The shrinking violets official thread - Team 1

hi everyone, I am still here. Just written a really long post about the joys of exercise and lost it! Nothing to report here. Still hanging in there but because of the snow, by the time I got to my CDC's house it was afternoon and I had had a few coffees and a shake. Also I was wearing three layers of clothing so there was no way I was getting on the scales. Just bought 2 weeks' worth of supplies. Need more time before I weigh. Know what I was before Christmas and don't really want to face the music just yet. Still trying to get on track. Nearly there but not drinking the water. Gonna go for 2 litres tomorrow.

Well done on the losses! I'm so impressed. Gem, you are rocking now! I love it when you are so inspired like this! Just think where you will by Easter at this rate. I will probably switch to real porridge soon but right now I am still addicted to CD porridge (with a teaspoon of Toffe & Walnut shale mixed in!). I save money by just buying the porridge and the bars and then buying the 'tetras' from Asda (89p each) or Tescos (2 for £2).

Gill, I am sorry to hear that you are struggling with the gym. Stick at it. Forget about the changing room, they're not looking at you, that is just a little voice in your head trying to find another reason not to go I reckon. Work it into your daily routine so that there is never a choice but to go. Once it is part of your day, I swear it gets easier. It's only hard if you give yourself a let-out clause because then you will struggle and most likely take it. Also, plan what you are going to do each time. Even have a little chart so you can tick off how many minutes you did on each machine and can see your progress. I used to have to force myself and now I am going stir crazy because the snow is stopping me going. I have also redicovered swimming. And snow or no snow I am going to the pool tomorrow -- it's been 3 days since I exercised and I really, really miss it. I never thought in a million years I would be like this!

Keep up the good work. You really are inspiring me!

Lol night owl, sorry, can't remember your real name, bad memory. I really am not the gym sort but i am taking up walking a lot more and cycling when the weather gets better. Been using a gravity glider in the house too. Swimming is something i used to enjoy but i have a skin disease which leaves horrible scarring. A swimsuit wouldn't cover it unless i got an old down to the knee sort lol.

Gem, i make my oss with water. Not a problem for me as i have always eaten it like that since i was little. I do however add some salt when cooking it, i know it's bad but i love it. I suppose i would use the CD porridge if i liked it.

Ah right. I did try the OSS last night and I really didn't like it. I found it flavourless. But then I do have a sweet tooth! x

hi guys
sorry i haven't been around much, manic times at work as usual and to be honest i'm trying to just get on with cambridge like a job and to drink water (not so easy when its freezing) and drink the shakes and carry on with business as usual.

just caught up on the last weeks posts - kelly - yes its bollox - its usually a stone or more for me for a dress size (the first one usually is more but i think that s cos i don't start trying till i'm busting out of the size i'm in so its probably that i was too big for the size anyway. Losing 6 stone before got me from a 22 to a 12 (depending on where you bought it from - i did have a fab pair of size 10 jeans that fitted me for a fortnight - they're still upstairs if anyone wants them)

Like Gem I have clothes in a 10-22 in the loft - and can't wait to work my way down the sizes

I've got about 2 weeks of CD left and this is the only goal i've set myself at the moment in relation to meal replacements. I have organised my life so there are no meals out etc till the end of that. However if its going well i'll decide then what to do

Frances - I was interested in what you said about buying tetras from asda and tescos - which ones are they - do they fit with the programme.

Its not so much that i am looking to come off but i need to have some flexibility
you all know how i have tried and tried to restart and crashed and burned everytime - feeling a complete failure . Well this time my goal is to lose the 4 stone by the end of the year, which means i have the option to do what I want in order to achieve it

I know that the weight comes off with CD and that it works, i also know that I have done it before and so should do it again but that time i didn't go out with friends etc, family meals didn't happen and as its my mums 70th in april, my sons 16th in april, and i'm going walking in the lakes in march and in wales in may its not necessarily the best way for me

however i need to not just come off it and eat the entire contents of the fridge - i do seem to have an issue with lack of control which is what i need to sort

Loving biggest loser USA at the moment and fat families was interesting.

know that i need to exercise more, was planning to walk to work but weathers scuppered that when there is a lovely warm bus to go on - but will do it
still pay gym membership and those who know me from ages ago know that when started i turn into a gym bunny, switch isn't turned on yet.

