Ok I adapted this from an Atkins recipe and it is delicious.

Fry 500 gr of lean mince with a small chopped onion.
Add tsp of cumin, tsp of chilli powder, tsp of paprika, garlic, salt and pepper to taste.
    some chopped chillis to taste.
When cooked press into the bottom of an oven proof dish.

whisk together 3 eggs, 1/2 cup may, 1/2 cup double cream and 8 oz of grated cheddar. ( I think 1/2 cup would be roughly 4 tablespoons. I think there is a sticky with conversions)
Pour mixture on top of mince and bung in oven for 40 mins 170 centigrade for fan
    prob 180 for others.
    YUMMY.
For those that don't like spicy just change seasoning. Atkins recommend chopped cooked bacon.
Really you could do whatever you want with the mince. It's the topping that makes it :D:D:D

I just did this...it is gorgeous! I'm a chilli fan too, so mine was very hot, but the top is just gorgeous...you could use it on all sorts of other dishes too, my brain is working overtime thinking where I could use it!
    Thanks Aly

I was thinking maybe a bolognese base with mushrooms too.
As pinks says the variations are endless.
Oh Oh what about moussaka? are we allowed aubergines? will have to go check.

i just used this "sauce" with mushrooms and left over chicken and lamb and three cherry tomatoes (with seasonings). It was a bit like a souffle consistency for me (I didn't measure liquid quantities). I think it is nice like this but would like to try it without the egg or maybe with just one egg tomorrow when I do it with mince.

Mine was quite firm (and the topping!) but then I use my measuring cups. I think we are allowed aubergine, aren't we?
