Support & Motivation from those who have restarted & succeeded (& from every1 else 2)

I’m not sure if this post belongs in here or the cambridge restarters forum but I wanted to post in here because its more active and I am looking for lots of advice and help.

Since finishing CD just before ramadan in september I have gained about a stone. But I think 5lbs is due to water because I tend to lose this within the first 2 days of restarting CD. I have made numerous attempts at restarting and I always only ever get to day 3 or 4. I don’t know what it is but I just let my hunger take over and then I’ll give in and have something to eat. I have been keeping a note of when I feel like giving up and why and I have found that I tend to give up when I go too long without my milkshakes and I’m starved or when I am stressed.

I am thinking of starting again tomorrow as TOTM should be over and a nice big loss could really motivate me. I am about 9stones 10lbs right now :( and I thought I could SS for a week to get into ketosis and then move up the steps.

I am very keen to get CD over with and this is the perfect month to do so as I have time off uni and my placement so I do not have to worry about commuting or not drinking enough water. The days are also shorter and I can stay occupied with assignments and reading. I dont have to worry about xmas dinner etc because i dont celebrate xmas and I’v also got more time to be on minimins which I found very helpful last time.

I wasn’t actually going to make this post today because I was afriad I would fail but I am hoping that I will find the support and help I need.

So if anyone has any words of wisdom they would like to share about restarting I would appreciate it very much. Also, if anyone needs a buddy I am more than happy to help.

I only have a few packs left from before so I should be able to start tomorrow but I cant get in touch with a CDC where I live. So I am looking for a CDC in Derby because thats where I commute to univeristy about once a week. So if there are any Derby CDCs about please pm me so I can discuss getting back into the diet.

I’m also looking for msn buddies, so if anyone wants to add me, plz pm me and I will reply with my addy.

I look forward to your replies and hope that I get through day 1 tomorrow with success.

I hope you are all well xxxx

Hi Maybe

Not much to offer in the way of wise words I'm afraid. You have made the right steps though - you have identified your danger times and triggers and that is half the battle. The next step is to learn how to cope with them. I find planning is the key for me, as long as I know what I'm having, when I'm having it and have all the necessary ingredients I can cope.

Try not to think about failing, go with a positive attitude, YOU WILL SUCCEED, keep telling yourself that until you believe it. Have faith in yourself, you have done brilliantly this far and it is such a small amount left to go.

Sorry I can't really offer much advice but I give you all the support in the world.

Come on girl, together we can get this last bit sorted!

Hi G, thanks so much for your encouraging reply, i appreciate it so much. I have a tendecy to take on a negative attitude with things because of what i have been through in life but i am trying to be more positive. I have got to the point where this diet feels like a roller coaster ride and i just want to reach my goal and maintain. Looking back i wish i hadn't taken a break when i was so close to goal, but ramadan was very tough this year and i thought a break would make things easier.

I am hoping that i will have success with starting tmrw. I know it will be tough because i will be home for most of the day but i am trying to make arrangements to go out so i dont feel like i need to eat. I'm also going to goout and buy 2 books to read because once i start reading i cant stop and i think this will help in the evenings.

I know i haven't got much to lose, but that seems to make it more difficult. But i am going to do this, I have planned a new hair cut and a new hair colour if i succeed as well as a new outfit, so i am eager to do this. I also have a party in january and i want to attent because i have missed so many because i always felt too big.

I know i can do this because i have done it before, its just getting started is the most difficult.

I'm sure we can both do this. You have done so well and you are nearly at goal. I know you will have no problems reaching your goal because you have the right attitude and you have come so far.

I will update you tmrw about how i get on and it will nice to hear how your day went too.

Stay strong and thanks again xx

I can't help but wonder if the reason you are always failing on day 3 or 4, is that with so little to lose it's simply too much for your body to cope with.Perhaps you should try SS for the first few days and then as soon as you get tempted to eat, switch to 790.Might be worth a try?

Hi, thanks for your reply. I have thought about this so many times. I do find that i am very exhausted when i get to day 3, especially when i am out all day. I also drink lots of water and still feel hungry. On my last restart i went from 9stones 10lbs to 9stones 5lbs within 2 days, so i think that was just water weight i gain over TOTM, because i always stay very bloated a few weeks after.

I only really want to do SS to get into Ketosis so i only want to do it for a week. I think what i need to do is find a CDC and discuss what do. I'm so keen to get this weight off because what i have gained has gone straight to my bottom (as always) and i hate it (although fiance is very happy, lol) and a little to the face, which only i can see for some reason

Hey Maybe

You are sounding more positive already which is great! We will get you through tomorrow, grit your teeth, you can do it. Let me know how you are getting on through the day. Reading is a great idea, I'm the same, once I start I can't stop - it will be a good distraction for you.

Probably is worth a chat with your CDC, I found when I was about a stone away from my BMI 25 I started to crave things more and kinda felt it was my body telling me to move up the plans. Losses have been slower but am enjoying trying new things and learning how to eat more healthily. Perhaps just kick start the process and then start up those plans.

Good luck for the morning.

The key to success on the diet is realising that the diet is in your head and not your tummy, you have to be in a really positive mind state and really want to lose weight more than you want to eat/nibble/go out for meals/drink etc.

When you have the right mindset then time to plan it and come up with a goal, whether that goal be a weight, a clothes size, being slim for a special occasion or whether you will treat yourself to something when you get there.