Just thought one change at a time was enough to cope with for now .

had a sneaky weigh in this morning and have dropped from 15stone 8 to 14stone 11 which of course i'm delighted about
will weigh properly on monday morning. 11 pounds is ace. trousers still don't fit properly although i can fasten my shoes now.

Anyway back to do some work now, and doing an extra shift tonight for some extra pennies. probably won't be back on till middle of week

keep it up girls
Jayne

I meant to say gravity strider.

It's a walking machine thingy, maybe an air walker.

Gem, i use salt when cooking the oss but then crush a sweetener in lol

I have been looking at other non CD products for when i do eventually come off this plan. Basically comparing the carbs mostly in bars. Cambridge and boots stuff. Sure i could manage it alone but for the mo i need the safety of my CDC to keep me on track lol

Frances, please ignore my question in other post. Jayne has sorted me out lol

Hi all, hope everyone is still going good?

I had my WI and I've lost 11lbs so I am chuffed to bits!

Kelly, your new skirt sounds lush. Totally the sort of thing I would wear if I had the figure! (Which I don't...yet!) x

WOW, Fab Loss, Well Done, Sounds like you are so in the zone, Brilliant!! :D :D :D :D :D :D :D :D :D :D

As for the oss, did you buy the normal or the Golden Syrup as I have the gsoss, I too have a sweet tooth & its does me fine, I use skimmed milk with mine, always have done! x

That's brilliant gem, makes it all worthwhile. Well done.

Doing ok here.
Went to the gym today. First time in over 15 yrs. OMG, it sucks lol i hated it then and i still hate it now.
Yeah it's good for you but i just can't see the fun in it.
I was shocked to learn that they only have communal changing rooms:eek: i won't be getting changed in front of any strangers. It's just wrong. All the beautiful people must love it;).
So, that's another reason not to keep going lol. Nah, will give it another go just to make sure i really didn't like it lol.

Hope everyone has a good weekend.

I used to go to the gym on a regular basis before my Car accident & to be honest found it quite a chore, I seriously couldnt do it now, I find it so boring, I would rather exercise on the wii now, so much more fun. x

Well Hello girls,

I have weighed in early this week so in 6 day I lost 7lb. :D
I am quite happy with that as I havent been 100% & I have had my gsoss every day..
I do think the water plays a big part in your losses.

I came on totm today with a vengance, took my pill over last month so my body hates me at the mo, I WANT to eat everything! I did have a small meal today & a chocolate bar which I shouldnt off & when I get weighed in the morning it will teach me not to do that again but my body was screaming for it!

I went on my Wii fit plus yesterday & done an hour, check me out, lol. I have a tight calf from doing the yoga exercises mind, never again. lol..
But enjoyed it and will defo be keeping it up... :D

x

Thanks Kelly and well done you!

I bought the plain OSS as I thought the Honey one might affect my losses too much. I want to lose at least 3lbs a week really. x

Well done Kelly, half a stone off is brill! I think the main reason I like CD porridge so much is that I mix in a spoonful of Toffee & Walnut shake after it's made. I think that really sweetens it and gives it a nice flavour. Always have plain -- hated the apple and cinnamon one.

Jayne, for when you are back, I started at 15 stone 8lbs too, back in June 2008. I have never Sole Sourced, and have been on SS+, moreorless, for 18 months now. Yes, I eat things off plan from time to time, but I find that when I eat out I always find some grilled chicken and lettuce on the menu so that has never held me back. The important thing is that, no matter what, every morning I start the day with CD porridge, followed by a skinny white coffee and a Malt Toffee bar for lunch. That is set in stone now. So try and think in terms of not coming off it exactly, it is only a meal out and as for your walking holidays, I've just taken packs with me when I have gone on holiday. I even took them to HK on a business trip, and yes, I had the odd glass of wine but by and large, I stuck to the plan, and mentally I was never off the plan, which made it so much easier to just get back on the straight and narrow again when I got back.

