I'm in such a rut and was hoping I could share with you guys, and maybe you might have some words of inspiration to help me climb out again. I did really well with slimming world last year. Stupid thing is that I start in October so as soon as christmas came around it all went to pot. Never really did get back on the wagon fully after christmas but I kept going up until April. Losing half a pound here and gaining half a pound there. I was always pretty good during the week, weekends much more relaxed, there was always more alchohol involved than my yns would allow so I would just not count on a weekend! Somehow managed to pull off half pound losses or maintains each week, probably because going to the gym alot counteracting the weekend but who knows. Anyway I decided to give it a break when i was told my cholesterol was really high (6.7). I told the doctor what I was eating and his response was "That's great just keep eating that way". But I though if it's so great then why is my cholesterol so high? Is it just my weekends that are doing it? Or is it something else? So I did some respectable research and discovered that low fat diets can lower cholesterol but sometimes they don't. Sometimes it's not what you exclude from your diet but what you need to include. Those things you need to include are healthy fats like avocado, olive oil, nuts and seeds. Well I was just up for trying something different and it didn't fit with SW so I decided to give it a break. Not long after I starting missing gym a lot because of terrible tummy problems. Feeling unwell went on for quite a while and eventually, with very little help from my GP I discovered by process of elimination that my body had decided it did not want to process lactose anymore! Yeah thanks body!! Given my favourite SW foods were mostly low fat dairy based this came as quit a depressing realisation. So now my diet is so limited. I struggle each day because although I can eat slimming world friendly within my restrcitions I am posed with two problems; 1) I use ALL my syns on heatlhy fats, sometimes even going over without a single "treat" in sight 2) All the food I eat is basically the same. Meet and vegetables with tomato based sauce. (rice and pasta stall my lossess too!!!) So I've been yo-yoing for a while. Officially been back at sw again but first week lost 2lbs, second week gained 1.5. Pretty sure this week won't be a loss either. I just don't know how to get going again, it's been so long since I tasted success I've forgotten how worth it, it will be. But with all my restrictions I just don't know how I can control my urges because all the little treats that used to keep the craving monster at bay are now replaced by things I don't even particularly llike but am just eating to help lower my cholesterol. Sorry for the essay. Any advice?
