Stig's Dukan adventure

Pauline, I do confess when I opened it, I was tempted to have a quick swig.
Oh that is a shame. I wonder if I should get some orange extract as well to make it more fun.

Hey stig, just caught up. Welcome and great start. Lookign forward to reading your journey and sharing in your losses (i wish it could be literal, I could share with a lot of people and reach goal end of week!!). x

Thanks Eccab77, everyone is dead nice on here. You can have 1/2lb if you like ! If we are sharing weight loss.
A few quick questions.
Do I use the Dukan website to figure my real weight as when I looked at it, seemed to suggest I needed to join up ?
How to I get one of those fab weight things you all have and are they free ?
Reading someone's diary people were saying they were looking at photos of other people on the forum (sorry really confusing). How do I do that please?
Had my cod with Quark and in a big lump it was lovely, me who did not want to eat fish yesterday. Going to get some more tomorrow.
Showed my husband me in my new dress, on one hand he got a slap (well in my mind) and on the other a kiss (that was definitely my mind and staying there). I probably led him but I said perhaps with another half stone it would fit better and he said yes(he was meant to say it was lovely as it is). Then he said that style of dress really works with my figure and suits me.
Keep going guys

Yes you can do that and it is free, go on the website and put your stats where it says know your true weight. You will get the questionnaire, fill it in and submit. You will get your true weight and the timeline of when you should reach goal. It will also tell you how many days on each stage of the diet. It then tells you how much it will be if you want coaching but you dont have to join. Stay here, coaching is free!

Go to www.tickerfactory.com and configure one. Click on weight loss, select your ruler then your slider, fill in your stats and submit. You get some codes, highlight and copy the bbcCode. Come back to your diary, click edit signature and paste. To update click on your ticker and it takes you to the factory and you can edit, it automatically updates the ticker on your signature.

I think to view people's photos you go to the photo gallery at the top of the page.

Its a shame you dont like fish, I love it especially salmon and prawns, hubby and I once ate a whole salmon side!!

Men! They dont get it do they? Good news though is soon that dress will fit nicely and you will be proud. Keep at it. Went shopping with hubby once and when I came out of changing room with a rather tight size 18 trousers he said just get the next size! I said 'You what!, no way I am getting size 20' He said 'whats with women and wanting to get 1 size smaller!' I came home and started Dukan diet. Today he said 'I cant believe those trousers' because 5 weeks on they are hanging around my tum my and bottom.

Yay for clothes hanging off us! Stig (happy drug induced by weight loss?), I have that chocolate extract from Waitrose and I think it's good but best used with cocoa powder (sugar free, fat reduced...) to enhance the flavour. I wouldn't worry about the alcohol at all as you only use tiny amounts.

Some extracts come in a base of oil and while I've used them occasionally, probably best avoided. The rip off flavourings from the Dukan contain alcohol so it's fine. Waitrose do some good quality orange, lemon, mint etc flavours - bit more expensive than some brands but also natural extracts, bigger bottles and stronger flavours. Lemon muffins rock with a bit of zest thrown in!

I wouldn't fear quorn, think I had the very plain chunks on attack, will check back for you.

Thanks Eccab77, was a bit worried I would have a subscription with Dukan if I put all my information in and end up spending a fortune. Will get one of those weight loss ticker things as well, they look fun.
Joodle thank you will put it with powder when I make the muffins. Now I am thinking the cheesecakes I made yesterday probably have the lemon extract with the oil, oh noooooo. I got them from Tescos. Will have a look and if they are wrong will replace them tomorrow.
I had three dilemmas earlier. One a 21st birthday party, a lunch date on Monday, three a curry out or at someone's house. 21st party is sorted, I checked the invite and it was last week !!!! I feel an awful lot of saying sorry coming on. Lunch is in a pub might be able to get an egg salad will be off Attack by then, if they do not do this any ideas, remembering I am veggie. The curry I have not got a clue, especially not drinking !!! I am out with the people I always drink far far too much with. Would a veggie curry be ok?

Curry with the sauces is a definite no no. Too fatty. You can stick with the dry chicken breast like tandoori and vegetables. If this is in a restaraunt I would stay away from the curry, they make it with ghee. Tasty though!

Wouldn't bin the flavourings with oil Stig, you're really using such tiny quantities, it won't matter. I mean, if you think it's causing you to stall then steer clear, but I'd be surprised.

I checked back on my attack food diary and I was eating the chicken pieces and sliced ham and some veggie sausages from Cauldron. Not as low fat or carb as chicken or white fish, but seem to be ok for me. Again, I didn't go crazy - 1 veggie sausage here and there and a handful of quorn chunks rather than scoffing the lot.

Can't help with the eating out thing so much. I've made myself a bit of a hermit since starting, which I can't say is going to help in the long term but has allowed me to focus and stay on plan 100%. Can you check the menus in advance so you can be prepared? Or make sure you have something to eat (pure white protein of some kind) so you're not ravenous when you get there? I've been out a couple of times when I've just had a milky coffee (skimmed milk, natch) while others ate. People aren't too fussed if you don't make a big deal of it.

G'luck - for me at least, it's the normal socialising that's going to be toughest.

