flat, pick a spot on the ceiling in front of you (if that makes sense) and keep your eyes on that spot as you do your crunches.

    are you doing crunches with your hands behind your head? That can pull your neck. I can never do situps without hurting myself so i just dont do them now lol.

    arms should be crossed in front of your chest ... not behind head

    All good advice, and another tip is to put your tongue on the roof of your mouth behind your front teeth while doing crunches.

    I cheated and bought an ab roller :D

    I've got a sore neck anyway after a car accident, so didn't want to risk making it worse.

    Hiya,

    always try to leave a fist between your chin & chest when listing up and as Dancing said - find a spot on the ceiling to focus on.