SS is no harder the 2nd time round physically and hence when you realise that all you really need to do is focus on the finish line and do it with a smile on your face then the diet isn't so hard.

Don't think you can do it, know you will do it.....
Thanks icemoose and G for your support and encouragement. I feel that i will be able to cope tmrw, i did it before and i know i can do it again. Like i said before, i have kept note of when the diet starts to get difficult and i am hoping that i can overcome this and succeed. I totally agree that it is in my head and psychological rather than physical and i know i need to be strong. I have set goals to aim for and i have special occasions to look forward to and i know losing this last bit of weight will do wonders for my confidence which i find is slowly disapperaing again. I am just aiming to be happy and healthy and i hope i can get through this.

I am going to give it 100% and i am willing to make sacrifices. I have had 3 birthday invitations which i have had to say no to and i have my own birthday in a weeks time, which will be spent at home with my milkshakes and water.

The only thing i am worried about tmrw is being home all day but i will try to keep busy and maybe get up very late, lol.

Thank you again for your advice and support, i forgot how encouraging and friendly it is on here and how everyone is so nice. Maybe i should have come back to minimins when i restarted before. Well, i am glad i am here now.

I am going to start writing in my blog again too, so that should be exciting and something to look forward too, although i will probably just complain about the weather and being bored, lol.

In the past i have made a habit of not finishing off what i start and if i finish off CD i will be very pleased with myself and feel as though i am making progress in my life.

Thanks again xx

Fed up of being fat
Hi MB, its good to see you. You can do this, your head seems in the right place and most of all you have lots of support here. I am restarting again today too now I have myself back in the right frame of mind ... I got there by going and buying a pair of size 12 trousers yesterday, Im a 14 at the moment and the present pairs are hanging a bit around my backside ... so I now have a new goal to get to which is to fit into my new trousers which is just what I needed.

Lets keep drinking, thinking positive and we'll do it. x

Morning both

Great motivation for you Missy, nothing like aiming for the next size down to keep us on the straight and narrow. You will be sliding into them in no time.

I was chuffed this morning, I know it's not official and I am always a couple of pounds lighter at my official weigh-ins on Monday, BUT, the scales said 9st 13.5lbs! I was convinced I wouldn't make it into the 9's before hols but YEAH!!

How are you getting on today Maybe - engrossed by those books I hope.

Wow porgeous in the 9s - that must feel fabulous!

I think I'll probably cry when I get into the 10s, god help me when I get into the 9s!!
Hi all, how are we today?? I hope you've all had a lovely day.

Hi missy, how nice to hear from you again. I hope you have been well. How is your 1st day of restarting?? I hope it has gone well. I am sure you will be in those size 12s in no time, i agree with G that its fab motivation. I am also thinking of getin some nice tweed trousers, but i'l treat myself to them if i get through week 1.

Well done with geting into the 9s G, i bet you feel great. I cant wait untill i get into the 8s.

My 1st day of restart has not gone as planned today. I couldnt finish my first milkshake today because it tasted grainy and awful so it went down the sink. My second milkshake wasnt much different put i managed to have half of it. I am going to have my third milkshake around 6pm and i have decided that i am going to have a steamed chicken breast with it because otherwise i will have only had 1.5 milkshakes today and i am very hungry. I dont want to have another milkshake today because then i wont have enough to geth through the week. So rather than being my restart day i have changed it to my prep day.

I'm hoping i will have a better day tmrw after i swap some mikshakes with a friend who is also on CD.

I am alittle dissapointed that i didnt stick to just 3 milskahes but i am happy that i didnt abandon the diet completely and have lots of food. I have also got through 3 litres today, so i'm sure i'll haveno probs with that.

Tomorrow should go much better. I might go into derby to pick up some books for my assignment and then maybe do some shopping. I really want to get my books from waterstones but it all depends on if i have been paid.

I hope everyone has had a fab day :) xxxx

Hi Maybe

Don't be disappointed I think you have done really well - despite initial set backs with the shakes, as you quite rightly say you haven't abandoned CD and have had a healthy meal - so WELL DONE you!

Fingers crossed you manage to swap for some you like a little better and get fully into the swing of things.

Had a good day today, went to do some toiletry shopping for hols and won't go into details but had lovely lunch on 1200 plan. Going to do some toning later in a desperate bid to tone up the tum which still has a habit of lying next to me!!

Have great evenings!

Tummy toning sounds like a good idea, i think i might try dig out my old ab trainer thingy magij and try a little toning myself. How did you get on with the toning G? My stomach area is always trouble for me whether i'm overweight or near goal weight

Today has gone well, i had my steamed chicken and cucumber ( i stuck to the 790 step portions) and now i am so eager to get into CD properly tmrw.

I am hoping to drink 4 litres and have all 3 milkshakes. I dont think i will go into Dery tmrw, i will leave that to tuesday or wednesday. However, i really want to get my books, so i am defo off to waterstones tmrw, yey :)

I also have a teaching assistant placement to organise tmrw which is vital and then i have to try and apply for a Paediatric First Aid course for April but i think i should have applied in september, lol, oh dear. So i'm going to keep busy busy that way i wont feel hungry. I tend to feel very hungry on the 3rd and 4th night and somtimes i have a little cry because i feel i need to eat, so i am already planning how to deal with that.

I best go now, its very late and i have an early morning tmrw. I hope everyone has a wonderful day tmrw. Speak to you all soon :) xx
