Starting this week

Hi All,

I am a former Dukan girl (along with ww, sw, Atkins, harcombe... Etc, etc..) I reached target last Nov and have been munching ever since, getting on plan, off plan and trying a few new ones along the way. I watched the horizon prog and it sounded fab.

My issue is very much about being on a plan or off it, treating myself when off it, feeling like I can't socialise when on it... Having lots of 'last suppers' the days before getting on the wagon... This plan sounds perfect for me as I shouldn't have those unhealthy feelings.

I am starting on Wednesday once my kiddies are back at school and I am at work and able to focus properly, but I've been reading your posts and wanted to say hi before the big day ;)

I'm excited and feel like I should be able to really stick to this and deal with all those issues I have previously had. I know the dd will be hard, but worth it!

I have 20lbs to lose and hoping to get there by Xmas if poss :) no rush though, happy to take longer and see if I need a few more off once I get there. I'll have 3 dd's per week, mon, wed, fri.

First dd will be on wednesday - eeeeek!! :)

Will let you know know how I get on.

Hello I also am starting first dd on weds. I also am going to do mon wed and fri and a middle day on Sunday, I also keep having last suppers!

I hope u will b logging every day and we can do this journey together. What day are u planning on weighing in x

Hi and welcome to you both x Can I just say that you will actually be starting on Tues not weds as you should always start on an UP and as Tues will be a normal day then thats your first day done and dusted ;) DD s are hard to start off with and it will be trial and error as to what works for you i.e eating all your cals at once, spreading them out, eating early eating late, you will work it out and find what works best for you. I don't know whether you have been to the site to work out your cals but I wouldn't stress out too much about actual numbers generally 500/2000 is a good guide, keep your DD 's to 500 or under this is fairly important but don't beat yourselves up if it takes a couple of DD s to achieve it. Don't get hung up on the UP day cals, eat normally and aim for 2000, if you go over don't worry sort the DD s first and the UP days will look after themselves, but make sure you eat enough on your UP days you are not dieting on your UP days so don't restrict your cals to a weightloss level. You need a feast /famine approach. Another thing to bear in mind is that you tend to lose inches quicker so make sure you measure or check clothes that don't fit yet on a regular basis.
If you can give it a month before deciding whether its for you or not it will be worth it I promise xx

I'm a former Dukan girl too, I hope its successful for you. I'm quite new to it but I already feel that your body does the hard work for you on this way of eating, its like its what my body has been asking for all these years and its not like I'm "doing" anything (sounds a bit dramatic I know).

Best of luck.

Sam

Hi Couteax and Rosierose,
I started a few days ago. I've started a diary if you fancy joining in for some support x

I'm very I retested in this but confused. An somebody explain it to me?

Also how do I work out how many cals I'm allowed I'm 5.2 9st 9lbs

Hi what do you need explaining , the actual plan or something more precise ? :)

Babybelle go on the juddd diet website and you can calculate how many cals to have on a DD most ppl just do the 500 on a DD and 2000 or dont count at all on an UD

Yes you can go to Dr Johnsons site to calculate exactly , remember to use the 20% for weight loss but to be honest 500/2000 is a great guide. You eat 500 cals or under on your DD (down days) and eat freely on your UP days, Dr Johnson says to eat normally until satisfied do not intentionally overeat, the only reason the calorie guide for UP days is there is becasue some people need a guide to what is normal, don't worry about going over or slightly under but don't eat too few as your UP days are important to the plan too. Your DD s are the magic days as I call them, so treat them with respect and try your best to stick to 500 or under if you can't manage on your 1st few DD s don't fret but you should aim for 500 or under.
You can do strict alternate days or you can do a set pattern like myself and lots of others do , I do MWF as DD s the rest are UP, giving me the weekend off :)
Try not to do 2 DD 's together but you can do 2 UPs.
You can use your cals for anything on any day, obviously a healthy diet is what we should be aiming for but no food is restricted , remeber you are NOT on a diet on your UP days. Ummm can't think of anything else for the moment, have a nosy at some daries etc and you may get a feel for it. Its a great diet and the members here are great too, whats not to love x

Thank you that explains it 500 sounds so harsh though lol

Hi I started yest on an ud and today a dd, typical have come down with some sort of chest and throat virus but hey ho still feel positive, I keep reading that a lot of people do 3 dd mon, wed, and fri, and have ud tue, thur, and sat and an Id on Sunday, what is an Id, I was just planning to do alternate days do some weeks 3 dd and the other week would be 4 dd, will that still work, I list a lot of weight on lighter life and was considering s&s but feel i can't go through the shakes again and that this plan could be a wZy of life, please let me know your thoughts x

A Id day is like an inbetwern day so u woul have maybe 1500 that day. I am new too and I'm starting it that way. I think 4 dds would be too hard and ur weekly average would b less than 1200 cals a day and yr body would go into starvation mode and store fat x

This plan sounds do-able! Can I join your gang? I've been a piggy lately & need to get back on track & I want a plan that I can exercise & live normally on (I was a fan of Lipotrim in the past but it's not at all sustainable with any kind of social life). Started a DD today...

Hi, I'm not finding to bad, have come down with a virus today and throat really sore do don't fancy much, the thought that I can wake up tom and not have to worry so much within reason is a godsend, I really hope this is going to work, funny enough yest was my first UD and prob did not have as much as I should of done lol x
