I am currently reading a book called 'The Overweight Patient' by Kathy Leach. It is written for weight loss specialists / medical staff who are not specifically trained in phsycology but who work with people on their weight issues. It is quite dry but I am finding it really good. It concentrates on Transactional Analysis (TA) therapy techniques and how they can be used to treat people with weight problems. It looks at why it is so hard for some people to lose weight and why many people find it so hard to keep it off. I think it's going to be very useful to me in understanding my own issues and helping me to maintain once the weight has gone. Just thought you guys might be interested.
I have also ordered another book aimed at the overweight person themselves also using TA techniques. It's winging its way over from the US so I'll let you know whether that seems any good to me when I get it. I have another one for CBT (Cognitive Behavioural Therapy) but I'm not that keen on that one - probably because CBT doesn't really seem to suit me but TA does.
