Sweet Herring

skinnyminnycow

Half a pound at a time.
The jars of sweet herring. Its herring but in a sweet sauce. According to the label, a bit of salt and sugar, the rest is vinegar.

You reckon its allowed? The Dr does say all fish.

I love them (so probably not) lol

Probably not, but I have a recipe somewhere for pickled herring. It doesn't have sugar in, but if you like them sweet you could add some Splenda. I'll dig it out because I was just thinking yesterday I had a bit of a fancy for some. :)

"all fish" as it comes out of the sea in its natural state, I think he means ;)

If you see the word "sugar", best not!

I used to live in Sweden.. if the sweet herring is like the ones the have there then I can def tell you is not allowed.. it has lots of sugar!

I've posted the recipe I use for soused herring or mackerel. I guess you could add some splenda to that, although it's gorgeous as is. :)