Hi, Thank you for the tips on eating out. I checked the menu for the lunch date, there is salmon salad thing with pesto and egg, not sure if I could eat that without the pesto as I I only enjoyed salmon once, I will see if they can do me an egg salad. I am hoping the curry will be at our friends house and not in the village. That is going to be the tough one but if it is at my friends house I will take my own food, we get takeaway anyway normally. Drinking water is going to be the hard bit ! I have to be good as I go away in less than four weeks, our main holidays are usually winter ones but this year we are going to the sun (not that keen on the sun, when really hot) so need to show some flesh and wouldn't want the locals to go into shock.
Son has gone off to golf, must have breakfast , get ready and do really exciting things like housework. Pouring with rain so will not be able to do the garden. Be good.

Forgot to say my cheesecake tasted really good after being in the fridge overnight not like a squash ball. I made muffins today, they are ok but the cheesecake wins for me. Got some more fish. Can anybody on here speak Bulgarian ? Going there next month and need to know words like Quark, 100%, fat free and egg. I know a lot of the people speak pretty good English but sometimes I get a little stuck, especially in the supermarkets. There is an Lidl in the next village, I might have to check what they sell Dukanish!! I do not plan to be 100% good but would like to stay on plan as much as possible, so when the family ski later this year I will join in as this year I didn't(couldn't fit any of my salopettes and I have many different sizes).

Braved going on the official Dukan site and got my true weight. He thinks I should be 9 stone 8 pounds, Attack for 6 days, Cruise 120, con 171. So by November I might be in leggings tucked in boots; that's my dream for dressing next winter. In the garb Dr D sends out after you get your weight he was a tad mean,he said I should not go down to my lowest adult weight again as I would have loose skin; some parts of my body have gone so far south I am starting to think I am Australian !!
I am going to have to read up on Cruise again as I have totally forgotten what I am meant to be doing!
Looking forward to Tuesday my official weigh in day, I know I have lost but how much ????

Sounds like you're going great guns Stig! Am definitely trying your cheesecake if it's not rubbery. There's a great muffin recipe on one of the threads if you fancy trying that - I have to really force myself to have my oat bran any other way now as I love them so much. So easy - 5 mins max to mix up the batter then 20 mins in the oven.

Good luck with the eating out. As I'm really trying not to go off diet at all yet, I've been making sure I've eaten something before I go for a meal so I'm not ravenous and if there's really nothing Dukan, I can handle it. But on holiday you will want to relax the rules a bit I'm sure. I've got some Russian but not Bulgarian I'm afraid - and definitely don't know any translations for quark. Quarkov?

Skiing holiday is a great thing to aim for - lucky you, am so jealous!

Don't know about you but I even dream registed ukan ! I have been thinking about the curry and I am not going to eat. If it is at my friends house I will take my own food and I am not going to drink. If we go out to eat I will eat before I go. I am not going to ruin all this loss, I have put on my stats my fast two pound loss but I have lost a bit more and will put that on Tuesday my weigh in day.
My last day of Attack today, I am really going to miss it. I have loved Attack, I guess Cruise is not much different just have some veg and more bran!
Joodle thanks, I should just try putting ov at the end of words, funny. Dukanov, dietov. I am going to try and be good for 10 of the fourteen days. We have an apartment over there, with a kitchen so at least I can cook my own breakfast but as it is so cheap we do tend to eat out a lot and beer is cheaper than coffee; I usually have to come home to sober up!

It sounds like you're doing great so far! I couldn't wait to finish attack, as I missed vegetables so much. I'm going to have to try this cheesecake of yours :)

Stig your defo in the Dukan zone. I found on holiday I used my oats for my breakfast as porridge, salad for lunch and dinner as you don't eat meat or fish that looks like fish( my friends the same) bet you find your tastes will change, I found yoghurt alternatives but couldn't eat them yuk. I drank everynight g&ts, just be carefull with your choices.....this is for life we have to learn to holiday around our Dukan rules. Have a great day stig x

Sounds like you're all set - I swear that planning is the biggest part of the battle. I'm away next week for work and have just stocked up on little individually wrapped packs of beancurd. They're a little high in fat (but no more than salmon or mackerel) and salt but will be ideal if there's nothing else suitable.

I've been surprised how I've not felt deprived of booze etc since starting so you may find it easy to resist too. Hope so! Jx

Hi
Thanks for all the help. At home I never drink in the house, I guess I am a social drinker. Trouble being, I know it is not lady like but I love beer! I will try very hard as you say it is for life and J as you say I might not find it hard; today we had a coffee stop out shopping and my son had a muffin and the other cakes looked fab but I did not even have a crumb. And it is so bad and fatty stuff. Last meal on Attack, got some tomatoes, cucumber and aubergines today.
I have been calm whilst on this way of eating but I did nearly shout at a sales advisor today, I had seen a T Shirt earlier in the week that I thought would be great for going to the Olympics in, so today I thought I would buy it but no they had taken them off the shop floor to make room for their sale, I pointed out that they had a very small window in which to sell them and they were missing sales; no wonder retail is in trouble!! Sorry for the moan.
