Using a pizza plate

Hi All.
Having read all the threads on this subject of using "mash" for a pizza i would like to ask a question.
Has anyone used a pizza stone, the type you preheat in the oven first, if so do you mould the mash onto the hot plate or make it on the worktop and transfer it?
I plan to make the base and cook it in an omelette pan and when cooked transfer it complete with fillings to the pizza stone.
