WEEKEND BINGER

I know what you are probably going to say "suck it up and control yourself"

but I am such a bad weekend binger and I have tried but I cant seem to control myself, very good monday to friday, stay within my syns all week and come saturday and sunday I eat chocolate, crisps and probably about 3 takeaways, I know I need to keep it to 1 takeaway a week but I really cant seem to control myself.

Has anyone have any suggestions or does anyone have this problem? It is just stopping me from losing weight :(
 
I weigh on a friday, making the impact of my weekend less harsh on the next weigh in :) I also try to plan really yummy filling meals, like fry ups and roast dinners for sat and sun. That way i know i have a yummy meal thats low syn/free to enjoy and can use my syns for the other stuff! x
 
Hmmm don't know what to suggest really. Maybe planning ahead would be a good idea, choose which night your going to have a takeaway and plan your meals and buy the ingredients for them so you won't want to waste it :)
 
Same for me as a Tuesday weigher. But this Sunday I have arranged a night out with the girls. I'm going to keep a handle on it and not go mad, but there's no way I'll stay within my syns. Sometimes you gotta just say "oh well" and realise that you're not going to have the perfect week. But if this is happening every week... well then you have to question your commitment to weight loss. Perhaps it's just not your time, yet.
 
Fakeaways for the weekend - just as good if not better than the real thing and usually low syn

When do you eat the chocolate and crisps - if you do not keep it in the house you cant eat it or if it is when out then you need to ensure you have substitute or low syn snacks with you

Remind yourself why you want to lose weight and think how it would feel to be at target but yes at the end of the day you need to want it enough and make it happen
 
Do you save your syns for the weekend or do you use them or lose them? x

I stopped going out much when I started this diet. In fact I've only been out once since, so I don't save syns for weekends. I will use flexible syns. It's only once a month, if that, so I don't mind having a lower weight loss that week.
If I wanted to go out every week, I think I'd have to save at least 5 syns every day and drink something like captain morgan and diet fanta. Tastes just like a superslit icecream. Mmmm.
 
why dont you plan to make meals for the weekend so you've already got the food in and dont have to make a special effort to get the stuff in.. and have food thats similar to the takeouts that you order in..
things like home made burgers and chips, chicken fried rice, curry.. .stuff that you can eat tons of without having the guilt of going over and above your syns..
 
I weigh in on a Monday so am extra conscious of what I do with my weekends!
I weigh in on Monday too, although at target now still have to watch what I eat or else I will get back to where I was before. I also plan nice meals for the weekend, ones I especially enjoy, and am also quite happy drinking diet coke. (Can you see my halo) LOL
 
As others have said, make your own versions of the "takaway meals", I do stir-fry,KFC drumsticks, pizza, fish & chips, pastie & chips all SW friendly! All recipes are on this website.......
 
I wouldn't worry about when you weigh on as it takes 8 days for excess calories to convert to fat! So actually those having a binge after weigh in are more in danger of gaining fat the following week.


I agree planning is vital and I would plan every meal and make them filling, include puddings too, I'm not a fan of 'fake' puddings, by all means lower the fat but a Quark and couscous cheesecake tastes like a Quark and couscous cheesecake!
I would maybe have jelly, a lemon and lime made with diet fiery Ginger beer, or strawberry made with lemonade topped with a squirt of cream is low syns, add a free yogurt in there and you've got a little feast!

I make sure I've got SW chips par boiled in the fridge so I can whack those in the oven instead of crisps, (I know no SF but I think the alternative is worse).

You could even make some ready meals for yourself, if you have spaghetti Bol in the week jazz a portion up with chillies and kidney beans and you have chilli for Friday night.
When I did burgers a couple of weeks ago I froze two so will be having those Saturday.

Have a big 'fry' Saturday morning With quorn sausages, bacon, eggs, crispy potatoes, and you probably won't need much for lunch.
 
My suggestions are; do you have takeaways as part of socialising with friends? Do you go to the same places each weekend? Take a look at the menu & work out the syns for each item, write it down & then when you select what you are having chose the lowest syn foods.

Again do the same with crisps & chocolate, there are lots of low synned choccies about.

Save your syns for the weekend so you don't feel like you've ruined everything.

Make a note of ALL the syns you have at the weekend, I find this keeps me in control.

Don't feel to bad, at least you are good during the week;)
 
I reckon you need to figure out why you can't stick to it during the week. Is it boredom ( i know i find it more difficult when i'm just lounging) or are you mentally busy looking after kids/housework etc. Its always difficult when you have a change in your routine. What you need to do is adapt your normal SW routine to the different challenges you face at the weekend.
 
I would make a huge pot of sw curry and rice and on a Saturday when you would normally get something in, just help yourself to a nice healthy curry, or how about a nice sw friendly chow mein, you could make it yourself and on extra easy it is syn free! You can do it ! x
 
I am the same at weekends so tend to have around 5 syns a day and i allow myself 15 a day so bank ten for weekend. I allow myself one night out at weekend, within my syn value usually with the syns iv saved, with vodka diet coke and sometimes a chinese/chippy etc but by weekend iv banked around 70 syns!
 
I really struggle with weekends too.... I tend to plan really well during the week and then grab bad stuff while I'm whizzing around doing jobs at the weekend. My new plan to combat this is to switch to the Original plan on Sat/Sun. That way, I can have 2 HExBs and be able to have a quick sandwich for lunch as well as cereal for breakfast. Also, I think I'm going to try using the slow-cooker on Saturday morning so dinner is ready in the evening and I won't have the heart to throw it away in favour of a take-away...
 
I changed my Weigh in to a Saturday morning. I use my syns weekly so I allow myself at the moment 100 syns a week. So last Saturday night I ended up having a drink and eating treats so I used 70 syns which left me 30 syns for the week. I find this way works better for me as i don't feel I miss out on my social life and eat healthier all through the week. Once I start to gain or sts I will drop my syns by 5 a week and so on x

This is a good idea, you could change your 'syn allowance' week to coincide with your weekends and reduce syns during the week accordingly.
