    Hi everyone,

This is the first time I've been on this forum.
I've known in the back of my mind for years now that I really need to lose weight but I've always just really ignored it until tonight. I'm 5ft 8 and a size 20ish, but lately my boobs seem to have taken on a life of their own, and they won't stop growing!

A couple of months ago, some people at work arranged a trip to a certain theme park, and I happily signed up and paid all of the money to go. Then tonight (the day before we leave), it suddenly hit me: what if I was too fat to ride? What if I had to do the dreaded "walk of shame" back down the queue because the attendants couldn't get the restraints to fit?

I can't face the thought of it as I'm a bit of a coward, so I've resigned myself to wasting the money and staying at home. At least I don't need to get up at 5am tomorrow!

But the whole realisation that my weight has reached a limit where I worry about public humiliation is pretty depressing. It's not fun to worry about going on holiday incase you can't fit comfortably in the seats/need the dreaded seat belt extension etc.

My problem is that I'm very good at kidding myself that I'm not being naughty when I clearly am, e.g. eating too large a portion size, or buying the "low fat" option so that I can eat twice as many. So I was thinking that I might have to go the way of the zero tolerance policy and avoid conventional food altogether for a while, and CD seems like it might suit me. Plus I've been enticed in hook line and sinker by the really encouraging success stories on this forum!

Can anyone tell me if they think the CD may be suitable? I've managed to find a CDC in my home town and I'm hoping to get in touch with them tomorrow morning - at least I'll feel better once I've talked to someone and started to actually do something about my ongoing weight issue.

Thanks so much for reading my ramblings! :D
    Nicola

Hi Nicola, no one but yourself can decide if CD is suitable, but reading your post i think you have already decided, CD for me has been the best thing i have ever done at 18st when started 14 weeks ago i was a mess, like you worried about outings and predicting what may go wrong, If its what you really want to do then you will reap the rewards, its a hard diet, but with fantastic results, i wish you luck, there is great advice and support on here to help out when you need it,

    Hi Nicola

I hope you had no problems getting on the rides, I don't think you would have.

I think the CD and SS is suitable for you, I used to like to think I was fairly sensible about eating, but at 22st 7lb it proved I wasn't. I then didn't want to go on a standard diet and count every calorie or point or however they do it, for year or more, as that is how long it would take to lose the weight, so for ages I just ignored the problem.

Then after realising my health was getting worst, my back hurt, I could only walk a mile, I knew I had to do something.

I found VLCD and done some research and decided to give it a go. It's great, the problem of portion size is taken away, the constant thought of what to eat is taken away, no messing about of weighing your food. In 9 weeks I have now lost 51 lbs the most I have ever lost and I feel loads better.

So yes do it, get over the first 2 weeks and its gets easier and easier

I think it would be great for you! There's loads of info on Mini's about CD, if you want to read up a bit more. Also, you could make an appointment with the CDC (counsellor), or phone them for information etc, with the option to sign up if you decide to go ahead :)

It's the best diet, and the one that work's the best for me. Good luck xxx

Hi Nicola - welcome to the forum. Many sentences in your post could have been written by me. I had a day at a theme park last summer and "held the bags" as I didn't want to embarrass myself or my family.

I had thought about doing a vlcd diet for about 2 years and I got to the point where I wanted to stop wishing I had done it last year so I could be at the place where I was so glad I had done it last year.

For me cutting out food has been the key. I love food, love eating and love feeding people, but I don't know when to stop. This diet has taught me that I don't "need" food like I thought I did, I just craved and wanted food (and drink).

In my limited experience on this diet cutting out the food has been the easy bit. Dealing with and understanding the cravings and why I have them has been harder. I am a typical self sabotager, but I am more in control on this diet that I have ever been before, either on or off a diet.

Only you can decide whether this diet is for you, it can throw up a lot of issues to deal with, but the results and the time to think it gives you are amazing (well for me)

Sorry to ramble on and hope there is some time of an answer in there for you. And good luck if you decide to do it. This is an amazing supportive and inspirational forum. x

hey nicola, I've had a couple of close shaves at theme parks (boobies are the culprit!), one of my treats when I get to goal is a fun and totally worry free day out at a theme park, no shoving bits here and there, no boobs slapping me in the face, and no walk of shame when I don't fit :)
CD is great if you want quick results, the first week is hard, but it is sooo worth it. Hope you join us xx

I am new to cd ss, on day 4. I am 5ft10 and size 20 and have been dropping in & out of lots of diets since having my daughter 6yrs ago!!!
The trouble is I am a full time working Mum and found other diets too complicated or time consuming to stick to. Having seen 2 friends do this diet & keep the weight off I decided to give it a go. Even though its only day 4 I realise now its the best decision ever.
Its a personal choice as to what is right for you,but its also not going to be for ever. :)

Hi Nicola, when I read your comment I thought I was reading about myself!
I've avoided theme parks for years and can't wait to lose some weight and actually go to a theme park and go on all the rides! (big kid at heart!)
I'm currently on day 5 and havent felt so good in years, but everyone does have a different experience, so it's obv up to you in the end whether you join or not.
If you decide to do it, make sure you are doing it for you!!!:D
    Ps this site helps loads!!!.x

Thanks for the encouraging words everyone! I have an appointment with a local CDC on Friday so I'll see how the first week goes. The only thing I'm worried about is the price as I'm 5ft 7 3/4 inches tall so I might have to go for the 4 meals per day.

Good luck for Friday Nicola. I saw my CDC today, and I start tomorrow morning. I'm really excited by the prospect of being 9 stone by October! I'm a size 18 at the moment and 5ft 2 - really envy all you tall people. My book says women under 5ft 8 have 3 packs a day - but you are borderline so you might be better going for 4 packs as you don't want your body to go into starvation mode due to lack of nutrition.

I wish you well on your journey :):)

Well, today is my first day! I had apple and cinnamon porridge for breakfast - the taste was ok but I found the texture of the apple very strange. If you don't chew too much, it seems to help :)
I then had the butterscotch shake for lunch which I didn't get mixed well enough so there were bubbles of powder in it, but the taste was good.
Lastly tonight I had the oriental chilli soup which was fab - really enjoyed it.

I must admit to being really pretty hungry but I knew to expect that the first few days. Just trying to get through day one first of all. I must have gone upstairs to the loo about 20 times so far today!

Whenever I think of food or fancy eating chocolate I keep looking on the internet at all the clothes I can't wait to be able to fit into ;) I hope all the other new starters this week are doing ok.

Keep it up it's so worth it. Take it one day at a time and you'll get there :)

Every time I feel a bit hungry I just drink more water, but I know what you mean about running to the loo - it's mad!

Hi nicola, I think 1st day is hardest. And it's saturday so you feel like you should be eating. They say it gets easier after 3 days.
I nearly blew it tonight as my husband had cooked a lovely dinner and i saw it sitting there but i abstained. Like you i think of all the lovely clothes i could wear if thin but also food makes me feel quite ill cos i usually stuff myself so i've been trying to think of that feeling.
We're doing well anyway and should be proud of ourselves!

You're definitely right there! I'm at my BF's today and he likes really bland food so I didn't fancy his dinner anyway. I'm dreading getting home and seeing what my parents are eating tomorrow. Boo!