With regards to the Asda (Measure Up shakes in cartons, vanilla, strawberry and chocolate at 89p each) and Tesco (Ultra slim, either three cartons for £2 or a box of powder for 12 shakes for £3.29) you cannot Sole Source with them, and I only have one a day instead of a third Cambridge, because they are cheaper, that's all.

I started off with walking, both on the South Downs and on the treadmill, as my only exercise but found about 4 months ago that it wasn't gettting my heartrate up high enough anymore (127 per whatever -- you work it out depending on your age) in order to burn fat so I had to start jogging! Swimming also does it. I'm reading abook at the moment on the Art of Swimming -- combining swimming with the Alexander technique.

Finding it so hard to drink the water these days, and not really getting out to the pool and the gym because of the snow. Just treading water at the moment. Think we just have to accept the next week or so we are stuck with the weather conditions and just have to bide our time.

Have a great week everyone, and of course, well done to Gem, our Slimmer of the Week! :party0011:

Hello team mates, well, I lost 6lbs last week (official WI this am). I will try to get my CDC to move me back to sunday am WI - I like it better that way. I'm glad to see everyone is off to a good start... I can't believe how sooo off plan i've been this past month considering all the efforts I'd put in beforehand. I really need to think about that and my bad food choices!!

Hiya Guys,

Thought I would quickly drop in to say Hi, Not much to say really as feeling quite down at the moment, Totm, headache, hungry, tired!!

Sneaky weighed this morning, have stayed the same so far this week, not that bothered with it being totm, I am on sooooo Heavy I feel like I have no energy at all! Anyone else feel like this, I take after my mam as she suffered with really heavy periods & had to go into hospital to have a scrape every now & again! Sorry to talk about this if ya dont like to hear this..

Anyway Gonna go to bed nite sexy peeps. xx

I agree, well done!!!

I'm still doing well although I had a SS+ day today because I am so exhausted from worrying about exams that I felt like I needed a little something something!

I'm thinking I will switch to SS+ now as I enjoy it more and it allows me to eat with Mike in the evenings.

Only 3 and a half weeks left on CD so may as well enjoy them! x

Gem: Well Gem, as long as your experience is enjoyable, go for it!! and I remember a dr once told me that during intense intellectual activities, your brain requires more calories (but not the trashy one if ya know what i mean), so during exams I imagine, the protein is prob called for. What are you going to do after your packs are through?? It just seems so hard to get into it, that to drop off would prob kill me!

Kels: I know what you mean! it was so intense for me, and even more so after the children, though I thought it was supposed to lessen. So I'm on depoprovera shots, i have no more totm, and I feel great!

Sneaked a peek at the scales, only 2lbs - boy, somehow I feel i'm gonna pay for that rapid 20lb gain by a slowww and painful loss, I mean who am I kidding? at one point I reasoned to myself that weight gained fast was also lost fast - what a FOOL!! the joke was on me ladies, but i'm still 100% on plan this week so we'll see.. weigh-in is on sunday, i may have a chance to move 6 more...

I know it sounds awful but I have had enough of CD now. It's great for the losses and that but I am suffering this time with bad leg cramps and I can't sleep. I'm just using it to kick start my loss and lose about 2st and then I am going to do Slimming World. I feel like I want to get back to food again and lose the weight gradually this time so that it doesn't go to my head!!!! If I only lose 1.5lb a week I will still get to where I was before by the time I go back to uni for my second year which is what I wanted. Maybe then I will come back to CD to shift the last 3st. We shall see!!! x

Usually it's a sign of excess sodium and not enough water. My CDC said it can be quite common although mine are excruciating and started the first night i was on CD. It's horrible because I am already drinking 4-5l and I can't physically fit in anymore :(
