I'm starting tomorrow on the EE plan which i love and have no problem with but my daughter(21) is going to join me. She wants to loose about 2 stone but is such a hard person to feed when it comes to packed lunches. Where she works is being modernised so no where to sit and eat or cook at present. She has been going to Asda and buying things to eat because she wont eat sandwiches that are home made. Crazy i know but have tried to change her. I'm stuck on what to give her for lunch so was wondering if any bought sandwiches are easy to syn. Her only other option is Mcdonalds near by.

Would love some ideas but she also has no fridge only a locker to put things in and her car to sit in.

Technically all 'bought' sandwiches are 100% syn - so divide the total calories by 20 to get the syn value of each one.

However, there's a number of debates on this site over the years where some Mims have deducted the calories of x 1 slice of 800g bread (where the sandwich is definitely wholemeal) & they've used that slice as their HEb. Overall, your daughter would be MUCH better off it she could get over he 'thing' for home-made butties (at least you know exactly what's in them & if any ingredients had accidentally been on the floor!!!!) otherwise she'll be using all of her syns + possibly more for a shop bought one!

If she's going to Asda, she could pick up cooked meat &/or salad etc instead of the sandwich or they'll hopefully have a café > she could either eat-in or take-away a jacket spud.

Can I ask though, if she's that particular, at 21 why are you worrying about what to make for her lunch?

i dont make her lunch she sorts herself but doesn't really like homemade sandwiches yet she would eat bought ones out of a fridge.

afraid asda got rid of cafe and put in mcdonalds.

no staff room, no fridge, no m/wave and only 1/2 hour for lunch. she will prob live on alpen bars and grapes just looking for low syn options. will be eating b/f and tea at home.

    thanks anyway

  5. I agree that at 21 she is old enough to work all this stuff out for herself. I am not saying you shouldn't offer advice or help, but she is an adult and must make her own choices.

With a hamburger coming in at 13.5 syns, cheeseburger at 16, chicken burger at 20.5, Big Mac at 24.5 & 6 nuggets at 9 syns perhaps she can pre prepare some free mini quiches, chicken drumsticks or some falafel to take in with some fruit/salad.

I would invest in a food flask and take food in that. She could then take leftovers, chilli, spag bol, stew or prepare home made soup.
