so, been a bit naughty the last couple of days, big family meals out to celebrate my dads 72nd birthday, so back on plan today with a vengeance!!!

just made my first ever lasagne, it was ok, too much liquid and not enough cheesyness, but at least I've made one now, so the next attempt should be lots better. Even better is, it was entirely free!!! made with quorn mince, lasagne sheets, passata, onion, pepper, mushrooms, 2 spag bol oxo cubes, some chilli and garlic powder and a tub of cottage cheese for the white layer, with a bit of grated low low cheese on top. It definately needs another tub of cottage cheese in between the layers as there wasnt enough, but for a first attempt I'm pretty impressed!! Will definately make it more often.

Glad to hear you're doing so well!! 1/4 of the way to your Take That target!! Yayyy!! You have to be able to enjoy social occasions, so don't worry about that- it's not the odd meal/day of indulgence that causes the problems, it's the frequent ones- so you can still pull it back and lose this week and even more importantly you can keep on losing week by week and still have treats sometimes! I think I'm starting to master the art of balance!X

balance, sounds like a plan Heather!!! LOL ive kickstarted the exercise as well over the last couple of days. Got Kinect for our Xbox as a joint xmas pressie, so been doing Dance Central for the last 2 nights, in a lot of pain now, really ache!!

well, I didn't do too good this week, put 3lb on, knew that I had over indulged last weekend, but aiming to putting it right this week. more dancing and less food!! lol

Don't worry hun, you have completely the right attitude, the gain isn't a big deal, what u do to correct it is!xxx

thanks hun, I appreciate the support, trying really hard but things just going against me at the moment. weigh in tomorrow, really not looking forward to it.

ps liking the new pic!!! :)

aww thanks hun, im really back in the zone now, so focussed its unreal, its gonna happen this time, I just know it!!! Talked about Lets Beat It Together on Thursday night, really want to get signed up and sponsored, I know it will be an exra incentive then! Also, really wanna try those new Hifi bars, they look amazing!

Also, had a really nice pasta bake tonight at my mums, stir fry veg (there was carrots, broad beans, broccoli, cauliflower and onion) and lay in the bottom of a casserole dish, at the same time cook some pasta, and then lay this on top of the veg. beat 5 eggs together and a tub of cottage cheese and pour over the top. cook for half an hour. It was gorgeous!!! :)

so, wi tonight, I STS, not too bad considering how my mind has been on other things this week. My hubby is really ill at the moment, he's lost 2 stone since new year, hes not eating anything apart from a slice of bread or a cereal bar a day. the drs have tried lots of things, but none have worked so he's having a camera down a week on monday to see whats happening.

then, to top it all off, he was rushed to hospital on friday night, he has had a bloodshot eye for just over a week, we thought it was because he was tired, but last wednesday it went really red and started to hurt him. He went to the drs on friday, and he was rushed to the hospital with Iritis. Its when your iris and pupil stick to the lens on the front of your eye. he had to have a steroid injection into his eye (ewwwww makes me cringe just thinking of it!), the dr said that if he had left it any longer he would have lost the sight in it, he's damaged his pupil permanently and his sight will be affected for the rest of his life. hes had to put steroid drops in every hour this week, and he has to go back to be reassessed next friday.

so, as you can imagine, food has really been the last thing on my mind!! have had a couple of bad days, but on the days I have been good I have been really good, so to maintain tonight was quite a relief.

Hi hun, ooh dear, sounds like you've done well to STS with all that stress on your hands!! Your poor hubby, I hope they discover what's wrong with him with the endoscopy and that eye sounds nasty!! Was it a detached retina? Sounds like that type of thing!! I'm a nurse and even I go all cringey at the thought of eye things!!! Hope you manage to keep control of things this week, Hev X

hi hev, thanks for the support *hugs* according to the hospital, it was Iritis, or Anterior Uveitis. his pupil and iris were stuck to his lens, his pupil was completely fixed, no dilation or anything. his pupil now is a funny shape, its not round anymore, it looks like a backwards D (with a flat side)

not looking forward to the endoscopy, he says he can feel something when he swallows, which makes him feel full and sick. just hoping its nothing too serious x

well, where do I start, haven't been here for weeks, but things have been absolutely mental.

hubby has now lost over 3 stone since xmas, still not eating, camera found nothing unusual. since then, hes now got a blocked saliva gland, which got massively infected which led to 3 days in hospital for iv antibiotics, backwards and forwards to different hospitals for different tests. Finally discovered he has a low liver function and low kidney function. they have narrowed it down to 2 different illnesses, one in the liver and one in the kidneys. hes got to go to a kidney specialist to rule out or confirm the kidney one as it is the rarer of the two, and then has to go back and see the specialist at the end of april.

as you can imagine, it has been a nightmare month for me, totally exhausted and run down, food has been the last thing on my mind, have just been eating as and when and not very healthily either. back up to just below my start weight now, was going to start back this week, but have now got norovirus, so not eaten anything for 3 days, now just starting to eat but am craving salt like mad, just eating crisps and bread, its quite scary really. dread to think what the scales will say, its been a c**ppy few weeks and I want to see the back of it all!!!

Ooh eck Tina, this all sounds very stressful and worrying for you!! I'm sure it will all be sorted out and that he will get the treatment he needs! Sometimes a diagnosis is a wonderful thing whatever it is because at least you can deal with it!! Meanwhile, sounds like you need to try and regain control during a situation that's out of your control!! It's very hard sometimes isn't it!! Stay strong and just get back on the rails when you can!!XXXXXXXXXX

thanks heather hun, it has been a nightmare, but like you say, the diagnosis is a bit of a relief. just have to wait a couple of more weeks and hopefully we'll have the full answers.

on the up side I lost 4lb on Thursday at WI so very happy with that, just need to start again xx

Well done for that hun!! 4lb is a great loss and I hope it gives you the boost you need to crack on and get your mojo back!!X

So, I'm back. Cannot believe I haven't been here since April. Thats so bad.

OK, first things first. My weight has gone up since I was last here. Left SW and had a break for a while with everything else going on. Rejoined 5 weeks ago and lost 10lb so far. Hoping this time I can stick to it without too many things getting in the way.

Update with my hubby - he was diagnosed as having the rare kidney illness, he had Chronic Active Tubular Interstitial Nephritis. He had to have a biopsy on his kidneys, so was in hospital for a couple of days. When he was admitted he had less than 10% kidney function, if it had been left any later he would have needed dialysis. Luckily, they found the cause and have been treating him with steriods ever since. He has gained some weight, although still not eating properly, and his kidney function is now 40%. They have said that his kidneys have been damaged by the illness and they will never be 100% again, and chances are this could come back in the future. We just go backwards and forwards to the hospital for blood tests and monitoring.

Its been a very testing time, with me trying to hold down a full time job and look after him and the house. It finally got too much for me 4 weeks ago and I am off work with the stress and the depression until the 29th September. I am trying to keep on top of SW though through this, and the fact that I have been losing every week since I rejoined is always a start!

Hope everyone here is well and your weight loss is going ok. Promise I will try and get here more often :) xxx
